  1. In Chatard’s defense, the slant was there all game. Can’t end the game without throwing it. Man coverage in the outside with no safeties outside the box. What’s even more shocking to me is even with the stacked box, Chatard put on an absolute clinic running the football.

Congrats to both teams on excellent seasons. I wish some of y’all would’ve believed the things I was saying about Chatard this week. My Guerin boys played em twice. I digress, it was great to be at the game and I met some class folks from both teams. Colts venders put out some excellent barbecue as well. What an evening.

Uh huh.  Except one of these 3A teams has been beating up on Bloomington South, Southport, and others while the other has been beating up on Tell City and South Spencer.   If you think Chatard is just another typical 3A football team, you've got a rude awakening coming.    I hope the entire HH team believes that.

Adding my 2 cents, here.  I think it's cute how the southern guys think they hit harder.  I think it's cute how the southern boys (who are ranked nationally 500+ spots below Chatard) think even a single team on their schedule would have scored more than once against Chatard's "1's."  Know how many teams have done that all season against Chatard?  One.  Cathedral.  Chatard didn't play South Spencer or Corydon (which isn't the capital anymore, fellas) or Forest Park or Tell City or North Posey.

No.  Chatard played 5A semi state team Bloomington South and beat them 42-7 with a running clock the entire 2nd half.  Chatard played a ranked 4A team in Northwood and was up at one time 48-7.   Chatard played 6A Southport and won 36-9.  Chatard traveled 2 hours and 30 minutes to Normal, IL to play a ranked team that ended up 7-3 in one of Illinois' top conferences outside Chicago, and won on their field 56-8.  There were 3 other top 10 ranked teams in Chatard's sectional.  And Chatard won those games (against those teams during the season) by a combined 175-46 this season.  Chatard played the #2 defense in the state last week....which was allowing 6.5 PPG and beat them 45-0.   Chatard does not have and does not need players who play both ways.  Chatard's QB has thrown for 31 TD's and has 4 INT's.  Chatard's #1 tailback has 32 touchdowns on the season.   Chatard's #2 tailback has 11.

Y'all can think what you want about playing both ways not being a problem.  I'm sure it's not against Tell City.  How many of their linemen are going to Tulane to play college football?  How many of THEM can squat 600 pounds or bench 375?   How many Patriots were throwing passes in the snow, jumping the stadium fence at 6:00AM?   How many Patriots went to lift every morning at 5:30 for a year because of what happened a year ago?    I think it's cute how the southern guys think Chatard recruits players.

Heritage Hills struggled to beat a Danville team that lost to North Montgomery.  Chatard played North Montgomery in the 2nd game of our sectional.  The score, with 3 minutes gone in the 2nd quarter....was 35-0.  That game could have been 84-0 if Chatard wanted it to be, and HH struggled to beat a team that LOST to North Mont.  I know, I know.  Any given day.  But that day ain't gonna' be Friday.

God bless. Somebody did their research.

I’m shocked that everyone seems to think that this game will be a blow out. I’m not trying to take anything away from either team, but the games on Thanksgiving Weekend always seem to be close no matter how much “better” one team is than the other. I think HH matches up really well with the Trojans, run-heavy and a great defense should mean low scoring. I think the Pats have a chance at the end, but fall just short. Should be a great atmosphere and outstanding game.

    Trojans 21

    Pats 17

Can’t tell you how many folks have said this before Chatard week this year. They will be outmatched up front, almost any team in the state regardless of class is

I’m guessing both teams hit hard and both have been hit hard. I’m not sure there is any research that shows a recruit hits harder than a non-recruit. 🤷🏻‍♂️  And I’m not sure it comes down to who hits harder. I’m guessing X’s and O’s and limit turnovers will be the biggest factor in the W.  HH probably has a smaller margin for errors but I thought the same last year for EM.

Trust me, college players most definitely hit harder than high school country boys. They’re bigger and able to position and adjust their body better. That’s just silly and wishful thinking

I have known many of these kids since they were little and watched them for years and this is a dream come true for them.  But getting to LOS is not the goal--winning state is.  They have heard the poison all year about "everyone in 3A is playing for 2nd place".  They are chomping at the bit to do everything they can to see that BC is that 2nd place.  No, we don't have a roster full of guys that have moved in from all over the region to play for the super school that will be playing D1 football with a few playing on Sundays in a few years.  BUT, what we do have is a bunch of hard nosed country boys that will give it everything they have, every snap--and if they have the game of their life (which I think they will), it will be enough.

This has got to be the most unselfish team I have ever seen play.

Regardless of what happens, BC may be surprised that they probably haven't been hit as hard as they will be hit Friday afternoon.

Believe it or not, but the big D1 Big Ten SEC guys hit WAY harder than the country boys. And thats coming from a country boy.

What makes you say this is the best Chatard fan ever? Can you please detail the difference between a city schedule and Catholic team than a regular 3A team? Are they faster? Do they hit harder? Pray better?

