Is he a former option QB?
He is not, but he's a heck of a coach and might have some ties to the River City.
So did they approve the building of the new field, weight room & meeting room? Or is this a wish list?

Donnie, I know a guy. Perfect fit for the Ramblers.
If they were smart, they'd make a run.

Without football at the high school, they did garner a youth football team in 2008. They played youth ball in the Little Gridiron League and there was talk that, perhaps football might be coming back, but after just that one season, their youth program folded.
An old timer told me he thought they had football back in the 40s. I'd have to look back through some old season records to see if that were true.

I'm sure Rossville will also decline to participate in 8-man football.
It's weird when you drive by and you see the soccer field and track and no goal posts.
I would tend to agree. Probably won't see the pigskin here. The rumor was they had football at one time and then dropped it. Are you aware of this?

Sheridan vs. Kirklin (Clinton Central) is one of the oldest rivalries in the state. I believe it is now over 100 years.
The Hawks have played football since 1899.

Fr. Dudzinski's brother is also a priest!
There's also a guy on that list, who is very modest and would hate to have his name mentioned, that spent LOTS of time ... 25 years, even before he had kids of his own ... with the youth program and was responsible for getting me involved all the way back in 2002. His efforts went way beyond the LCC program and helped with youth football across the area and touching several counties around here.
Three of the brothers are priests - Ted, Andrew & Brian (St. Maria Goretti Parish in Westfield).

Agreed. I've been saying this for a number of years. Frankfort boys basketball opens it's 2023-24 tomorrow night with it's traditional first game against Clinton Prairie. The Gophers are favored, as they should be. Students in increasing number of fleeing Frankfort for CP.
Would they have one sport that would stand out in the HHC? I'm not familiar with their whole athletic program. Soccer? Baseball?
Frankfort and Benton Central would fit in the HHC, much better than they do in the Hoosier or the new conference. The Hot Dogs would certainly save on travel in the HHC.

Good call.
Interesting question though. If a school the size of Frankfort drops football, what other conference with similar sized schools would want them?
Hot Dogs to the Hoosier Heartland! It would be a good fit for them.

Westfield should be favored, but with the game being at Crown Point it could have an effect. HSE went to Carroll as favorites last year and got knocked off, so the bus ride and travel distance could even it up.

Based off watching the games last night, I was very impressed with AC. They will be a hard out for anyone left in 1A, including Lutheran.

You can't answer the questions so you double down on the insults because maybe that will cover up your lack of response. You were all chums with me on the other thread talking about wanting to get a drink and be friends LOL. You liked my criticism of the coaching in the past but not now, odd.
Just like YOU said before, I also want to "right the ship for Sheridan" and the quality of coaching is a clear issue that YOU have agreed with very recently! What changed?I can't wait for your lack of response again...
I would do my criticism/critique away from an internet message board. I have plenty of answers.
You want to talk about it? I'm all in, but not here.
I am curious as to your thoughts from last night's game? I thought the old man outsmarted the HC of ND. On a side note, how does the coach of ND even get to work around children after his stunt at HH?

Which part is uncalled for? I said I respected him and he should be praised etc. etc. Do I have to come to the alter you have for him and kiss the feet of his golden statue?
Again, you're proving my point, everyone loves to call "blasphemy" at the drop of a hat but not one person will answer the questions I have about the clear issues. Respond to those instead of crying for Bud Wright, he's surely taken plenty of criticism in his long tenure, this is nothing!
Tell me how running the same plays 3-4 times in a row consistently is good coaching.
Tell me how running the EXACT same defense, no changes, no adjustments, everyone 2 yards off the ball every play even in 3rd and 20+ is good coaching. If you can't answer the questions and tell me how these and other coaching decisions are considered good coaching and make Sheridan coaching untouchable to criticism, then you need to keep your mouth shut.
Your original comment was not respectful. If you want to act like a tough guy, you’ve come to the wrong place loudmouth.
You’re a disrespectful dbag. Don’t act like a badass with me. You’re just a turd who thinks he knows it all. What level have you coached and what are your accomplishments? Don’t come back with the “I played football” argument either.
I can’t wait for your big boy response. Or your threats. I’ll shut my mouth when I choose to bubba.

