I think this one is gonna come down to coaching. Which coach can make the right and best adjustments. That's gonna decide this game.
I don't feel like LaVille is getting a fair shake here. If you watched the LaVille vs Andrean game, it really wasn't as close as the score suggested. The 59ers had a couple big plays to keep them in it. LaVille had their way with them most of the night.
I will say that LCC's passing attack will be the best that LaVille has faced so far this season. LaVille likes to bring backers on blitzes. If they can't get to the QB, it's gonna leave someone wide open.
We'll see how this plays out. JH has it 28 - 21 in favor LCC. I think it will be a close one. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go either way.

OK, so if punt doesn't go past line of scrimmage, must be free ball?? Need Bobref to chime in here.
If a kick does not go past the line of scrimmage, it can be picked up and advanced by the kicking team. In doing so, if they reach the line to gain, they would retain possession.

Alright Everyone . . .
On to the hardware round of the IHSAA State Football Tournament!
Congrats to Knox, LaVille, North Judson, and Triton - all among the 16 taams left in their respective Class!
The sectional championship pairings are:
John Glenn at Knox, Community Field, Knox HS, 7 p.m.
*Knox beat JG 37-8, Sept 15 at Knox
Bremen at LaVille, Lancer Field, LaVille HS, 7 p.m.
*LaVille beat Bremen 17-10 Aug 18 at Bremen
North Judson at Triton, Triton HS, 7:30 p.m.
*Triton beat NJSP 40-7, Sept 29 at Triton
-> Do those early season or mid september games mean anything?
-> Is everbody healthy?
-> Teams have their typical play makers. What are the difference makers Friday night?
What Say You?
as always, the game is better

I think Knox bullies John Glenn again. I just don't think Glenn has the size to win the battle in the trenches and Knox will make you pay in that respect.
LaVille is a much different team than they were in week 1. I know you can say that for all teams at this point, but I think the Lancers win and they win by a much bigger margin this time.
The score for the first Triton vs NJSP still baffles me. I know Judson struggles against the pass, but the weather this time of year can really affect the pass game. Especially on natural grass. I think Judson wins this time around.
Those are my thoughts.

I wasn’t at the game but my dad helps coach. He been the Junior High Coach for 26 years there.
From what I gathered it was 37-0 at halftime so it would seem running clock whole 2nd half and also looked like backups played whole 4th for most part.
44 - 0 at halftime. JV played the entire 2nd half with a running clock.

All:
Congratulations to the six remaining HNAC teams in the IHSAA state football tournament from the first week.
Below are the sectional semifinal pairings for the next round of action:
Friday, October 27
Caston at Carroll, 7 p.m.
Carroll - I think it's great that we're talking about Caston the Monday after the first round games. Unfortunately, I don't think they'll still be practicing next week at this time.
Triton at Culver, 7 p.m.
Triton - Culver just doesn't have enough to slow down Triton's offense. I think this one could get ugly.
West Noble at Knox, 7:30 p.m.
Knox - I'm taking Knox in this one. I don't know much about West Noble, but I think this game comes down to the defenses and Knox actually plays it.
LaVille at Whiting, 8 p.m.
LaVille - LaVille has no business losing this game. Hopefully there's no big let down after a huge emotional win last week and they can't be looking on to Bremen or Wheeler. Just take care of business.
South Newton at North Judson, 8 p.m.
North Judson -There is no reason to believe that Judson won't show up and bully South Newton around. NJSP is the safe pick in this one.

Yes of course. The defense was most definitely the issue in all of our losses! And you'll notice that despite projecting Triton to score 28 points, I projected that they would lose the game.
It'll be an uphill battle for sure, but if Triton can keep Judson's offense on the sideline by limiting turnovers and sustaining some long clock consuming drives that end in points, I'd say they got a chance!

Could you elaborate?
I believe he's referring to the overtime.
If I were Triton I wouldn't worry as much about the offense as I would the defense. Thier defense gave up over 50 to LaVille and over 60 to NJSP. If you're thinking upset, it's gotta start with the defense.

Two big differences in this game . . .
Andrean gets QB back in time for LaVille.
LaVille goes into battle without starting QB.
That changes both Andrean and LaVille.

I've been watching LaVille football for awhile now and I'll be honest with ya, the backup actually throws a better ball, but he's not nearly as mobile as Plummer is. So that takes some plays off the table, cause Plummer is amazing at extending the play and then if needed finding a seam and taking off. That will be missed. But if it came down to purely passing, Czarnecki is really good at hanging in the pocket and zipping it down field.

It's time for the semifinal round of the IHSAA state football tournament.
Defending 2A Champ Andrean at 2A No.2 LaVille is already a conversation piece and will be followed closely on Friday.
The projection tool has LaVille favored by 5 points.
John Harrell's site has LaVille favored by 10 points.
Our games this week involving HNAC teams include:
West Noble at KnoxAndrean at LaVille
South Central (UM) at Culver
Triton at North Judson

Give me:
Knox - Knox is a very solid team. They have a big offensive line and solid running backs. Looking over West Noble's schedule, nothing really stands out that makes me think Knox can't come out on top here. They'll do what do and sustain long drives and limit the Chargers possessions.
LaVille - This is an absolutely colossal football match-up! This one will be fun to watch, although, I will probably have zero fingernails by the end. Lancer Field will be electric and I believe the Lancers will have the emotional edge. I really believe the Lancers will dethrone the defending 2A champs.
Culver - This one doesn't have the look of a close game. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the Cavaliers are operating with a running clock in the second half.
North Judson - I think it's a shame that HNAC schools have to play each other this early in the tournament. I think Triton keeps it close through the first half, but the Bluejays pull away in the second half, setting up another conference rematch for the sectional crown.
If you love watching high school football, are a fan of the HNAC schools, and your team is done already, come on out to Lancer Field and support the Lancers as they seek to dethrone the 59ers! Should be an absolutely electric atmosphere for small town Indiana. The boys are excited. They've been wanting this match-up for an entire year! Should be a good one!

