Obvious advantages? Pay a crap load of money to get a good education for youe child. My son has played saint football since he was in the first grade. They won their confrence almost every year.  Good players  and kids, but 2/3 of them go to Franklin central,  Perry M, southport, new pal. Triton.  We a great feeder program for youth football,  it benefits our team and other schools too. Multiple lineman starting at new pal played jr. Saint.  Where is the advantage?

I'm not aware of any PM kids that came over from Lutheran, but I know there are 10 or more former Perry kids playing at Lutheran.  Good luck to our fellow Southsiders this week

How about Decatur Central and Cathedral? I have seen a lot of talk about the Cathedral and New Pal match-up, but this one looks like it could be a game as well.

Since DC ended their season last year, I doubt they are overlooking the Hawks this year.  But if those Tracy boys get loose on em, it could be a tough night for the Irish.

  3. Perry Meridian has a lot of problems right now, but they can absolutely compete in the Mid State.

They keep losing talented kids to other schools. They lost several kids to Lutheran and there are others now at DC, LC, and Cathedral. Their only D1 prospect moved to Chicago after his freshman year.

I like the guys on the current coaching staff and I think they are trying hard to turn things around, but it's time for a change. I'd like to see them bring in an experienced HC to overhaul the program and try to change the culture.

The large Burmese population certainly doesn't help the football program, but like others have said it's not stopping Southport.

Hopefully the other mid state schools enjoyed their victories over the Falcons in football, because they won't see many in Wrestling

  4. I'm looking forward to Perry Meridian's 2nd year in the Mid-State. The Falcons should be improved. They have a strong Senior class and return the entire starting offensive line. They will have a first year starter at QB as there is currently a battle between a returning Junior and a Senior who hasn't played in a few years.  They put a lot of time and effort into weightlifting and conditioning this offseason so I'm hoping to see a stronger team with more endurance. Last year they were often competitive in the 1st half and then faded in the 2nd. In the past they have tried to play too many players both ways. Hopefully we will see a better rotation this year to keep everyone fresh.

The Falcons will be better this year, but I'm not sure how many wins that will translate into. I'm expecting a 4 or 5 win team. If they can beat Southport and finish above .500 I will consider this season a great success.
