I've sat back and watched these comments, and here's what I have to say. My 2cents worth, whether you want it or not. Coach Nowlin, you haven't liked Eastbrook since they beat Rensselaer 21 - 3, when you were favored to whoop Eastbrook's butt. Ever since then you have found a reason why Eastbrook would lose to whoever they play. Xstar, 1st and Goal, Sgt DingleBerry, well what can I say about last years game but this. I was there that day. I watched all the games, as I am a high school football fan. And that my Grid Iron fans was THEE most poorly officiated game I have ever watched. Hence why they have instituted "Instant Replay" this year at the State Finals. You should be thankful they didn't have it last year. Otherwise that trophy would be sitting at Eastbrook right now, not at WeBo. And read on before you get your panties in a twist. It is NOT because of the backward pass toward the end of the game with 3:00 minutes left that would have clearly been returned for a TD. Let's go towards the end of the 1st half where the most horrible pass interference call I have ever seen went against Eastbrook. Eastbrook leading 14 - 0. WeBo went for it on a 4th and forever. Safety makes a perfect play on the ball, and gets a pass interference called on them. Eastbrook at the time was steem rolling WeBo at the time. Lucky for WeBo, you ended up scoring on that drive. If they don't call that, Eastbrook gets the ball back I do believe on their 37 or 38, they either score, or at least kick a field goal before halftime. They go in at halftime up 21 - 0, or 17 - 0. Ok speaking hypothetical, but clearly a bad call that clearly would have changed the complexity of that game last year. My 2 cents being, the Refs changed the outcome of that game. Next bad call of the game was another pass interference against Eastbrook in 3rd Quarter, 3rd and long. WeBo ended up scoring on the drive in the end. Again, Refs deciding the complexity of the game. Add in "Instant Replay" guess what, play comes back possibly on one or both plays. Eastbrook wins that game easily last year take away both of those horrible pass interference calls. As for the Andrean game, I watched it streamline, I was told that the Referee said the Andrean player touched the ball at 9 yards, before it went 10 yards. That was the ruling. And sorry, sad but true, that is the rule, if you touch the ball before it goes 10 yards, that is where it is spotted. And guess what, that is where it was spotted. Also on the opposite side of the field it was ruled a catch and fumble. Was his knee down, possibly so, I don't know. Bottom line, when you turn the ball over 5 to 6 times, it is very difficult to win a game. I don't care what team you are High School, College, or NFL. That's football. Come Saturday, the better team will win, the team that is better prepared will win. I am happy that instant replay has been instituted that way the game can be decided by the young men on the field, not by the referee's or the one side line judge last year was a leaning a little bit toward the WeBo side. Since his whistle seemed to blow after the young man picked up the ball after he picked up the fumble and headed toward a TD and would have tied up the game with 3 minutes left. OOOoooops, did I just say that! Have fun with that one! #2centsout

What in the Red ring wearing, cow bell ringing, steak sandwich eating, officiating complaing, sister kissin garbage are you Talkin. Bro, the best thing out of that region is the freakin banana splits @  Ivanhoes, so don't let yourself get fooled in thinking that there's any place worth mentioning past the blue ring. Adamson is a great coach, no one disputs that, so stop that nonsenses now. There's not a person outside of Eastbrook that thought you were ever gonna win last year, if you cant see by the numbers Xstar showed ya, well you are just biase. Get to the mountain, then talk. I got the CHAMPS repeating 35-14.

if we are scoring at home on thing he was wrong about, add that this guy has some sort of "Axe to grind" against Eastbrook.   If you listened to the Semi State game on demand, you can see for yourself the wonderful things I had to say about Eastbrook, their coaches, program and community.  Though, I guess its a badge of honor that @2Cents4myOpinion led his rant off with me......   so I got that going for me!!   🤣

Thank You Sir!!   Pleasure to also enjoy the early sights and sounds that Semi State provided.

If I had any disdain for Eastbrook I would not of drove 3 hours to "work" a game hosted by Eastbrook.    Just saying.....

Coach Nowlin is a GID veteran son, if you insult him, you insult us all! That's just un American man. I dont know how you handle yourself up there in the "Land of the red rings", but down here in Boone County, we show a little more respect for a football legend. We are down here Makin Webo Football Great Again.....

Is there a shot both teams meet next year? I know eastbrook returns some dudes on D and a couple on O.

    What about webo?

