Congrats to OV awesome game. Nothing but respect to the GS team and fans you guys played well last night. Also you traveled well for a 2 hour road game. Patriot field was rocking last night and heard it was anywhere from 5000 to 7000 people there last night. With over 2 hours till kick off the stands were filling up. I don’t think there was other football field in the state if Indiana that was as packed and rocking like Patriot field. This video is not mine but thought I would share it anyways. Let’s go Patriots!!!

this video is amazing. thank you for sharing

This game will be very close - closer than the 20+ predicted by the account above. From a WIC standpoint, OV is the definite powerhouse in it right now. I know GS has a storied history as well. But I can't go against Coach Gibson and will call it Patriots 38 GS 34 -- but I give myself a +/- 5 pt margin of error for not seeing GS play. 😑

I just can't get myself to vote against Coach Gibson either. Obviously coach Hart is amazing and deserves every bit of respect and success. Robbie Gibson was a standout player at here South Putnam and Marion College. He coached in college in Montana and washington. He helped ritter win a state championship and he was on the staff that turned danville around to what they are again. This game is nothing but normal to him and coach hart. It is a big game and they will both treat it as such. Very cool to see local guys do great work. GS has the better players. But I wouldn't expect coach gibson to pee down his leg. He has been here before

If the OV offense is similar to what I saw this time last year (mostly predicated on the run) that VL held to 14 pts, then the Patriots are in real trouble. I hope they’ve made real progress in the passing game in 2022 in order to keep pace with GS…Or hope their defense has the game of their lives.

But ultimately, I feel like we already witnessed the two best teams square off last week in fort branch.

GS wins in similar fashion as last week…3+ scores

Owen Valley shut out VL last year. 😆 literally zero points scored against their defense.  GS will run off with this one, I agree, but, I do not believe you have the pedigree to be calling yourself the second best team. 4 wins against an obviously down year in the SIAC and 0 points against the defense you say needs to have the game of their life. OV's offense is much improved from a year ago. Still not enough to win against a team of this caliber. But I truly believe there are only 4 or 5 teams in 3A who could consistently beat OV if they played 10 times. VL is surely not one of those teams.

Whew, looks like I hit the hornets nest...

if you take away the two KO returns for TDs and the bad snap, then its 47-42... VL being the 7th place team in the SIAC proved that it could handle its own against the "Greatest Show on Turf (PAC edition)"

We can all disagree or agree on this and that, simply put each person in favor of their conference is going to spin things the way they want.

GS defense is so stout that it cant help but give up chunk plays for TDs. but like FootballFan2000 said "600 total yards of offense in 3 plays" that's insane... I didn't know any other team could put up those kind of numbers other than GS!!

OV "might" be able to handle GS, but I know that OV's 10-0 record can be deceiving since they don't nearly the schedule GS does. I mean GS has what 3 possibly 4 games they have to "get-up" for each year. Same could be said with OV. Both teams have a real nice set-up of cake walk games where the JV teams can get plenty of varsity 2nd half experience. Maybe that's the secret to success, play 5 bad teams a year so your JV can get extra reps each week!

OV's speed can match GS. once again , "IF" OV takes anything for the GS/VL film, its maybe throw in a few trick plays to score early, but it can only be over 50+ yards because the game will be played on OV side of the field!!

Side note: anyone know the actual Kick-Off time ??

Owen Valley was 1-9 just 3 years ago and 0-10 just 4 years ago. I think their current schedule is a reflection of what they were. I heard the new HC at OV Robbie Gibson has already told the administration that he wants Cloverdale and Eastern Green off the schedule and they honored it. He is trying to beef up the non-conference schedule.

As for my thoughts on the game, I have seen OV in person and they are very good. But I just don't think they're ready for a team like GS. Their best players play offense and their next best players play defense. Based off of stats it looks like they have stuck to that in order to keep guys fresh.

GS will win this one by 3 or 4 touchdowns. But be proud with what they have built at OV. They haven't won like this.

The older I get, the more I realize all-in necessitates the blind draw.  Seeded sectionals with all-in would result in dozens of first round games like this one.  At least in a blind draw, Pike Central can draw Washington rather than both of those teams getting blown out by Vincennes and Gibson Southern. (sectional 30)

So instead, Gibson Southern, Vincennes, or Owen Valley will play West Vigo for a sectional championship. All 3 of which would beat WV by 50. In a title game.

