Short Preview:

The season started off not so great for the Wildcats as they looked at themselves at 2-3 after Week 5 following their loss to Mater Dei. However, that did not stop Head Coach Tony Lewis from letting this season go to waste, especially mid-way through the season. While Jasper has suffered quite a bit of injury, the Wildcats found themselves in a 3-way tie for 2nd place after winning 4 straight wins. Offensively, the team averages around 250.1 YPG, which would place them as the #1 rushing team in the SIAC, while individual stats are a little time-consuming, Running Backs Perkins and Hollsworth have been beneficial for Jasper's run game success over the season as they have yet been below 100 yards at all. While the passing isn’t used as much in games, QBs Young and Bueltel have served well to Jasper’s offense when they are called. Defensively, Jasper has dominated on the DL, as they have earned them being the #2 SIAC rushing defense team and has been consistently in the Top 2 for several weeks, while the backfield is led by one of the best SIAC DBs in Bair. Even though the season has had its ups and downs, Jasper has built a foundation in the last few weeks for success. And with a rematch with a fired-up Memorial team that wants to avenge their Week 1 loss, this is gearing up to be a very good matchup in Enlow. But there is one thing Jasper fans love, as HC Tony Lewis is 8-1 against the Tigers.

Defense YPG

Short preview:

The first 2 games were less than ideal for the Tigers, as they were blown out by Jasper in Week 1 and were shut out for the first time in 10 years against North in Week 2. However, the Tigers were facing a lot of issues, as the team was down in the double digits of missing starters. But with key guys returning in Week 3 and Week 4, the Tigers have gone 7-1 since their Week 2 loss against North. Offensively, the Tigers have been led by QB Fisher after getting the starting job against Central, while QB/WR Ellspermann has been playing receiver (450 yards) and steps in every once in a while behind center. The QBs have a plethora to throw too, with WR. L Ellspermann, WR Collins, WR Pearce or RB Rode. In the trenches, RB Rode has enjoyed being behind an OL averaging around 6’3 260 and getting to 830 rushing yards in 8 games. Defensively, LB Johnson and DT Farmer have been the focal points on the defense, while LB Johnson has collected 90 total tackles on the season. While the backfield has done an exceptional job replacing a solid group from last year. Overall, it has been an intriguing season for the Tigers as they have overcome some early mishaps. And they hope they can continue their 3-game win streak against the team that blew them out in Week 1. Can the Tigers finally end their 3 game-losing streak to the JCats in the friendly confines of Enlow?

Reitz at Boonville

A very intriguing matchup in this game as the it is a rematch of last year’s 1st round. Boonville enters the game with a dynamic QB/RB duo leading the team in total offense. Defensively, the defend well against the pass but struggles against the run. Reitz on the other hand has been solid all year around leading the conference in multiple categories. And has one of the best pass rush teams I have seen in a while. I think Boonville can keep it close, but judging by previous games they have a tendency to let off the gas too. I think Panthers will exploit their run game defense and run away with this one in the 2H by 17.

Jasper at Memorial

This game has been circled even before the season even started as Memorial and Jasper finally get a rematch in the postseason. Jasper has been an interesting to team watch, as they have overcome some mishaps in the middle season, since at one point, they were sitting at 2-3 and missing over half of their starters. However, Jasper has had faith and managed to pull through their problems and end the season 6-3 and tying for 2nd place in the SIAC. Thanks to the #1 rushing team averaging around 250 rushing yards a game and a solid defense. Memorial was in the same boat with Jasper earlier in the season, as the Tigers were missing multiple starters for 2-3 weeks. This team has changed since then after returning multiple guys and having one of the better offenses in the Conference at #3, while going in and out in the top 4 defenses. These teams are definitely different when they first met in Week 1 when Jasper won 34-10. There are some questions on both sides and I think there will be a slugfest tonight. Jasper plays pretty well away, and Memorial plays pretty well at home. Coin flip, give me the Tigers in a very close one by 3.
