  1.  NorthWood (11-2) at Leo (11-2)

Good semi-state matchup to decide who represents the north in 4A and earns the trip to Indy.  Northwood's last trip was 2016 and a loss to Roncalli, while Leo has never reached the state finals.  Although they did have back to back Semi-state losses in 2010-11.

Leo while tough all year, is definitely playing their best football of the season lately.  Their studs in Hurst and Schott are game changers, on both sides of the ball.  All Decker has to do is just manage the offense and get the ball in his playmakers hands.. which isn't hard for him to do.  And they have found some lightning in a bottle in De'arious Carter out of the backfield.  I think their D is what will surprise some people though.  Yeah Schott will shut down one whole side of the field but they are all solid.  Every.. single.. player... They got their work cut out for them this week though.

Also got to give it up for Coach Doerffler and his staff.   These kids are playing tough, playing disciplined, and playing fast.  Their playbook is wide open and they always seem to have a blitz dialed up at just the right time.

I admittedly know little of Northwood other than Tuggle, but they took care of New Prairie pretty handily which was impressive.   I think the game being at home I would have to favor Leo, but should be a good one!

    SECTIONAL 19
      Sect Class Overall
    Fort Wayne Wayne 1-  0 2-  0 5-  3
    East Noble 2-  1 4-  1 6-  2
    New Haven 2-  1 3-  1 7-  1
    Leo 2-  1 4-  2 6-  2
    DeKalb 1-  2 2-  3 5-  3
    Fort Wayne Dwenger 0-  0 0-  0 3-  5
    Fort Wayne South 0-  1 0-  3 1-  7
    Angola 0-  2 0-  2 1-  7

Man, what a bruiser of a sectional.  3 top ten teams in the 4A polls, plus Dwenger and Wayne who slug it out in the SAC.  Who do you guys got in this one?  I'll always go with my Knights but man did they get probably the worst draw out of everyone.  @ New Haven to prove last week was no fluke, then @ Leo which is always a slugfest.  All to earn the chance for one more home game against probably Dewnger.  What y'all think?

  3. While I am not shocked at the outcome, I am a little ticked because the game could have been closer.  EN had 2 good drives in the first half turn into zero points.  It could have easily been 14-14 at the half.  Throw in a stop on D for EN at some point in the second half and this game is close.  Coulda, woulda, shoulda though... Gotta give credit to Snider though for making the plays when it mattered most.  A sure sign of an elite program.

The explosive combo of Buchanan and Billingsley was too quick and shifty.  They broke and juked so many tackles it was actually fun to watch.  The quickness at which they scored every drive was impressive.  Sniders ability to move the ball down the field quickly and in large chunks is what made this game never really seem close.

I know Dwenger is getting a bad rap, but I know this program well enough to understand that you never underestimate them when they are playing within their weight class.

That's what I'm thinking.  I fully expect a game against Dwenger in sectionals would be just as tough if not more so that playing Columbia City.  I think Sectional 19 definitely got tougher with the change.

    3. East Noble-the first losing season at EN in 20+ years isn't going to sit well in Kendalville nor with Caoch Amstutz.  I see some form of a "revenge tour" happening this season as the youth movement from last year starts to pay off.  The Knights may very well have the BEST running game in the NE8 this year behind Reinbold, Krehl and Mosely at RB's.  All 3 are as hardnosed as they come and will grind out alot of yards on the ground.  The Knights return Brazel at QB who in 2 years behind center is yet to really shine but he could do some damage this year off play action.  I wouldn't be surprised to see some packages put together for incoming frosh QB Phillips as he will be the future (and a VERY dangerous one at that) at some point.  The defense will be key in a run at the conference title this year as they will face playmakers week in and week out.  They, I believe, cannot afford to be conservative here, especially this year....

I definitely agree about our run game.. that 3-headed monster and our O-line is going to make games miserable for opponents.  And remember the name .. Rylee Biddle... He'll make an impact all over the field.. DB, WR, QB..

Angola @ Dekalb:  Coin toss to me .. Angola by 7

Columbia City@ Churubusco:  CC has lost a lot to graduation but still has one of the best playmakers in the NE8, maybe closer than some think, CC by 7.

Bishop Luers @ East Noble:  I think EN will have one of the better D's in the conference this year, the O.. well it is what it is... pound the rock, and pound the rock some more.. EN by 14.

Northrop @ New Haven:  I challenge anyone to find a better group of skill players in the area... NH is going to be TROUBLE for defenses.  Can their own D stop anyone though?  NH by 6 in a shootout and the SAC starts 0-2 vs, the NE8.

Heritage @ Bellmont:  Screw it, they gotta get off the schneid at some point.. upset city.  Bellmont by 3.

Huntington North @ Eastbrook:  A whole new offense for HN this year so not sure what to expect.. I'll guess they make a few plays to make it interesting .. Eastbrook by 14

Leo @ Kokomo:  Most peoples' pick for conference favorite, but Leo still has to prove it.  Tough road trip week 1 but I think they get it done.. Leo by 7.

Mississinewa @ Norwell:  I don't think graduation hurt anyone more than Norwell.  Still some ballers but they take a step back this year.  Ole Miss by 10.
