PAC 2023

Recommended Posts

Another week - and more championships represented by the "best small school conference in the STATE!"

I know things are cyclical in nature, but proud to have 3 PAC teams represented in the upcoming semi-states. A job well done by the Titans, Patriots, and Vikings.

Hopefully the IHSAA will continue to spread out these teams so we don't all devour each other in the same sectionals.

Best of luck on your preparations this week. The Jungle will be rocking on Friday.

I thought DeLong kinda got shafted... Not sure what you change to get him as an MVP or POY.

Jett is of course very deserving and has an argument for MVP. Perhaps the PAC needs a "Newcomer of the Year" award.

Just a very talented slate of players. Congratulations to everyone.

I'm not sure how winless Pike Central gets two spots though.

....

Regarding the lack of a PAC website... I've often thought of archiving the stuff that is still online or can be found, but what's the incentive? Maybe I will if I could get some buy-in from Coach Burch or other ADs?.?.?

First off, congrats to all players!  I'd be in favor of MVP for Jett. Hardly ever off of the field and put together a heck of a Sophomore season stat-wise.  A lot due to system at GS and only playing guys both ways very limited, if at all.  To each their own as far as system, but you can't overlook the stats.

🔥15 Week Stat Totals🔥
✅All-Purpose: 2,769 yds, 36 TD✅
💥Kick/Punt Returns: 11 att, 222 yds
💥Punting: 19 punts, 825 yds (43 yd avg)
💥Rushing: 160, 1,351 yds, 20 TD
💥Passing: 65/149, 1,199yds, 16 TD, 8 INT
💥Defense: 41 Solo, 40 Assist, 2 Sack, 3 TFL, 3 FF, 2 INT

I need to dig up some of Seifrig's stats. I believe Cole is the all-time scoring leader at HH, but I'm not sure it is documented.

I would support an effort to archive all of those end of year banquet stat packets that players used to receive. Probably something to talk to Jon about.

If I had to guess, our friend Dave Moseby would probably have info on Seifrig.  If he doesn’t, I’d say no one does.

Assuming he has around 40 touchdowns counting his freshman season, or 240 points, Jett will need to average 208 points in both his junior and senior seasons, or 35 touchdowns, or about 2.9 touchdowns over 24 games. Better start drinking that pickle juice!

Technically....QBs can NOT have "AP yards" per max preps.  AP yards are a combination of Rushing, Receiving, KR, PR and IR.

QBs can have "Total Yards", which is a combination of Rushing, Passing, and Receiving.

I don't know much about the DeLong kid...but here is a little:

Sean DeLong had 1,860 AP yards this season (1313 rush, 425 rec, 122 return) and 23 TDs. (GS school record)

For his career, he had 4,300 AP yards and 48 TDs in 46 games as a starter. (GS school record)

Defensive career stats include 29 tackles, 2 for loss, 1 sack, 3 interceptions.

State Champion and First Team All-Conference RB as a Sophomore.

All Area WR, 1st Team All Conference WR, IFCA JR All-State WR as a Junior.

So far 1st Team All Conference RB as a Senior.

Currently has offers from Ky Wesleyan College, Taylor University, and Georgetown College.

All very impressive, and great career!  I’m glad  he’s graduating. 😀.  I’d still take Jett as mvp as previously stated, AP yards or not or any other way you want to slice it, based on his body of work this season.  You won’t find a more valuable player for a state qualifying team in the PAC this season.

I won't ever argue how the Coaches voted.  Jett is going to be a real problem for the rest of the conference the next couple of years.

So for the couple of you that might care, Dave dug this out and sent it to me last night.  Dave believes that this ONLY accounts for 1996-2006, so some of these have been broken, many likely will never be broken. If nothing else I found it interesting and terribly nostalgic.

There is more to that story.  Coach Clayton asked the PC coach to go to a running clock, he smarted off to Clayton and coach basically said ok then we will run it to 100.  We just didn't have enough time.....:)

We scored touchdowns on two consecutive kickoffs which were fumbled...

The last score was by a freshman fullback, Charlie McKee.

Now I remember why I have always despised the C&P. They treat us like dirt- always have.

I realize postseason success should drive most of these awards- but to have 2 TC players,  3 VL , 3 players from Jasper- and NOT have a particular other SR player on the team (I don’t like to use names)…well- just sits wrong.

But- not that big of deal in the long run- just again reinforces what I’ve always thought of the C&P- trash
