  1. Everyone on the Gid that has ever met KK in person has said he is a great guy. I have been on the Gid off and on for a long time and its probably a good thing that I don't give my opinion about some of the people on here. Good luck at Howe! Howe is very lucky to have KK as their coach.
  2. Congrats to him! I am sure he will do very well at Howe.
  3. I don't think they are sandbagging! LCC lost a lot and have a new coach. Jeff will be a tough game for LCC. I don't think LCC will beat WL and I don't think they will beat Pioneer this year. Pioneer will probably win state in 1a. LCC will probably beat Tipton. But, you never know what might happen.
  4. I found another team that didn't score a point. Boonsville didn't score a point in 1936. BOONVILLE 1936 FOOTBALL RESULTS 0 Clay (KY) 14 0 Ev Central 28 0 EV Bosse 35 0 Bloomfield 26 0 Princeton 19 0 EV. Reitz 40 0 Washington 16
  5. Has there ever been an Indiana high school football team that went through the season and didn't score a point besides Lafayette Jeff? Lafayette Jeff didn't score a point in 1925. LAFAYETTE JEFF 1925 FOOTBALL RESULTS 0 Peru 7 0 Indy Tech 57 0 Mishawaka 51 0 South Bend 26 0 Monticello 0 0 Sheridan 13 0 West Lafayette 29
  6. I just wanted to add to what smalltown was talking about, so everyone will understand how it was. He said that Lafayette Jeff won 68 sectionals and Frankfort won 48 sectionals. That is true, but what he didn't tell you was that most of those sectionals were won before Indiana started consolidating schools. Before McCutcheon and Harrison, Jeff would play teams like Wea and Buck Creek, and Central Catholic didn't open until 1958. Everyone in Lafayette had to go to Jeff. After 1970 it became much harder for Jeff to win sectionals. Lafayette Jeff didn't win 3 out of the last 4 sectionals before they went to class basketball. It was just getting to the point when you didn't know who might win the Lafayette sectional, and then they went to class basketball. Frankfort didn't win sectionals from 1966-1973 and from 1979-1983. Frankfort only won sectionals 3 times in the 1980's. Smalltown said Frankfort was in a sectional with small schools, well those small schools must have won many sectionals.
  7. I think the final straw was when Ben Davis won state in 1995 and 1996.. In 96 Ben Davis hit a 3 pointer with 1 second left to beat New Albany 57-54 in (2ot). I wonder if Ben Davis didn't hit that shot and New Albany won, if they still would have went to class basketball. In Lafayette they realized that Lafayette Jeff and Central Catholic would never play again, so they started to play in the regular season. Then they started the J & C Hoops Classic so all of the teams in the old Lafayette Sectional could play each other to find out who was the best.
  8. I know what a small school is and I know that Frankfort got beat many times in the sectionals in the 1970's and 1980's by small schools.. A small school winning a regional under single class basketball is like a small school winning state in 1A today. A small school knew that if they could win a regional they would have their place in history. Small schools won regionals all the time back in the day. Argos make it to the final four in 1979. Clinton Central made it to semi-state in 1980 and almost beat Jeff. Attica beat Boone Grove in the Lafayette Regional in 1983. Covington beat Jeff in the Sem-state in 1960. Crawfordsville made it to the final four in 1958. Rossville made it to the Semi-state championship in 1969. Attica beat Lafayette Jeff in the regional in 1968. North Judson beat McCutcheon in the semi-state in 1995. Lafayette Jeff and Frankfort lost many times to small schools. I think Attica would be more happy if they beat Lafayette Jeff or McCutcheon in Regional than if they won state in 1A today. Most small schools still don't make it to state today. How many school in Indiana has class basketball helped?
  9. It sounds like you can't stand it when private schools win. All class basketball has done is help the private schools. Central Catholic has won 16 sectionals in a row. That wouldn't have happened if they still had single class basketball.
  10. Bosse and Twin Lakes are not in 4A! It was fun for everyone and everyone I talked to liked single class basketball. Do you remember life before class basketball? Lafayette Central Catholic learned a lot more when they beat Lafayette Jeff in 1973 and 1987 than they learned beating Clinton Central this year. Clinton Central learned a lot more when they beat Frankfort in 1983. In 1986 20-0 Central Catholic played 16-4 Lafayette Jeff and 7300 people packed the gym. When is the last time you saw that many people watch a sectional game? Maybe you don't count, sir! Class basketball did not help Frankfort or Lafayette Jeff. Jeff has not won a regional since class basketball started. Its a good thing they did not have class basketball in 1954 when Milan beat Muncie Central.
  11. I understand, Trojan Dad! Its not a big deal! How do you know Cathedral will have a good team next year? Maybe we should wait and see if they win 5a next year. There were two teams in 5a ranked higher than Cathedral last year. If they only had 3 classes in football, Cathedral would have to play the best in the state.
  12. Single class still would have worked today. Maybe this year a team like Twin Lakes or Evansville Bosse could have won state. Castle is number 1 in Sagarin and they only beat Bosse 72-65 in the regular season. McCutcheon is number 7 in Sagarin and Twin Lakes beat them 52-50 this year. Everyone in the USA loved Indiana's single class basketball. I don't understand why they messed with something that worked. You say it seems like, maybe and I would bet, but you don't know and we will never know who would have won state the past 19 years if they would have stayed with single class basketball.
  13. Pioneer, LCC, and Linton finish in the top 100 most years, should they be in 4 or 5a? It seems like nobody is in the right class these days. The success factor was about the dumbest thing the IHSAA did since they went to class basketball in 1997. Maybe it would be better if they only had 1a, 2a, and 3a in football.
  14. I am against it because the most fun at Sectional time was to see if the small school could beat the big school. Small schools would make it out of the sectional if they had the next Larry Bird on their team. Don't tell Loogootee they can't win. In 1975 they made it to the championship game. In 1976 Rushville made it to the championship game. In this part of the state Frankfort will never play Clinton Central and Lafayette Jeff will never play Lafayette Central Catholic again when it is all on the line. Do you remember life before class basketball? In 1991 Rensselaer beat Lafayette Jeff 91-88 in (OT) in the regional. You will never see games like that again. I could list 100 games when the small school beat the big school in the sectional or regional
  15. I think they should forget about class basketball and go back to the way it was from 1911-1997. It is too bad that young people today will never know what it was like with single class basketball.
