4 out of 5 for chatard in 3A success factor sure is doing its job!

Hats off to our young Patriots and our Srs for playing 15 games not easy…. But our outlook for at least next 2 seasons looks decent

i think Chatards 17 titles have all come in 3A…. Might be a 2a outlier but can’t recall…. And never won a title in 4A

The Patriots did a better job taking away what we do well than we did to them.  Well deserved Win!  Good luck next week!

GS is an astounding FB program…. They play a tough non conference schedule with generally highly ranked teams to prepare and position themselves for a deep playoff run… and finishing one game shy of a State Finals birth is nothing to be ashamed of…. They make HH a better team and with the late run in last weeks game…. Gave HH another opportunity to “grow” as a team when the game was getting tight and momentum swings back and forth.

with Boyd and Delong gone next season and HH (predominately soph and jr this year) bring a really good mix back…. Will it be as competitive.

but let’s first go play an outstanding Chatard team….. HH has far exceeded expectations and the pressure IMO is all on veteran Chatard team who moves to 4A next yr

At the end of the day even with the typical bad GS start, the game was a statistical dead heat and the long pass play was the difference.  It was a one play game.  They have been able to consistently make those plays for several games so it's not like it is a detriment.

Let’s not forget the run by design in spread…. Jett had a 80 yd TD and 60 yd TD run called back….down 23-0 at one point was not due to GS bad start::: HH imposes their will on GS in all three phases of the game… I give GS credit in their hurry up 2 minute drill offense… as they moved the ball well in the passing game for last 6-7 minutes of 4th qtr

but for 3 1/2 qtrs I witnessed complete silence and shock on the GS side…GS is great team that in all of their losses and the Mt Carmel game…. Found themselves in a decent hole… only their style of offense could score quick and get back into the game

thank goodness HH is a run dominant team as it reeled off 17 play drive and 4 first downs that consumed 9 minutes of the clock….

if HH can move the ball and spread BC out … man on man type coverage, I like our chances better this go around than in 2019.

I hope BC underestimates the Poverty Boys from Lincoln City!!

More than likely better than the Poverty Patriots ventured against the greatest 3A show on turf.  You don't want to get in a ground and pound battle in the mud.  This years Patriots best play is no play.

Niceness is out the window now…. The poverty patriots hopes it rains so much that you Titans can suck a duck….

    I meant turkey!

Let's discuss the first game today. If they didn't rematch, Gibson probably just watches the first half and teaches what happens when you let off the gas. I think Heritage Hills reliedon the big play too much but that has kind of been their modus operandi.

One important aspect is our starting RB/LB played 1 play (the fumble) if I recall and didn’t play offense remaining 1st qtr thru 3rd quarter. He played intermittently at LB

he finally went back in on offense in 4th qtr. Can’t recall if he had any Carries in 4th but just the sheer presence of him the the backfield took pressure off Jett and the offense started rolling again

31-28 was final. I truly think if he was healthy and played all 4 qtrs we may have had a tighter game and not had to scratch and claw our way back into it.

We are healthy this week and I presume GS is too….

I think both teams will do what they do and that is move the ball down field and in the end it will be “take aways” and the leg of the PAT/FG kickers that determine the outcome.

it would surprise me if either team gets up by 14 or more

I know North Posey has had a great year and is coming off of a huge win.  I just don't know that Paoli can be counted out.  Out of all of the offenses/schemes NP has seen, they will not have seen a full 4 qtrs of the flexbone that I know of. That's hard to replicate all week and prepare for.  Paoli's offensive and defensive lines have played well all year and only gotten better.  I dont think Paoli can be counted out of this discussion. Should be a great game.

Prior to this season Heritage Hills ran the flexbone (5yrs or so) as did Tell City

so Posey has experience against a flexbone offense. Posey s defense is stout!

I expect it to be a slobber knocker with NP edging Paoli out by 10

For what it is worth, that isn't too far off Calpreps predictor.  A 2 score game makes sense.  May be a barn burner--these SR/HH games can get pretty spicy.

    neutral field
    [2023] Heritage Hills (Lincoln City, IN) 35 (87%), [2023] Southridge (Huntingburg, IN) 17 (13%)

    I agree

My next comment probably should be in the PAC thread… but don’t want to go however many pages deep to find it

as for the PAC FB world goes…Heritage Hills and Southridge are the cream of the crop historically with HH winning 13 sectional Titles and SR winning 11. Tell City has 9 sectional titles

Gibson Southern didn’t start playing football until 2012 but they have been really good winning 4 sectionals in their young history

Did your expect OV to be an easy out? I’m guessing they will be favored by a TD.

