Yep...or the ones who were marginal high school football players who now knows more than the coach who has been at for 25+ years...just because they have a kid on the team...probably the same people..

  2. Thats part of my point.  We HAVE had a FEW be able to manage..while we are OUT of school.  With schools in session, we will all be together, in same building and rooms, all day.  We truly won't know anything until we all start school.  I would suspect that most of the schools in my area do not have the resources available to manage this the way we are recommended too.  I want football as much as anyone..just making a point about how we all think we can manage this when organizations with limitless resources can not..

  3. I read an interesting comment yesterday on another outlet...and I wonder too...How are high schools thinking that we can navigate all of this, with little to no resources readily available at all times?  When professional organizations and universities, with gigantic resources available, cannot get a plan in place that seems to work?  We see multiple colleges and conferences postponing..professional teams having outbreaks...what do we have, as public high school personnel, that give us an idea that we can pull it off?  This is just a question..

  4. When I read the MULTIPLE THREADS on this topic, I find a common theme..articles and studies that say its safe because kids do not contract or spread Covid.  I also read how how we should get back to normal and deal with this...i don't know what to believe and still do not have a clear cut opinion on how I feel either way...but the 1 FACT I have seen is this; multiple programs have been suspended or paused because of HIGH SCHOOL KIDS testing positive.  We won't know anything concrete until we get kids back into the schools and see what happens.  None of us know the answer..

Not quite. It only says the ends are eligible which is true of 11-man football. What they are saying is the end can be #56 and still be eligible. That's not true in 11-man.

As for the big uglies losing opportunities, from my experience there are players in 1A/2A playing OL who are smaller than skill players at larger schools.

Thank you for that clarification...so, that means that with 8 man only having 3 O-Linemen, in certain formations, they would be eligible, regardless of the number they are wearing.  So, in 8 man, as an o-lineman, I am begging my coach to create a formation that allows me to be eligible! I can hear my lineman now.."please coach, let me go out for a pass, Pleeease!"

  6. The month of July, in my opinion, will be successful at the schools who implement an integrated approach among the Coaches and Administrators.  Meaning, all the Coaches come together and create a reasonable schedule for the athletes.  WORK TOGETHER on putting a plan in place.  Do not expect each Coach to be able to do what they would consider "normal" activity.  If that happens, I feel student athletes will be overwhelmed and this thing will get shut down before we ever really get started again.  At some schools, this may require Coaches to have to concede to the thought that their program is not any more important than another program....Students are going to get roughly 4-5 weeks..IF WE ARE LUCKY...to start getting back to normal...work together, create a plan that is not overwhelming, do things the right way in getting our kids back to doing the things they want to do..

  7. That is my fear as well.  Once July 1st hits, all heck breaks loose with everyone trying to pull every kid in every direction.  Go back to the old days, for this summer, and make it about conditioning and getting back with your team.  NO competition days,  NO padded "football" days..keep July an equal playing field for ALL SCHOOLS as we all work to get our lives back to some normalcy.  That way when the first day of practice starts (safely of course)...WE ALL ARE ON THE SAME PAGE

  8. 8 man football...not a real game..I am sure that is what they think in traditional pwerhouse football states like Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Florida. All of whom field 8 man football teams.   To me, it seems these states who truely love the game of football, will find a way to play not matter what!  Heck, even this past season 8 schools from northwest Ohio decided to create an 8 man league just so thier schools could continue to play..https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2019/09/19/smaller-high-schools-resort-to-8-man-football