  6. Friday, Oct. 7
Cloverdale at West Vigo ©, 7 pm
North Putnam at Brown County ©, 7 pm
Northview at Edgewood ©, 7 pm
South Putnam at Heritage Christian, 7 pm
Sullivan at Indian Creek ©, 7:30 pm

Greencastle at Owen Valley, 7 pm

Cloverdale @ West Vigo - Both first year head coaches have had a tough go so far this year, but West Vigo wins this one with a more talented roster. We have seen both teams this year. Cloverdale is greatly improved under new coach Tyler Lotz - excitement is at least building there! Aaron Clements comes from a great football family. WV wins this one 48-21.

North Putnam @ Brown County - NP wins this one by as many as they choose. I still believe Colton Sample at BC is as good a coach as they've had. They have had a tough year. North Putnam is better than their record and they have Brian Moore on their staff. NP wins 56-14.

Northview @ Edgewood - Have not seen Northview in person, but Edgewood is down again this year. Surprised to see Northview lose 3 straight. Look for them to get back into the Win Column. Northview wins 56-0.

South Putnam @ Heritage Christian - Maybe I am biased, but I think South Putnam wins this one. A very talented group of skill players and a lot of points scored. Currently #1 in the state in scoring (for now). I look for that to change against two great opponents . SP wins a shootout 42-38!

Sullivan @ Indian Creek - This is the WIC Game of the Week by far - Indian Creek has a tremendous offense and Sullivan is not as strong on defense as they have been. Sullivan game against Owen Valley was a lot closer on the scoreboard than what it was on the livestream. Look for Casey Gillin to air it out over Sullivan 42-28.

Greencastle @ Owen Valley - Owen Valley doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. Greencastle is 4-3 with wins over Indianapolis Attucks, West Vigo, Brown County, and Cloverdale. GC will struggle to slow down OV. High powered offense will win this game for Owen Valley. Patriots win 52-14 on their way to an undefeated season.

  7. Off Topic - But is there any way South Vermillion and Coverdale could swap places in their conferences? Cloverdale would compete much better in that conference of 1A schools under new energetic young coach Tyler Lotz, who is as good as cloverdale has had, and SV would see competition in the WIC that would prepare them for sectional run. Just a thought.

    My "Oh My" teams are

Martinsville - Not necessarily shocked or surprised, but their wins are big time quality wins and there are no signs of slowing down. I have counted them out 3 or 4 times this season and they won all of them! They were just 1-19 like 5 so years ago and Brian Dugger has improved their record dramatically every year.

Danville - Danville is coming off of 58 wins in the last 6 years. So to see them start 2-4 was a shock based off of recent success, but I have no idea what all has gone into that. I am assuming injuries have to have played a huge part as they are talented.

Lastly, I too would've put Marion on this list. The 6 points per game might be more shocking than their record, but again, I do not judge as you never know what teams are battling! Look at Decatur Central who went from 17-5 in 2 years to 3-4 right now with losses to Plainfield and Moorseville, who they have beaten handedly over the years minus one or two. Anyone relatively close to the Indy area knows the injury bug has unfortunately plagued DC and everyone obviously looks for them to get back on track very soon when they're healthy.

I will add South Vermillion to my list! Never thought after losing the QB and WR that they lost last year to graduation (ISU and UIndy) they would be 6-1 right now with a probable chance to go 8-1 and a chance to compete in their sectional. Greg Barrett teams never surprise me when they're good, but this one is impressive considering what they lost last year.

  10. Love this week!!!

Brown County at Indian Creek-  Sample at BC is good schematically. He will find a way to get some yards. IC has the players and coach to win big. IC 63-7.

Cascade at Cloverdale-  Cloverdale got better over night by hiring Tyler Lotz. Cascade is a little further along in their program building, I agree. Cascade wins 34-14.

Covenant Christian at North Putnam-  I do not know much about CC. Saw North Putnam over the summer and was impressed with their scheme. But, CC 42-21.

Northview at West Vigo- Northview runs the ball extremely well. They will take control of this one early and win 35-7.

Owen Valley at Edgewood-  Long history of rivalry in this one. Can never count a rivalry team out. Owen Valley too strong this year. 42-14.

South Putnam at Greencastle-  South Putnam and Greencastle both play extremely hard. Both will play tough defense. South Putnam wins with speed 42-28

Sullivan at Linton-  Haven't seen the same out of Sullivan as we did last year. Linton runs away with this one 48-14.