Aw man. Next year. Great question. We are loosing one of the most talented classes Webo has ever had. Filling some of the lineman holes will be tough. Having the luxury of Spencer Wright is def irreplaceable. I didnt see us returning to Thanksgiving weekend this season because of what guys we lost last season. But, the staff plugged guys in and made adjustments. Hell we could be better than last season this year. We are returning a lot of key componets next year. Not to mention guys with a ton of experience. Our sophomore and Junior classes have basically had an extra year of experience because of our post season success, and that is huge. Webo is like a lot of schools, our kids have been running the same off/def since 2nd grade. As long as kids stay dedicated to the things put in front of them, the sky is the limit in Western Boone County.  Id say a run into the holiday isn't out of reach, but a sectional/regional title is more of a realistic goal. The conference should be a lot tougher next season with some teams emerging( Lebanon,Danville, maybe TW) Hopefully we can get us a 6'4" QB transfer from somewhere. You know of any that wanna live in beautiful Advance or Jamestown? I can work on getting them some help with utilities if need be...

Just not smart enough to come up with it on your own?

I knew you couldn't make it all week without running it a bit! I kinda hope you do win, I'd hate to see you break the red ring record....If we are counting your red ring reading score! Should we be saying the you represent all the EB fans like you presumed about us? I've met some, so I wont. On a side note, did anyone see that I'm in the positive category for the first time! Im sure the Captain will lead a charge to change that though.

WEBO young WR and DBs were the culprit vs Western from my film study as we got that game in exchange with Western week 3 prep.   Webo looked talented but young at some spots and of course excellent coaching of Pelley and his staff, those young guys matured throughout the year.   I believe Webo was up 28-7 in that game before a hectic 2nd half throwing barrage from Western.

That analogy is spot on. Adjustments for the better have been made.

I’m not sure about “starters” but Webo has a lot of guys back that I thought were really good players last year. In particular #16 Wethington. Kid was an animal on both sides of the ball. I think this will be the best game of the weekend and that Wright makes a play with his arm late to get Webo back to back Titles. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Eastbrook win though. So well coached!

What amazes me most about this year is that we haven't relied on #16 at all this season. He is obviously a good player, but we've had other guys pick up for him. He has been injured a lot this season. #24 has absolutely changed the season. our underclassmen have contributed more than I would of ever thought. I hear all the grumbling about how we will struggle next season, but with our returners, I see us atleast getting out of our extremely weak sectional. I would of never guessed ( with what both teams lost to graduation) we would be seeing this rematch. Im excited as hell!!

SMH - just when I thought we had put this nonsense behind us and you all could move on to focusing in on what would be a great back-to-back accomplishment, you just can't help yourself throwing jabs.

If you think 2017 was a "moment-in-the-sun" or flash-in-the-pan for SR, then you haven't been paying much attention in the 2000s really.

2002 - State Finalist (lose a close one to Luers, who was a juggernaut at the time)

2006- State Finalist (lost another close one - this time to Harding)

2007- Semi-State, lose to Heritage Christain

2008- Sectional Champs, lose a mud bowl in Regional

2009-2012 - Run into some VERY good MD teams who just happen to be in our sectional most years

2013 - Sectional Champs, lose in regional

2014 - Lose to MD in Sectional

2015-2016 - Spend some time up in 3A...make some Sectional Championships, but run into some very good Brownstown teams

2017 - Finally reach the mountain top

2018- Semi-State ...you all put it on us pretty humbling.

Certainly not mind-boggling/blow you away run, but we're proud of it nonetheless. Most years not mentioned up there we spent dealing with a certain P/P in our neck of the woods that is known to be pretty good (MD).

I really regret this back-forth, you all should spend your energy being exciting for another great season and potential State Championship. Best of luck this weekend.

Lets just call a truce and be done. We are only giving it, because we are getting it. I admit its petty, but that's what people do when confronted about something they love. We both have programs that we are proud of. You are right about us needing to focus on the State game.

I know nothing about these 2 teams and I’m too lazy to read @foxbat’s analysis. But, LCC has done this a whole bunch of times..... kind of like Sheridan used to. I don’t want to say Catholics play football better than Lutherans, but give me LCC in a mild upset 21-13.

"Catholics play better football than Lutherans".. Great comment!

Call it what you will- just responding to a comment you made about the “CLASS” when the score was 42-7 with under a minute to go in the ballgame. Like I said- careful throwing stones.

    Best of luck next week.

Are you talking about a 5 yard bubble pass our Freshman threw to another Freshman against your starters?  Because the last TD was a QB read and the freshman QB kept it and scored after a PF penalty that gave the Freshman a 1st down.  We kneed the PAT.  Lol.

    You’re a joke.

