2024-25 and 25-26 Enrollments released by IHSAA

Classes aren't split correctly - they will split 4A-1A evenly (so 62-63 in each), not 64-64-64-58. If it doesn't evenly divide, the remainder goes in the *smallest* class.

Per IHSAA, they gained two points last cycle while playing in a higher class, so they should stay up.

Thanks for all those who have attempted to divide. Very interesting around the cut lines.

Guerin and Jay County both have 800. North Montgomery, Western Boone, and Benton Central all have 513. I know there is a tie breaker, but I just think it would be tough to split schools with identical enrollments into different classes. But I don’t have to make those decisions

Correct, Forest Park should be 1A.

Be interesting how sectionals 47/48 shake out. Forest Park, North Knox get added while Lutheran and CC leave. Providence being right on cusp of 2A.

There is precedent for this.  They've used the larger FR class in the past.

Why wouldn't they fill 1A first? I don't understand how they come up with how many in each class 1A-4A?

if they keep same schools with enrollments in same class, then I can see 2A looking like this possibly.

And hopefully they use some logic this time in the 2A South compared to last time.  There are a couple of flip flops on your map that could take place that wouldn't affect much, but I can't see a way how this map could be altered that much.

Only thing I can think might be an issue--- Monrovia or Triton Central would be going North on this map.  I just don't think it makes sense to split all the Indy schools up like last time.

It'll be interesting to see how full they let each class get.

Looking at Harrell's site, each class had the following number of teams in last year's sectionals:

6A- 32

5A- 31 ( believe this was down due to school merger but could be wrong)

4A- 64

3A- 64

2A- 62

1A- 58

If they use similar logic for this cycle, it could change the top end of 1A with a high caliber LaVille team.

That number could really alter 2A sectional assignments.

Two people had something drawn up that makes a lot of sense and is the same, looks like the IHSAA is gonna have to go a whole different route. Nice goin fellas 😉

Well--- crap.  You're right!

My quick mock, I had this too.

@WCGrad92 Are the red, orange, or brown considered a north sectional?  2A, 4 and 5A seem to have an abundance of 'north' teams and very few in the south.

Southmont,  Muncie Central (4A) and Harrison/McCutcheon (5A) all came through the south last year.  I know that's the way the distribution shakes out, just seems odd to me.

By the way its cut.. orange has to go south.  I think brown and red could have an argument made either way...

But-- if you just move Monrovia to the Indy sectional (orange)....  then have Red go north, brown go south..  I think that's a solid way to cut it.

5A- 31 ( believe this was down due to school merger but could be wrong)

I believe it was due to the IHSAA changing the rule behind how many points were needed to stay UP a class.

FW Dwenger had only accumlated 2 points when 3 were/are now needed to stay up a class, so they bumped them down to 4A. I can't remember why they did that MID-CYLCE, but that's why only 31 teams were in 5A. It made Sectional 12 only have 3 teams with FW Snider, FW North, and Anderson.

5A had Dwenger in it- then retroactively put in 4A.  4A started with 63 teams - then FWBD petitioned to drop.  Dominoes fell and three sectionals in 4A were shuffled.

I would imagine 32 in 6A and 5A.  Logic says (which means it won't happen) - each bottom 4 class should be around 62-63 each to allow for yo-yo's now that the Success Factor can drop in off-cycle years.

if they keep same schools with enrollments in same class, then I can see 2A looking like this possibly.

WeBo always going between 2a/3a line and the north/south line

I was thinking the same... If LaVille falls to 1A, they would challenge North Judson in the 1A North.

After reading through this thread - I actually think I've come around to the idea that is should be the BIGGEST 32 in 6A and the smallest 32 in 1A - then split the rest as evenly as you can.

I think I could get on board with this.  Too lazy, but can anyone outline what that would look like?