Lakeland at Knox - The Redskins should feel good as they head into sectional play. They are Sagarin's highest rated team in Sectional 26 and have played one the most difficult schedules of the group. Nothing's a given when the tournament rolls around, but Knox has a chance to walk away with some hardware this year. They'll be ready for the Lakers at home this week. Knox Redskins 35-14
Whiting at LaVille - I can't imagine the Oilers having anything in their arsenal that will push LaVille. They only average 12 ppg and LaVille's defense is probably one of the better ones they'll see all year. Hopefully the Lancers can use this game to get their replacement quarterback feeling a little more comfortable. LaVille Lancers 42-7
Winamac at Central Catholic - The Knights are a very balanced offensive attack and I don't see any way the Warriors keep this one close. LCC will impose their will and they win this one going away. Lafayette Central Catholic 45-7
North Newton at Culver - The winless Spartans come to Culver where they will receive a shellacking by the Cavs. Lots of yards on the ground for Shuman and his running mates. Culver wins this one easily on their road to the Sectional 41 championship game. Culver Cavaliers 40-0
Triton at Pioneer - This is the most interesting matchup of the night. I've been saying all year this Pioneer team is not as bad as their record makes them appear. There are a lot of good teams in the HNAC this year! I know they finished 6th, but look at the teams they lost to: LaVille, North Judson, Triton and Culver all have the best teams they've had in years. Knox is solid again. And the Panthers' non-conference opponents were a combined 13-5. So I see this game being close. Triton is - and should be - the favorite. But a letdown by the Trojans will end their season prematurely. If I'm a Triton senior lineman, there's no way I'm letting a group of freshmen push me around. Ultimately I think the experience of the Trojans will prevail, but it won't be decided until the 4th. Triton Trojans 31-22.
North Judson at South Newton - South Newton has had a good year! Winning 6 games is an accomplishment for sure. But these two teams have lived in different worlds this season. The Rebels were average in the very bad Midwest Conference. The Judson option will run roughshod over the Rebels and it won't be close after halftime. It should be a running clock for much of the second half. North Judson Blue Jays 49-14
West Central at Caston - I would love to see the upset of the week happen in this one! Caston played a difficult schedule and West Central's SOS was ranked 308th in the state! That's in the bottom 3% statewide. But they've won the games they've played, including a week one beating of the Comets. I haven't seen anything from Caston to indicate they've improved enough during the season to give the Trojans a run for their money this week. West Central Trojans 34-13
Love your in depth write up in your predictions. I would agree with your analysis. I'm rootin' for all the HNAC teams, though.

Seems like a modified playlist for LaVille. Not that that is a bad thing.
Used the running game much of the contest. I recall four passes by LaVille.
LaVille def. won the line of scrimmage.
That defensive line is impressive and kept Shuman from breaking free.
The offensive line opened up huge holes for the running game - I've got to believe that DeWitt and Smith had over 100 yards rushing each.
QB did well directing the offense.
Gotta believe that LaVille will have to throw the ball more during the state tournament in order to keep the opposition honest.
Impressive season by LaVille so far!
as always, the game is bettr
from_the_sidelines007
My son plays for the Lancers and he told me this week that they were going to try and keep the playbook as vanilla as possible since this is the game their sectional opponents get to scout. There's a little strategy there.
Czarnecki can throw the ball, and his pocket presence was pretty good. I'm not worried about that. He's just not nearly as mobile as Plummer is and his feet were a decent part of the LaVille offense.
Hoping for 6 more games! Good luck to all the HNAC teams as the tournament starts. Will be rooting for all of them!

I personally don’t see any of the games really close this week but that’s why play the game. Also does Culver have a broadcasting station, would like to hopefully see Laville win the title but can’t be at the game!

I'm taking LaVille 17 - 14. I think it'll be a defensive battle all night. Wouldn't be surprised at all if it was 0 - 0 at halftime.

Are you thinking they need to be off their game for you to beat them next week? Hmmm.
Nope...not at all. As a fan, it would certainly help me preserve my fingernails, though. We know that it's gonna be one heck of a ballgame. The Lancers have a great respect for North Judson and know it's gonna a fight from start to finish. The class of '23 for LaVille and Judson have been having epic battles against each other for the past 5 years. Both are very solid teams. That being said, if one has an off night, it'll certainly bode well for the other team. I believe there has been only one time in the past 5 meetings that the game was decided by more than one possession.

I would love to hear from someone who was at the Laville/Knox game on how Knox almost pulled off the upset!
It was a combination of LaVille playing their worst game of the season and Knox playing maybe their best.
Gotta give a lot of credit to Knox. I don't know the numbers, but T.O.P. had to be crazy lopsided. LaVille only had 3 possessions in the first half! 1 TD, incomplete pass on 4th and goal, and a punt. They did a great job keeping LaVille's offense off the field.
The late run by Knox was set up by some bone headed personal fouls down the stretch by LaVille.
Knox and LaVille seem to always play eachother really tight, so I'm not surprised by the score.
It was a nailbiter to watch! Glad the good guys came out on top! 😜
