Final 26-3. Eagles move on to the championship game against Springfield, the team they’ve beaten in the last 2 championship games. It’s a real “Lutheran vs. Adams Central” deja vu all over again.

Springfield came from behind to beat Moeller in OT.

CalPreps projects an Eagle victory by a comfortable margin. I’ll settle for 1 pt.

Illinois 8A tomorrow should be pretty good with the Lincoln-Way East and Loyola rematch. Also interested to see if Cary-Grove can somehow pull a repeat of their thrilling upset of East St Louis from a couple years back.

My younger sister works for Lake Geneva Schools (represented by Badger HS). Her son and daughter are recent grads from Badger She called right after the game to ask how many teams go for 2 points late in the game after a TD to go for the win. I told her it was more common that she thinks. Waunakee has 7 titles since 1999, and this was Badger's 1st trip.

Several weeks ago, I thought Loyola would win this game in a walk.   Now not so sure as Lincoln-Way East had a large win (49-6) over a very good Barrington team last weekend.    Should be a great game which I shall stream later today.

You watch Cary-Grove vs East St. Louis 2? The first game they played was a classic and they just put on another one.

The 2021 game was a classic.  Best game of the day so far.    East St. Louis is such a mystery.   Cary-Grove played well, stuck with a solid game plan and scored late for a state title.

That whole quarter killing drive was brutal. East St Louis’s QB going down played a huge role in that ending too. Hard to win with a Freshmen in that situation.
