Turning Clay into a sports complex that they say is needed.  Really?  They said nothing about how much money it would cost to implement this plan.  It was a very bizarre meeting.

South Bend hasn't taken care of their city parks, city baseball diamonds, city tennis courts, city basketball courts, I do not see them taking care of the "Clay Sports Complex".

South Bend does not have the student population to support 4 high schools and needs to downsize.  I remember a suggestion to close both Washington and Clay and reopen LaSalle as a high school.  I think this is a great idea, but too outside the box thinking for South Bend.  Sad.

When you have 3 or 4 sub par classes in a row poor records are going to be a result.  There have been about an average of 15 freshmen in the program each year during the 5 year stretch.  No ICCL this past fall won't help.  A  lot of people saw this coming.

Talent comes and goes.  Bad coaching will not overcome average talent.  Good coaching can make average talent preform at a higher level.  Good coaches adjust their scheme's to the talent they have.

No, the kicker has to kick the ball beyond the 20 yard line. If it does not make it there or the ball is kicked out of bounds the ball is placed at the 45. I believe the onside kick has been replaced with the 4th and 15 on your own 30 yard line.

I checked and the team kicking off has to declare that they will kick on side.  No more surprise on side kicks, but I liked how the kick off were done.

  4. It'll be interesting next season that's for sure.

    1.  What will the "new" Elkhart High bring to the gridiron?

    2.  Will we see an improve Penn team?

    3.  New Prairie graduates it's quarterback, who was a lot of their offense, what is coming back?

    4.  How will Marian do join the "big" side of the conference?

    5.  Will Saint Joe improve or are they in for another down year?

    6.  Mishawaka had a good year, will they take a step up next season?

    7.  What can be done to save the Clay football program?  Another new head coach, I believe that is 4 head coaches in 4 years.

    8.  Can Adams get something going?  With the largest enrolment in SB, why are they underachieving on the East Side?

    9.  Bremen was young, could they have a special year in 2A?

    10. Jimtown will have a new head coach, can they get back to being a state contender?

    11.  Glenn showed bits of improvement this season, will next year be another step up.

    12.  Riley was a big disappoint this last year.  At times, looked good and other times not so good.  Will the South Side rise up?

Not totally a surprise.  Coach DeBoer is on a roll.  With how the Hoosiers preformed this season, finding a new OC shouldn't be too difficult.  Especially, with the talent that is returning.

First things first however, need to beat Tennessee in the bowl and get that 9th win.

If they do, my proposal would be to close Clay and Washington and combine them at LaSalle.  It has the capacity to hold that many students while still giving a presence on the West Side.

Had not thought of this, but it is a great idea, LL.  Keeping both sides happy is going to be the challenge and this idea makes a lot of sense.

Unfortunately, in South Bend this might make too much sense.

The sad thing is why wait until the tournament.  Be competitive and show up every week

True statement.  I could not figure out the Indian's this year.  I know the schedule was tough but they weren't consistent week to week.  Starting out 0-8 and getting destroyed by the other Catholic high school tends to make alumni grumpy.  I don't have the answers, but something needs to be figured out with the program.

Indiana actually leads the all time series against NU 9-8-3.

My Dad played in the 1959 game in Lincoln, 23-7 IU win.

Yes, That was the corso scoreboard game.  LOL

Sorry DT but you are in error on this.  The scoreboard pic was supposedly taken against Ohio State in 1976.  I say supposedly because no one can produce a copy of said picture.  Lee Corso was and is a showman and was trying anything to get people to be aware of Indiana football.  In the 70's you may remember that the Big Ten was often called the Big Two and the Little Eight.

  9. The last Mishawaka Penn game in the foreseeable future and no one is talking.  This is a very average Penn team and I think Mishawaka wins Friday night 28 -14.  We'll see.

The train wreck that St Joe is this year is hard for alumni to fathom.  The sad thing is that they have talent but I don't believe that the schemes match the kids.  We'll see if they can

prevent being the first Saint Joe team to be 0-10.

  10. Typical.  A tread on IU football and all of a sudden, Notre Dame is the topic.  :classic_sleep:

Getting back to the Hoosiers, Saturday will tell a lot about this team.  Going into a hostile environment and needing a win to keep the bowl game alive.

This years team is improving and Maryland is up and down this year but are at home.  The Hoosiers are going to need a great game out of Penix and the defense needs to hold Maryland under 20 points.  This happen and the Hoosiers head home at 5-2.

Bremen at Jimtown Bremen is young and Jimtown is at home.  Jimmies win.
Central at Penn Penn is average this season and Central should win but   Central needs to play mistake free football to win this.  Not sure they can.  Penn wins at home
Glenn at Clay Glenn is improving and should win this game.  Clay will stay close.
Mishawaka at Marian, Game of the week.  Otolski Field doesn't like rain and it's raining.  It's gonna be sloppy.  Mishawaka in a tight one.
New Prairie at Riley, NP wins big.  Not sure what happened to Riley.  They looked promising early in the season.
    Adams at Washington, Washington wins.
St. Joseph at Culver Academy, My heart says St Joe finally gets a win.
  12. slow week with our NIC fans...

Penn vs Valpo:  I'll take Valpo only because they are at home/

Mishawaka vs Portage:  Mishawaka should win this one, Portage as been down for a few years.

New Prairie vs LaPorte:  New Prairie has experience on their side, they will win this game.

Elkhart Central vs Elkhart Memorial:  Central has been on the raise and they will win the last Mangy Lion game.

SBSJ vs Concord:  Concord was young last year and should win this, but it'll be close.

SB Adams vs Northridge:  Adams has talent, but are typically not fundamentally strong.  Northridge wins here.

Jimtown vs Northwood:  Both teams are young this year.  The Jimmies may have just a bit more experience, so I'll pick the Jimmies.

Marian vs SB Clay:  Marian wins big.  Clay just doesn't have enough kids to compete.

SB Riley vs New Haven:  Riley will be the surprise team out of South Bend this year.  They win this and it could be a nice year on the South Side.

John Glenn vs Boone Grove:  John Glenn has struggled for awhile.  Boone Grove has a nice program.  I like Boone Grove in this one.

Bremen vs LaVille:  Bremen lost a lot from last years team and LaVille is a program on the rise.  LaVille wins.

SB Washington vs Hammond:  I like Washington in this one.  Hammond has struggled to get numbers on the field.
