Brownsburg at Ben Davis Regional Championship

LOL, had a feeling this would be your take.

But here’s the thing…last Friday was NOVEMBER 5th and Carmel DIDN’T show up.

Funny how we pick and choose our narrative.

Sorta like a South Carolina fan chanting “SEC” for Georgia or Alabama while watching them play in the Sugar Bowl after they played in the Meineke Car Care Bowl a week earlier.

Still waiting on the HCC….

3 straight years where BD has somewhat struggled out the gate, only to get healthy and pick up wins at the back of their front-loaded schedule.

Can BD do what they did last year (beating Carmel in Regionals), and get revenge on an opponent that beat them in the regular season?

Prediction:

BD: 28

Brownsburg: 17

Hmm.... Who would have thought Ben Davis would be up 32-0 with 6 mins left in the 4th?

An indictment on the HCC.

This 4-5 Ben Davis team isn’t very good. But alas, per @temptation the HCC is bound to take over the world.

All 3 of your sentences are gross exaggerations.

If you don’t think the league as a whole had a good year (and better year than the MIC) then you aren’t really paying attention. Brownsburg was as good last week as they were bad this week. To say BD isn’t very good? Just plain dumb.

MIC is still #1. HCC is a clear #2.

Is there still apathy in the Ben Davis program though?

3 Final Four's in the last 4 years is pretty solid.

A win next week would change that.

They play in arguably the weakest pound for pound sectional in the state. Tonight was their first win against a team with a winning record all year.

Ben Davis hadn’t beat a soul until tonight. Simply put, this is a below average Ben Davis team. There is no sugarcoating it. If Brownsburg was ever going to break through, this was their night. They didn’t bother to show up. Center Grove will beat this BD team by 30 points next week.

100% get that. BUT they manhandled a team that was 9-2 and had narrow losses to Cathedral and Westfield. I mean that's an impressive win, no matter how you spin it.

That’s why I said it’s more of an indictment on Brownsburg and the HCC. Ben Davis isn’t special.

That's fair, not trying to come at you lol.

CG with a 30 point win next Friday night? I'll happily take that spread after CG struggled against a very deficient LN squad.

So Brownsburg was representing the league? Do Westfield and Zionsville’s dominant wins mean anything?

Amen. The HCC is basically 1B to the MICs 1A.

Westfield is easily one of the Top 5 programs in the state and Zionsville is taking advantage of their fortuitous position in 5A.

Westfield doesn’t play a soul until they get to LOS. If they play the Trojans within two TD’s they’ll get my stamp of approval.

Brownsburg flat choked this year. You can only be the undefeated national champions of August so many times before people start to take notice. Their time has come and gone.

HSE isn't impressive? They were literally up 28-17 on Brownsburg during the season.

Brownsburg choked or BD played well? Sometimes you can give credit to the winning team. They rushed for 275ish on Carmel and they rushed for less than 100 on 30 carries against BD. Bburgs QB was 9-24 with two interceptions.

Ben Davis played phenomenally well tonight. No questions asked. But if Brownsburg can’t beat a 4-5 BD team they handled earlier this year…then when?

I guess we need to leave him alone. He’s on a roll. (Ever since the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor)

What else needs to be said? Where’s HSE? Where’s Brownsburg? The HCC is going to be judged in November not August. We’re all waiting…

Westfield the great hope

HSE literally lost with 5 seconds left to a great Westfield program! Zionsville sure looked dominant against a perennial P/P in Dwenger. But God forbid only two two teams from the HCC are still alive (Westfield, Zionsville) JUST like the MIC (BD, CG).

I love the MIC but you'd be under a rock if you think the HCC isn't creeping at the door. @temptationhas been warning us about this for 2-3 yrs. All it took was a fantastic BD gameplan to flip the script. The HCC will be king in a few years but sometimes a team with experience (BD) can overcome a relative newcomer (Brownsburg).

Heard this the last 4-5 years.

A legitimate HCC team isn’t losing to a 4-5 Ben Davis team that hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record. Talk up the HCC all you want, wins in November count for more than August.

Last week was Brownsburg’s Super Bowl…simply put.  No other excuses from this guy but if you don’t think it’s a huge advantage that BD gets a bye to the regional annually in the current set up, you are in denial.

Brownsburg gets closer every year but just can’t show up or seal the deal when it counts.  That’s more an indictment of their program and not the HCC.

They flat out dominated the MIC’s second place team in the sectional final, yet no one was on here trashing the MIC.  You can’t pick and choose.

Both the MIC/HCC have two teams left and the HCC was 8-5 against the MIC this season.  Let’s stop with the hyperbole.

Is it possible that Ben Davis played their best game of the season and Brownsburg had an off night? Maybe Brownsburg underestimated a team with a 4-5 record? I mean, if the HCC is as pathetic as you make them out to be, then the SAC might as well just fold their entire conference based on last nights results.

No.  Broad strokes of hyperbole are much better click bait.
