Whiting89
Just curious as I drive to casino on my lunch break the when I’m at the stop sign I see the uprights at the local hs in nv severely pushed forward. Are there any relevant rules saying uprights have to be straight up and not pushed forward?

0 Irishman
Forward may not be as big of an issue as a sideways lean. There are 2 officials on the end line under each upright. Reminded me of a game when I was coaching at Cathedral. We played LaSalle in the Herbstreit Classic at Nippert. Nippert does not have HS posts. Our kicker hit them 3 times on FG attempts. College posts are not as wide as HS posts, and on any HS field, those kicks would have been good. We ended up winning, but what a difference make they can be. 0 Bobref
The rule book has specifications for the goal. If the goal (or any other aspect of the facility) is not up to spec (such as the 2 ft. - instead of 2 yd. - restricted area at Hobart), the instructions to the officials are “play the game and report it to the IHSAA.”

Scecina used to play some games at UIndy, Ritter plays at Marian, and there used to be a southern Indiana Classic that was played at Cardinal Stadium in Louisville. I always confirm via email with both coaches and AD’s what the situation is. It was only an issue one time, thus the emails confirming everything prior. And it wasn’t an issue until the visiting coach was getting his ass kicked by a much better team.
0 JustRules
HS uprights - 23 feet 4 inches NCAA uprights - 18 feet 6 inches NFL uprights - 18 feet 6 inches It's common for NFL uprights to be much higher than NFHS or NCAA which makes them look narrower. I believe at The RCA Dome and LOS, they use standard NFHS goalposts and hash marks.

I can remember working at the RCA Dome with 3 sets of hash marks on the field: NFHS, NCAA, and NFL. That’s when your Umpire earns his check.

Hash marks yes, I'm not sure if they expand the uprights for the state finals. I doubt they have a separate set for them installed. But some uprights have the ability to be expanded. They rotate and they used a forklift. Coach Radtke even treated us to Spaghetti Factory afterwards. Only the NFL hashmarks are on the field permanently. They'll temporarily put the college or HS ones down for those games. 4 hours ago, JustRules said: HS uprights - 23 feet 4 inches NCAA uprights - 18 feet 6 inches NFL uprights - 18 feet 6 inches It's common for NFL uprights to be much higher than NFHS or NCAA which makes them look narrower. NFL requires the posts to be 40' above the crossbar (and that was extended from 30' after a controversial good/no-good call when a kick sailed over the post). I don't know what the requirements are for NCAA, but it looks like most college posts I see are at least 20' and usually 30' above the crossbar. Some older HS teams, especially ones with the old H-style goalposts, have the posts extending 10' above the crossbar and no more.