I mean the FRESHMAN even scored on South. LOL. They quit. They quit and wanted to go home.  You wont get thru to him 1st and Goal, I honest to god still got a Southridge guy who texts me and makes excuses about last years SS. I don't get it, they think its some sort of hotbed down there for football. I didn't go back and look but I believe Southridge has the only Title this decade(Southridge, HH,GS, whoever else gets looped in it). I hope HH wins a title this year, just so our "lower region" can get some confidence back.

I won’t get into the back & forth or what happened last year anymore.  That game was 1 year ago.
I’ll simply say this, Webo will show up Saturday prepared for a Dogfight.  Coach Pelley & his staff will game plan for Eastbrook.  I look forward to the game Saturday at Noon.  Safe travels to Eastbrook and their fan base on Saturday.

I got a feeling, this isn't your last comment before Saturday lol, but I love the highroad path! Look, its hard to beat a team twice. But, given these aren't the two same teams, Ill take whatever team has Spencer Wright running the show.

    You gotta get there first!

I realize that. Thats why you havent seen me say a word about beating TC. I admit, i did said something to you about beating EB. But after last season and watching them play a few times, I have no doubt the results would be the same, if we both get the chance to be there the day after Thanksgiving. Like i said before, Im pullin for EB on Friday, Id rather see a public before a private. Just my silly opinion.

Perhaps a little dose of reality is in order here...certainly WeBo had a great run last season in winning  the 2A State Championship and looks to be a really tough out this year as well.  However, based on IHSAA records over the past 2 decades 1999 - 2019, WeBo has won just 6 Sectionals & 2 Regionals, including this season's results to date.  This hardly qualifies them to be the standard bearer for "football being different up past I-70!".  Slow your roll.

Last I checked,  there are a number teams located well south of I-70 with same # of State Titles and far more success at the Sectional, Regional, & Semi-State levels than WeBo over the same 20 year period, including, Heritage Hills, Southridge, Evv Reitz, Mater Dei & Memorial.  "Football may be different past I-70" but there is no evidence it is any more successful, esp at WeBo.  Good luck the rest of the tournament, based on what I saw vs HC, you could well hoist your 2nd straight State Title trophy at Thanksgiving.

I never once said Webo was the standard. I may smart off, but I'm not naive. My "football past 70 comment' was in regards to the strength of schedule comments. Besides there are  schools with in walkin distance with more titles than all mentioned teams combined(Sheridan, Chatard, Warren). I know exactly where Webo fits in amongst those teams. So saying I said we belong in that convo is only a theory in your mind. The only negative( which i didnt feel was) was aimed at the Eastbrook guy who said EB will beat anyone they face while playing like they are. I said the defending champs have something to say to that. Hell, i heard MD fans saying they didnt see anyone in front of them in route to LOS. I appreciate you saying we had a good shot to return as well.

I mean no disrespect to Triton Central, but I just don't see this being all that close.  I realize common opponent match-ups can be misleading, but TC lost to Indian Creek by 8 and MD flat-out pounded Indian Creek in a running clock game that was never even close.  I really expected IC to give MD a game.  With what MD has done the last 2 weeks to 2 good 2A teams, what does TC do?  How do they stack up to Linton and North Knox?

Please for your wallets sake, dont bet on sports!

Not certain what “hype” you are referencing with your comment but my follow up would be to ask if you have seen them play; live, in-person, on tape, at all?  Have you read a newspaper article on them, checked out a box score?  Hard to evaluate any team without some base line perspective.

On 11/14/2019 at 2:25 PM, itiswhatitis said:

Hype?  You need to take off the blindfold and maybe look up what that word means.  Mater Dei's schedule:  two 5A teams, four 4A teams, two 3A teams, and only ONE 2A team.  TC's schedule:  two 3A teams, five 2A teams and one 1A team to which TC lost.  Mater Dei's SOS is 124 while TC's is 185.  Mater Dei went 7 - 2 against that schedule only losing to 5A Castle (on the road) 13 - 0 and 10 - 3 at home against 4A Memorial who is still in the 4A tournament.  Mater Dei beat #6 ranked Evansville Central (ON THE ROAD) 10 - 7 in the 8th game of the season.  I don't know where you come up with "hype".  The facts are in the numbers.  Their defense is the strength of the team. and their kicker is the best I've seen this year.  What is TC's best win, 3A Greensburg, the 32nd ranked 3A team?  TC has nothing that Mater Dei hasn't already seen.  Athletes?  They've played against good ones.  Offense?  They've beaten good ones.  Defenses?  They've scored on good ones.  Sorry, but there is NO "hype" surrounding Mater Dei.  I'm telling you they are THAT good.  Oh they still have to play the game.  It's just a formality.

With all do respect, football is different up past I-70!