Chatard year to year has a top 20 strength of schedule in the state, playing teams with loads of D1 talent across the board like cathedral, 6A MIC teams, and traditional powerhouses out of state. And yes, typically there tends to be better football in metropolitan areas, thats true all the way across the country. Im not presuming anything, its two 3A teams, but the strength of schedule, record, and point differential for chatard is what it is.

  7. 2 hours ago, HHPatriots said:

Agreed.  It is appropriate that these teams meet at LOS.

Here is the way this MUST play out for HH to win.  I believe HH wins this because it will be the first time this year that they have played 4 quarters of football.  These guys don't start playing until the 2 half.  It isn't simply the coaches making adjustments--although they have made spectacular adjustments....in the games that have been tougher...where was the difference?  All those games that were close, then the second half showed up and those teams don't score (or score very little) and HH piles on the points.  They must come out and play every snap like the game depends on it, because against Chatard--the game will depend on every snap.  If we play like the other games where we were soft the 1st half we will likely get in a hole that we can't get out of.

The first half of all of our playoff games were very close in the first half--against GS we were getting our butts kicked, SR was tight at the half, Sinktown tight at the half, Danville tight at the half.  With the exception of GS, none of those games were close at the end.

No score prediction but I'll take HH in a very close slobberknocker--IF we play 4 quarters.

I find this very interesting in contrast to Chatard. Chatard is quite the opposite, they start VERY fast and run it up early. I believe they’ve had a running clock the second half of every game except maybe 2 or 3. And they’ve done it against a legitimate city schedule. You don’t want to start slow vs this team.

Chatard is beatable and no doubt you will see new wrinkles in the HH offense.

Who said Chatard is beatable? Losing one game to a real powerhouse isn’t considered beatable at the 3A level. Nobody else has come close, and I don’t see it happening at LOS. This is the best Chatard team I’ve ever seen and I’ve been watching Catholic school ball in the city for a long time. I’m exteremely excited for this thread this week. Finally some arrogant fans I can talk some smack to LOL. I understand the optimism but my pick is Chatard 45-10 😂

Drubbing of St. Joe?  They beat St. Joe 28-14 and 21-7 in 2010 & 2011.  AND, in the 2010 game, Chatard was up 14-7 and St. Joe was driving only to have the ball snapped over the QB's head for a scoop and score...a 14 point swing.

Regardless, we know your teams up in northern Indiana don’t fair well against chatard, especially this late in the season. Quite frankly, the only team up there that could beat Chatard is those Golden Domers. I’m thinking about making the trip up there for the game anyway if the wife lets me. What’s the best BBQ place in town?

I know that this question is going to sound a little inappropriate but I am going to ask anyway:  I know that Mishawaka Marian has had a great season, this is undeniable.  But down here in the south all we have heard is how unstoppable Chatard is!!  Question: Is there a chance in this game for an upset??

Great question, answer is a resounding no. And this is before I heard about the injuries. We all know how the northern teams fare against the metro teams. Chatard is great up front, looking better every week. Great skill position players as well and have stayed healthy all season (maybe because nearly every game had been a running clock.) This is the best Chatard team I have ever seen and this game might remind me of the drubbing Chatard used to lay on SB St Joes in LOS and the RCA dome. I’ve said my prayers for Marian and hope the rest of the boys can stay healthy. To you Chatard fans, can’t wait for you all to get back and play in Indy! Seems like a while since I’ve been able to watch some Catholic school ball. See you at LOS

  11. Pretty much on pace with what everyone else is saying. This should be a drubbing. I’ve said my prayers that all the boys from Concordia stay safe and healthy. But Chatard is way too good and there is no upset on the cards. I’m a blunt poster in here and anybody can back that up from the sectional thread. I tell it how it is. Chatard is the #2 team in the state. They will out physical and out finesse Concordia and play Catholic school ball. Chatard’s big thing is their hammer (my Golden Eagles copied them) and a hammer is what all of Fort Wayne will see. Best of luck to both teams though.

Kind of a less happening playoff thread than past years so I’ll stir the pot a little bit. I’ve got Chatard BIG. The golden eagles have played both and I like the Trojans style of play.

The O-Line is spectacular, great receivers, great backs, a qb who is deceiving, and linebackers and safeties that will hit somebody and come back for more the next play. I can’t wait for this matchup and as a neutral, I hope for a close game. I struggle to see it going this way.

Hate to say I told you so, but........

I wasn't questioning Chatard's O-line.  Merely stating that it's less a question of how Chatard's QB/WRs match up with West Lafayette's secondary and the focus should be on the line.  There are many times where a secondary helps the line by creating the ability for coverage sacks; however, West Lafayette tends to be the opposite of that where the D-line makes its own sacks regardless of secondary activity.  West Lafayette's D-line has been the focus of that team for a while and this year isn't much different.  Keep them off of your QB and you will end up with yards and TDs on their secondary.

