  1. Only a few spots left, showcase is this Sunday. Over 30 college coaches will be there. Great chance for kids in this area to perform in front of FCS, NAIA, D2 & D3 college coaches!
  2. SIAC All Conference

Would love to see this come back! I know back in the '90's there was an "SIAC vs. Area (PAC & Big 8)" game. It was held at UE & a lot of fun for all the players & coaches. Only "rule" was then you could only play in 1 "All-Star" game. So if a kid made the IN North/South game in Indy, they couldn't play in this game also. I'm not sure if this is still true or not. There's a game similar in Terre Haute, think it's a Wabash Valley thing with local kids played at ISU. Love the idea of it being a "charity" event but reality is someone has to help pay expenses unless EVSC will let you use the Bowl for free & a team of officials will donate their time, etc. Having some knowledge of the North/South game, kids schools have to pay $500 (usually covered by a booster club), to help provide jerseys, pay for housing/food for a week at UIndy & game expenses.
  3. Saw that also & wondering why North (who lost to Harrison) would "poke the Bear" in Central? My guess is this is a blow-out & Central starters are fired early. Biggest concern here for Central is they don't lose any players to ejection & thus next week against Reitz. Question - will Dunham be back for next week's game?
  4. SIAC 2017

Think it's how he worded it, but no doubt giving up 37 points per game is one of the highest in the state. "Top 5 allowed" means least points given up, but I know what he's trying to say is Castle is giving the "Top 5 most points". They're 3-1 because they're #1 in 5A scoring with 42.5 points a game. Defense is a concern for sure. Offense struggled some last week, Castle had 2 pick 6's & a safety from the defense to score 40.
  5. SIAC 2017

Enlow Field is still undergoing renovations to the track & stadium, no games there yet this season. Castle played Bosse at Harrison last week. Central stadium is open with them playing at Lucas Oil Saturday night.
  6. SIAC 2017

Evansville Reitz (2-0) at Castle (2-0) GAME TIME: 7 pm CT, Castle Field. COACHES: Andy Hape, 41-10 in 5th year at Evansville Reitz. Doug Hurt, 88-43 in 12th year at Castle. SAGARIN RATINGS: Evansville Reitz, 65.2, 80th overall, 19th in Class 4A. Castle, 63.04, 85th overall, 16th in Class 5A. LAST OUTING: Evansville Reitz defeated Owensboro Catholic (Ky.), 34-0. Castle defeated New Albany, 56-49. OPPONENTS' RECORDS: Evansville Reitz 0-0, Castle 1-3. SERIES LAST 30 YEARS: Evansville Reitz, 22-16. LAST MEETING: Castle, 25-22, Sep. 2, 2016. PREDICTION: Evansville Reitz, 38-35.
  7. PAC 2017

    When the bus arrives....it's over...
  8. SIAC 2017

  9. SIAC 2017

He could be the best QB in the SIAC next 2 seasons, already has a couple D2 offers. Heard he's like 6'4" now & looks really good throwing this summer.
  10. SIAC 2017

Does Owen deny transfers? Not sure I've heard of any trying & blocked like Harrison. I know Owen accepts them, like the little RB Dorian Williams from Bosse & heard a Safety from Castle transferred there this year.
  11. SIAC 2017

Speer's has a history of denying transfers to ANY SIAC school. Funny how quickly he welcomed Hedgepath & Harvey from North, Stewart from Bosse, Shoulders from Memorial, along with McBride & Welder from Castle. Those were some key players for their 2015 Sectional Championship team.
  12. Hoosier Hills Conference 2017

If some of these Sectional "projections" are correct, could be an interesting Sectional 16 with Castle, Ev North, Floyd Central & New Albany. We all know New Albany has athletes & IMO have improved under the new coach last couple years. Floyd was a good team last year, Castle is the 2 time champion but loses a lot, Ev North is an unknown.
  13. Bryce Bailey, Castle 2017 LT, over 22 D1 offers now. Latest is Vanderbilt, FAU, Colorado State, Syracuse, Purdue, Illinois, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Louisville, pretty much all MAC schools plus Harvard & Yale. Rumor is Stanford flew in to see him this week. Lots of options for the 6'5" 300lb blindside tackle! Follow his recruitment: http://bryce.baileydigital.com/index.html
  14. University of Evansville had a pretty good program in the 1980's under Randy Rogers. They were known all "air Rogers" & threw the ball 50 times a game. They were fun to watch in D2. Rogers left to join Illinois staff & then followed Mackovic to Texas. Today he runs a recruiting service in TX. He & Red Faught at Franklin were ahead of their time with spread offenses. UE dropped football sometime in the mid 1990's & hasn't returned it despite many efforts of the former players & alumni. Former assistants at UE under Rogers included John Butler (went on the be the GM of the Bills & Chargers), Jeff Morrow (was on Schnellenburger's staff at UL & is with the Panthers now) & Mike Alden (former AD at Missouri).
