  1. Great read! There are some things that just stand the test of time!
  2. Warsaw Coach Phil Jensen Retires

I really agree with this outlook. Biggest school in the conference, so no one will have to worry about them in the postseason, but it gives the conference another layer of depth. Over in the NECC, when Angola hired Coach Thomas, it was very similar. It made our conference better, but they are the biggest school and no one has to deal with them in the post season either.
  3. To piggy back on the "doesn't come to fruition" hypothetical - Imagine is Coach Kirschner doesn't get the job, but the community's expectations are that high - I'm sure the guy who did end up with the job instead would love to be the disappointment of the community. That would be fun!
  4. NECC 2017

I was in attendance, and from the stands, you couldn't really see much and didn't know what happened. All people knew was the one of the best players in the game suddenly was no longer in the game. Pretty unfortunate.
  5. Bad Weather (Favorite Games)

Not sure if it counts as a favorite game for me, especially because we came up short, but the 2016 Semi State game Garrett v. Concordia at Garrett. The weather was really odd all week and warmer than it should be. We came out and started to warm up, only to be sent back to the locker rooms due to severe thunderstorms and all that comes with that. That's not something you expect in the middle of November. We ended up delaying the game and it didn't get started until after 9:00. Would've been a lot sweeter to me if we would've pulled that one out, but Peter Morrison and company had a few more weapons than we could handle.
  6. Thank you. Young coaches can be hard-nosed, can teach discipline, and can run highly respected programs. You don't have to be a certain age to do so.

  11. A smaller school game that I am interested in is Churubusco v. Eastside. 2 new additions to 1A this year that are in the same sectional and will be a tough out, if you ask me. Busco is #5 in both polls and Eastside is #8 and #11, with their only loss coming to a tough Woodlan team. Could be a good one.

  14. NECC 2017

At Garrett our numbers are about the same as they have been. Mid 50's for all 4 grades. I feel like we are always around 60 or so when the summer starts, but we lose a few here and there to start the season around 55.

  16. GID Poll 2017

    I'll vote for 3A again.
  17. New Turf In 2017?

I bet this is really "fun" to play on in August/September with high temperatures. *Gulp*
  18. Sectionals are out

We played Concordia in the 3A north Semistate last year, and now we are in the same sectional.
  19. For us, a 3A school, we love to have a freshman team, but it just doesn't always work out. Sometimes, like the pieces of the puzzle don't fit well and we just have a larger JV team. Also, our conference does not usually allow us to hold a full JV schedule as not all school have a freshman team. Sometimes we end up making more or less a C team to try and get those young pups some game reps. In my opinion you should have one if you can, but if you're going to send out 15 kids, play them out of position and have them get slaughtered, I don't think you should stretch it.
  20. Hoosier Conference 2017

I always feel like openings at private schools are interesting. The lack of pay probably is unattractive to some prospective candidates, but is that outweighed by the level of talent that potentially could be fielded? What are some other people's thought processes? I tend to lean more towards an internal promotion rather than an outside search, but just a thought.
  21. Hoosier Conference 2017

The Sportsman in Monticello also has fantastic horseshoe sammiches. I am pretty sure they shave about 6 months off your life every time you eat one, but man are they good.