Nope did not have an opinion before this game as they are a unknown foe to the PAC … my comment on the easy out is a compliment as they took a really good rushing team and completely shut it down…. SR and HH are run oriented teams… I think OV will be favored no matter which PAC team they face

I’ll come out and say GS got smacked in the damn mouth! QB was running for his life and as mentioned 9 sacks while not getting rid of the ball.
GS offense has been questionable through the latter part of the season ever since i would say Princeton.

One can say ya but what about all the points they put up?
Well a lot of that was caused by the Defense and putting the offense in tremendous field position. That did not happen tonight as the Defense didn’t have an answer for the QB keepers.

    Congratulations OV

    Rep Sectional 30 Well!!!!!!

I cannot recall in the Coach Hart era that a GS team accumulated a net 6 yds rushing for a complete ball game… yeah I know something like 9 sacks but GS rushing game ran into a wall…. To me there in lies the difference…. GS dominated the passing game but couldn’t get a dominant rush to eat up the clock when they had the lead.

OV will not be an easy out for a SR or a HH!

GS swept your 7th and 8th grade tonight. HH canceled freshman game against GS undefeated freshman.

GS 7th won 38 to 8 with an early running clock wich was requested by HH coach...

    GS 8th grade won 16 to 8.

Great for your middle school teams! No salt in these wounds!

What’s that got to do with our JV team?

frosh are playing JV due to injuries at at all three levels of HS football…therefore they are playing up and had to cancel remainder of season

HH shutout GS 10-0 as well but nevertheless I will stick to the topic of discussing the HS JV team doing well amidst tough times this season to date.

  11. PAC JV Large School

HH has had quite a few hiccups and couple butt whoopins at the Varsity level

however… a bright note is the JV team is still undefeated and should win against Princeton this coming Monday barring something freakishly happening or a cancel.

several Frosh and sophs are playing varsity and not JV

makes next season hopes of doing better than what has been accomplished so far this year going into week 9.

I’m not going to lie….it was a little too close for comfort.  What THS did have was size and speed.  That Cottee kid is a grown man amongst boys lol

I think it showed that GS had a lot of inexperience and there were 3 freshman who saw playing time I believe, maybe 4…some growing pains but you’ll have that on week 1.

end of the day….GS can play all the 5A and 6A schools they want and we will still measure them by how they do against Heritage Hills lol

    Ditto on GS vs HH

that is the huge respect to two high quality conference opponents that put tremendous efforts into the “program” at each respective school… add the tremendous booster/community support that these schools receive…and you get the “measuring stick”

side note…. See that the Allen family moved to Santa Claus…. Dang just a few years too late…. They have any more kids coming up the pipeline?

I think only 1 got the official start and the others rotated in throughout the game…but still impressive.  Impressive to have this many freshman earning varsity time under Coach Hart.

as for New Albany…..it’s a big mystery.

looking at last years game….it was very senior dominant…for what GS has seen of them, only 3 kids on offense who combined for 10 yards total last year are returning.  So i guess whatever there is of film this year is about all we have to go off of.  They graduated a lot of their playmakers

    GS 34-13 over NA

    Very Cool, Indeed! Awesome.

As far as the game, congrats to HH.  Better team tonight.  MV made too many basic mistakes that can't be made to beat a good team.  Hopefully, learn and move on, and get better.

I expected Nicot to be a challenge for HH with his legs

His early 62 yard TD run 4 minutes into the game on MV first possession was typical… spread the field and take off…. Glad HH adjusted and Nicot only gained 72 yds for the remainder of game.
Both teams had some self inflicted sloppy penalties and few mistakes that can be rectified.
don’t see any difficulty for either MV or HH with the ensuing week… both teams ought to be able to get some of the 2’s and 3’s opportunities to get varsity experience

I agree Tanner had a great game!

    surprised to see a “dogfight”

with THS … only 2 seasons in which they won more games than they lost in the last 28 years.

I was way off in thinking GS would hang 60 plus on South and South might get a score or two in mop up time.

    Regardless of THS being 5A

…3A GS is well above THS in quality of total program.

have no clue on what to expect with New Albany but believe GS can win by 2-3 scores
