  1. Not only do the Vikings open the season with new Coach Waylon Schenk at home Friday night. The Vikings are also honoring former head coach Carl Joe Gengelbach by naming the field after him. Coach Gengelbach was an assistant for one year before being named the head coach in 1970. Coach was our head coach until 2013 when he decided to retire. During his time at North Posey he guided his teams to six PAC championships, four sectional champions, four regional championships, and a state finals berth in 2005. He had two undefeated regular seasons (1996, 2012) and also coached the south all-star team in the North/South game in 1982 and 1997. He was President of the IFCA in 1986, served two terms as Region 9 Director and 29 years on coaches rating board. Twice voted Region 9 coach of the year and was a member of the IFCA Ethics Committee, was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 2000, inducted into the University of Evansville Hall of Fame in 2010 where he was a two year starter and three year letterman. Coach and his wife Shannon both attended Tell City High School and raised their two sons Mike and Mark here in Poseyville. Both Mike and Mark currently have children in our school system. Coachs resume does not do him justice, he has been a great teacher, coach, father, husband, role model, and a truly caring father like figure to many Vikings thru the years. Recently Coach has begun spending time at the Jr High volunteer coaching when he has time. Looking forward to honoring a great man Friday night!
