Halftimes this Friday is halfway through the season. Looking like the SV Cherry pickers will get a trophy for their case unless something bizarre happens.

    Covington at South Vermilion

    Fountain Central at Attica

    North Vermilion at Riverton Parke

The Woofs of Parke Heritage at Seeger

Weekly power rankings later after I hit all the McDonald’s and talk to the hot youth league moms. I gotta go

    South Vermilions 34-19

    Fountain Centrals 41-6

    Riverton Parkes 30-28

    Seeger 27-7

The xs Trojans @ Fountain Centrals

The Woofs @ Attica. Loser probably puts up a goose egg for the season

Riverton Parkes @ Seegers. This could tell us if RP is really improved or not.

South Vermilions @ North Vermilions. Probably the top 2 teams in the WRC. Can the mega school Cherry pickers beat little brother?

    My Donnie Baker rankings

    Both Vermilions

    RP

    Seegers

    Fountain Centrals

    Little Trojans

    The Woofs

    Attica

I'm Donnie Baker and I approve this message

    Fountain Central 32-28

    Parke Heritage 35-7

    Seeger 21-20

    South Vermilions 35-28

LCC and Seeger played a couple of times in the mid-2000s, 2004/2006.  Seeger bounced up to 2A shortly after and then back down to 1A and back up to 2A again, but the two teams haven't come across each in post season for just under a couple of decades.

Seeger and LCC use to play annually in the regular season in the 80s in football. Legend has it that something happened in the late 80s at a game at Seeger to make both sideline clear out and turned into an all out brawl. IHSAA said no more regular season meetings in football. Evidently, 30 some years later, IHSAA said they can start the series again.

Any news on the LCC game from last night?  I another thread, someone had posted that there were some shoving matches and extra curricular activity going on

Yeah, I heard lots of extra curricular activity. If what I heard was true, I could see why the series between the schools has been dormant since the late 80s. Usually rivals get that handsy, not 2 programs who never play each other.

Fun fact: Warren County is one of like 3 counties in Indiana who does not have a catholic church in it's boundaries. Legend has it back in the late 1800s one tried to set up shop in Williamsport and it was ran out of town. Maybe Warren County folks just don't like catholics?

Edit: I'm from Warren County, and I approve this conspiracy theory....

Well I missed 3 picks. Not a surprise that the Ponies lost but the score was.
I picked Pike Centrals because they are 3A and it was a long trip but they’ve been bad for years. Nice game for RP.
Covington was the biggest surprise for me.
Attica dressed 13 with 5 not dressed.

Liptons big win was expected. The Woofs best players moved or went back to their ode schools. Plus The Legend left.
I thought both of the Vermilions would’ve won bigger. Maybe @Woody Hayes will make an appearance.
Seegers kept it closer than anyone expected. I think that’s all. Any input from anyone else? I gotta go

Ol' Seegers might be tough as the season goes on. Eyewitness reports say they hung tough in the first half until they ran out of steam in the 2nd half.

Eyewitness reports say the Ramblin' Boys of Attica are in for a long season after the showing they had last night. The Ponies of Veedersburg might have the same.

    That's all I got....

We will take what a guy from Whineamac says with a grain of salt 😎.  Friday night went just about as expected and once the D1’s destroy the lowly Thunderchickens today the weekend will be complete.

Covington struggled for a while with the Stangs, but that is a rivalry game and ultimately came out with the expected double figure win.

The Herbies flexed their muscle on RP.  2 questions still remain after this game:  1). Are the Herbies a contender or a pretender?  2). Will RP win a game?

The Wolfs obviously didn’t have any bus trouble on the way to Flora and did what they do...a 3rd straight running clock game to start the 2nd half.  We are witnessing history in the making folks as the Wolfs continue on with their streak of running clock games.  Dare I say juggernaut??

NV struggled mightily with Linton which was to be expected.  NV-RP next week...somebody has to win a game.

Herbies are looking like contenders. I guess we will find out against Sheridan and South V in a couple of weeks...

I could see Parke Heritage finally get over the Sectional hump this season. But there's a lot of football left to play

    Russell Wilson

take the Russell Wilson transfer for example. The best thing Brett Bielma ever done was listen to his OC when he said we can spread it out with Russell under center. And that they did. I'm hoping wisdom of the football gods bestows upon the coaches in Madison and they evolve their offense. And to be honest, they will have to evolve because they don't have Taylor. Jonathan Taylor was an unexpected surprise to everyone with how well he did. Not to say there's not another Taylor waiting in the wings, but if there is, he's not being planned on.

Again... I'd have no interest in Wisconsin if I were a big time QB. Zero to prove other wise until this point.

Now.... love their program. Loveeee it.

Not if I'm a big time QB.

it would be a gamble for any big time QB given Wisconsin's history. I could be totally wrong, even with the WR and TE recruits that have signed. Maybe the next Taylor emerges this year as a freshman, the OC refuses to evolve and sticks to running the ball 40 times a game (regardless of who is under center) and the studs in the stables are just stuck handing off the ball and throwing 15-20 passes a game. Not saying that will happen, but thats a possiblity any recruit needs to think about.

This is all coming from a Badger fan since 1998...

I would also look to the SEC with LSU/Alabama.  historically they were ground and pound teams. But when you have the QB talent to trust and the receivers around him, you gotta make that change.

no doubt burrows/tua were elite college players so we can’t just say any team can do it.  But it’s certainly possible and maybe the QB is better than what we think if he starts getting the chance to throw it 30 times a game

If you want to throw it 6 times a game to below avg receivers it's a fantastic school for a QB.

Easy there, Big Shooter, Ol' Bucky is starting to get some 4 star TE and WR prospects taking offers. With Graham Mertz (Wisconsin's first ever true 4 star QB signee) waiting in the stables, Barry Ball will evolve into a more pass friendly offense.starting in 2021. If the OC knows he has another stud like this Allen kid hanging in the stables too, doubt the OC would go back to the old ways of run 40 times a game that soon.....

Wasn't coach good there for like 12 years? How can you have no feeder program?

you are asking the wrong guy that question....

I only have half the knowledge, not all of it....

My uneducated but highly opinionated at times guess is the wise men i spoke to assume all of this based off of last year's youth league and junior high numbers...

Proof will be in the Puddin if the Puddin ever gets made......
