I'm calling the IHSAA on this crew. This needs to be an investigation.
So we are waiting to hear how the call went. When is your 1st game in stripes? Sure there are a few on here that can't wait to come see you work.

I urge you to contact the IHSAA and report that there were "five schools that voted for us that we have never ever been to or officiated." That is not supposed to happen. If every crew that had this happen to them reported it to the IHSAA, perhaps they would be a little more aggressive in policing the schools in this regard.
We have been told each school gets 5 'write-in' votes for crews that are not on their schedule. So if that is correct, this could happen then.

Saw this one last night. Pretend you’re the back judge. What do you do?
3rd and 4 from the A 38 yd. line. Both teams come to the line ready for the snap. B12 realized he shouldn’t be on the field, and sprints for the sideline. The snap is imminent. You’re the back judge, primarily responsible for counting the number of defensive players on every play. What do you do?
- Blow the whistle, kill the clock, throw a flag for illegal substitution, a 5 yd. dead ball foul.
- Let it go to see if B12 makes it off the field before the snap. If he doesn’t, throw a flag for illegal substitution, a 5 yd. live ball foul.
- Let it go to see if B12 makes it off the field before the snap. If he doesn’t, throw a flag for illegal participation, a 15 yd. live ball foul.
As Back Judge, if B12 has a chance to make it off the field before the snap, then #2, if I know B12 will not make it off the field before the snap, then #1. My reasoning is if B12 doesn't make it off the field, B12 may then decide to participate in the play & I want to avoid that penalty if at all possible.

I communicated a suggestion to the IHSAA that some sort of informational directive to crew chiefs might be helpful. And it was again made very clear to me that they want this penalized if it delays play as unsportsmanlike conduct, and reported.
They need to send this information out to all officials in an email if they want it penalized. Otherwise we are telling the the AD & coach "well on the forum they said to penalize this action". That does not look good.
