whiteshoes
Class 6A and 5A schools were allowed to schedule a 10-game regular season? They could push their conference schedules back a week and add an out-of-conference game to the schedule. With the easing of the travel restrictions, some could possibly look at adding an OOS game. Some folks suggest that the week off is needed for players to rest and recuperate, but if so, why do we allow Carmel, Ben Davis, and other large schools with many players a chance to "catch their breath" but do not allow the same rest period of smaller schools with less players? If that's the issue, start the season a week earlier and give each team a scheduled week off. A lot of states do this, Georgia even requires two weeks off in the regular season. Just thinking... I know coaches who would love to have a 10th game, but you're asking this of the same folks who allow Ben Davis to host Brownsburg in week one of the 6A tournament. That's a different kettle of fish, though.
Southside
It could work in 6A. Sometimes 5A has extra teams. Which then causes a few teams to not have a postseason bye. Overall... I like the idea!!
Trojanmp52
I had the idea a few years back of shifting the season back a week. to allow a 10th game for 5 and 6 a and still have the bye and doing this it would give all the other class a bye week as well
