  1. I think that Warsaw will continue to build positive momentum towards a very good and stable 6A football program up north. I believe they will give Penn more of a challenge in the near term in the playoffs and possibly Elkhart in the medium to longer term.
Elkhart will have the athletes. its up to the coaches to develop them and create a winning football environment around the program starting in the feeder system / middle schools. I do believe Elkhart chose the right head coach to lead the program going forward.

I’m going to be in Bloomington for a meeting next Friday, and would like to catch a semistate game on the way home to the Region. Which one should I attend, and why?

I’d say leave your meeting early enough to get back home and catch the Valpo / Dwenger game. That’s looking to be the best matchup next week.. Valpo is a very complete team, offense - defense - special teams ( if needed)

  3. Valpo in a closer game then many might predict. Mishawaka has about mastered ball and time clock control to try to keep Valpo’s offense on the sidelines. It’s the Cavemen defense that needs to step up big to keep them in this game.

New Prairie should win this. JH has NP as a 3 pt favorite. Going to be close. It took Hobart 3 OT to beat CMA which NP completely manhandled last week. The NCC seemed a little down this year. Looking forward to heading out to the new Hobart High and the daunted Brickyard... kind of miss the old Brickie Bowl with the floods and the deafening train horns.

Marian wins big. (14 + spread). Could be closer than what I’m thinking especially seeing Jimtown keep their game so close last night. Knox is in a dream season this year. Maybe they pull off the upset with a rowdy home field crowd?

Marian -Marian proves to be too much 30-6
EC- Adams can't stop the run 40-17
    Glenn 28- Laville 7
Mishawaka - ST. Joe doesnt have a prayer 34-14
New Prairie pulls this one off 21-17
    Benton Harbor 21-0
Jimtown- no chemistry on South Side 36-6

    Washington  21-14

Gonna call you swami with that NP-Penn score prediction! Nice job!

What kind of numbers are you seeing for tonight’s lottery drawings?

I know I’m a bit biased but how is nobody talking about Cass in 2A? I have yet to see anybody mention them to rep the North. I see people mention Pioneer (who already lost to Cass) and Western Boone (who lost to a Western team Cass just beat). Like I said, I know I’m biased but they have got talent all over the field, and are currently undefeated but nobody mentions them.

Absolutely Lewis Cass should be mentioned in the 2A discussion BUT they will have to beat Pioneer a second time in their sectional and that will be a very tall order to do...I’m thinking there will be quite a few Cass fans pulling for them to beat Pioneer a second time (you know...new blood in Indy) if they end up playing each other again...

  6. 6A does look fairly wide open so far. I do not see anyone else other than Homestead or FW Snider up North that can compete..  id say Homestead or FW Snider are favorites to make it to semi state. Penn or Merrillville I do not think has the chops to make semis this year.

As far as state it’s nice to finally see that there isn’t a “shoo-in” type favorite for 6A. Could make for some fun games to watch during the playoffs...

  7. Marian    35-14

    Central    42-14

    LaVille     28-14

    Mishawaka     35-14

    Penn     31-21

    Benton Harbor     28-14

    Jimtown      35-28

    Washington    42-28

New Prairie has a mental block when it comes to Penn... seems like they play like they are intimidated...last years’ game should have been a lot closer than what it ended up...

I think the offense is better but the defense is not quite as good.  That team still played in the NSC so kind of hard to compare stats.  I guess have a better feel after this week’s game.

The last half of their schedule will show if they have what it takes to make a state title run. It’s going to be a really good tune up for the playoffs.