Fair. I’m a firm believer that just about every game is decided in the trenches. Just to be clear, Chatard is not my team. Go Golden Eagles!

    Not so fast my friend!!!

Probably the best matchup of the night.  Chatard has struggled with teams in the playoffs who can spread them out.  Both Danville teams and Evansville Memorial were able to air it out all over the place, as well as win the line of scrimmage defensively.  Judging off the scores of WL games, I know they can score points and will air it out.  However, can WL D-Line and LBs handle the Chatard running game?  According to a few people WL struggles defensively and is predictable, but I believe they load the box and man up the Chatard WRs because everyone in the state knows that Taylor can beat you.  So, can the Chatard QB and WRs win matchups against the WL secondary?

I like this matchup for WL because I think they have the better athletes.  I'm expecting a lot of points in this one,  West Lafayette 40, Chatard 35

Love the Corso reference!! I feel checked! Lol. Anyway I’ve seen both teams play and I’d give the slight edge to chatard’s athletes. Some are deceiving, others are flat out noticeable (1 or 2 receivers, the RB, and a freak athlete safety)

  15. 6 hours ago, foxbat said:

I would say "yes," but the bigger question is less QBs and WRs and more the West Lafayette D-line.  West Lafayette's D-line is a tremendous asset to their secondary's performance.  There are plenty hurries and just plain old bad passes thrown because of the pressure from West Lafayette's front D-line.  From my perspective, the question is less about West Lafayette's secondary and more about Chatard's O-line.  Can they keep WL's D-line off of the QB so he can find the WRs?  If they can, the WL secondary will give up yards and points in the air.  If they can't, then the secondary only needs to be average.

Chatard’s offensive line will play with anybody in the state. It’s been like that since the early 2000s. Might be the first time I’ve ever seen a Chatard oline questioned, and this year out of all years no less. Interesting

  16. Kind of a less happening playoff thread than past years so I’ll stir the pot a little bit. I’ve got Chatard BIG. The golden eagles have played both and I like the Trojans style of play. Chatard has had a running clock the second half of nearly every game this year (exception is those cathedral guys) and I believe this is the best chatard team we have possibly ever seen. The running back reminds me of another shorter workhorse they had back in 2012. Hartley has gotta be a chatard legend. I digress, but I’ve made my point before here in this thread. The O-Line is spectacular, great receivers, great backs, a qb who is deceiving, and linebackers and safeties that will hit somebody and come back for more the next play. I can’t wait for this matchup and as a neutral, I hope for a close game. I struggle to see it going this way. To the boys from West Lafayette, go play the best that you can and try to prove people like me wrong. To the boys from chatard, play the physical ball you’ve played all season, but dont get complacent. Get better this week. Complacency and overconfidence kills teams in the playoffs.

    Chatard -14.5

Don’t understand the rant exactly. If Chatard walks through 3A and Cathedral loses to Decatur on Friday, Cathedral still beat Chatard. Cathedral is a class up while Chatard remains in their original class. A 3A Champ BCHS is still not in the same breath as a reformed 4A (sometimes 6A) Cathedral. So, if this discussion is about size, most of us on this board know that doesn’t matter.

Ill go ahead and address this as well. Ive been following catholic school football in the city for years and this just simply isn't true. Chatard and Cathedral have gone hand in hand since the beginning of time. Ill agree, the balance tipped for 4-5 years up until last year. Those were abnormally GREAT cathedral teams with D1 guys all over the field. How they arrived at cathedral is neither here nor there. But before this run was Chatard winning in '12 and nearly winning in '13 if it werent some guy playing for the Redskins now. Heard hes having an OK season :P. Regardless, Chatard and Cathedral returned to its ultimate form the past 2 years and theyre 2 of the top 4 teams in the state this year. To say theyre not in the same breath is absolutely ridiculous. Gold helmets and a castle for a school doesnt warrant that nonsense. *mic drop*

While Chatard's skill position players are good, the real talent on the team has been the OL and DL.  As long as they play well, they have a good chance of winning.

Can’t agree more. Chatard has always had strength on the line and there’s another Solomon coming through the ranks. Seems like every few years there’s another one burying DEs all over the state. Also want to congratulate WL on a hard fought win tonight. What a game. Guerin did just as I predicted, controlling the pace of the game. Just wasn’t enough. Having seen both teams play my Golden Eagles now, I like chatard next week.

  19. Welp, its that time of year again. Another regular season in the books and another loaded sectional for the CCC. From what i hear, WL is absolutely legit this year and FAST. Im really hoping to see Guerin get over the hump this year but it'll be tough. Speaking of, can Chatard finally get over the hump this year in 3A? Seems they're favored going into the playoffs almost every year. One of my favorite HS games I've watched was Chatard handling business back in 2015 beating who else (WL) in LOS for the title. They were so sound that year. Go Golden Eagles!!
