Due to enrollment, North Daviess (2022 boys 1A basketball champion) was going to move up to 2A in boys basketball. However, they opted to play up in 3A for the 2023/2024 2-year cycle. In the just finished 2023 season, North Daviess was a Regional Champion in 3A. So with that 2 points already earned during this cycle, will North Daviess have to continue to play up in 3A boys basketball for the 2025/2026 cycle? Interesting question....from what I read, the 2 points to stay only applies to teams playing up because of the SF. I guess we will find out in about a year. Miner_Pride Posted March 31, 2023 Share Posted March 31, 2023 yeah I really wondered why they volunteered to jump up to 3A as well. We were well represented in the greene/Daviess area with Linton in 2a Bloomfield IN 1a and the COugars in 3A... woulda been awesome to see those 3 make it to finals, but only Linton did. THe Linton/ND game came down to a Hart jumper at the buzzer for Linton to win. I can't imagine ND jumped to 3A to avoid the Miners. They'd won the last couple meeting before this year. It was my understanding that they had to bump up due to success factor (Regional and State). So they chose to go to 3A over 2A, I don't know why. Due to success factor rules, they will not be able to drop to 1A, but could drop to 2A. Again this is how I interpret the rules and maybe I am wrong.