You must not be watching much Sheridan football then... and it's mostly the defensive coach, defensive scheme is so poor and no adjustments ever made.
If you think running the same play on offense 3-4 times in a row consistently is good coaching, then I'm not sure what to tell you.
Outcoached at Eastern this year and last week at MC... If you want details, I am happy to provide them, if you know football it's all very obvious.
I respect Bud a lot for his outstanding record and place in History but that does not mean he has an advanced football mind; it simply is not the case if you watch in person.
I think when you coach for 60 years in 1A football there are going to be some good players/teams in that stretch... blind squirrel or broken clock references come to mind.
He should be praised for his longevity and giving that town some great years to be proud of, but can we stop with the ridiculous "Blasphemy" claims acting like the man is a god or untouchable to criticism. We should be able to speak the truth here and call a Spade a Spade.I think you have overstepped here sir. If you've never spoken with him or talked football with him, you need to keep your mouth shut. You have no idea what you're talking about. You can think what you want, but for what he has done for the Sheridan community and school system deserves some respect.
Uncalled for, totally uncalled for.

Just offering friendly advice to the good people from North Decatur.
Forgot to add: If you do get your car towed for a broken taillight, remember to pay the impound fee in cash (small bills) to make it easier for the lot owner to split the fee with the officer who wrote the ticket.
Here's some friendly advice:
Fix your tail light and slow down.
Should I give advice on traveling to Indy? Make sure you're carrying and invest in some body armor?

The jokes about the hat, the tie and the short-sleeved white shirt aside, his teams always executed well and played hard.
The family has had a tough last couple of years. Prayers to the Gilbert family and to Coach Gilbert.

As someone who also officiates and knows how hard it can be, it just wasn't their best night.
Were you at the game? If you were, what level do you officiate as you would think you would have been working Friday night.
It may be better to admit that the MWC just wasn't very good. North White loses to a 1-8 team and WC loses to a 4-6 Tri Central team. That might be more of a reason than blaming 'poor officiating'.

Carroll @ Tri-Central - Cougars with the easy W.
Sheridan @ Monroe Central - should be a running clock, but MC could hang around just under that in the second half.
Eastern @ Bluffton - this should be a close one, but I'll take the home team.

My apologies. I mistook WC for Frontier in the SN game.
I'll still stick to my TC prediction. Sorry for the confusion.
Frontier or WC, didn't matter.
I stuck with TC and they pulled it off. They will not be so fortunate this week.

Now there is something we can agree on... I've only been following Sheridan closely a few years now, so it is mostly the same old Sheridan to me(Post State Championship years)
I've been hated on pretty hard on here in the past with my complaints about the coaching at Sheridan... Lots of respect for Bud Wright but the old school ways(no play book on offense, no defensive calls, same coverage EVERY play) just don't really work anymore like they used to. I have not seen Sheridan beat a team with the same size/speed/talent or better since I have been watching in person the last few years. I have seen, however, a few games Sheridan should have won when they had better size/speed/talent. Eastern game this year is a great example. The results just speak to the coaching quality dropping off.
Sheridan still has a great football community and Coach Wright has raised a town of people dedicated to training the next generation for Sheridan football so more good teams to come but not great ever again in the Bud Wright era. They will still be able to win most of their games each year on the backs of the talented children of former state champions who raise them well enough to compete for HHC and sectional titles each year.
All that said, should get another Sectional Win next week and then see if they can hang again with a similarly talented team in Regionals like last year. Preparing for disappointment and hoping for the best for the kids.
You and I should be friends and talk some football over a cool beverage. I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm not worried about being hated on or popular anymore. It's time to right the ship.

Ice is only good for injuries. If you are using ice in any drink, you're ruining the drink.

One game into sectionals feels a little early to start fielding the voluntary move up shots.
Dilly can have the greatest game plan ever developed for tonight but without the athletes it won’t really matter.
⬆️ Not my words. Everything I've read says the 3A tourney is over before it really started. Don't make yourself a target and not expect people to take shots.

What does Chatard have a lot of?
Apparently talent and humility.
Chatard running clocks the field every week through turkey day. Everybody else needs to move over.
Even in the 70s they were a top 3A team, which was the top class at that time. Why are they so happy to beat up on all the little guys and not voluntarily move up to 4A or 5A?
Start taking your shots fellas.
