We have NIL for high school players here in California, but I haven't really seen that much impact, yet. The power programs before NIL are the same power programs after its implementation.

Would the free transfer be exercisable any time after the student's freshmen year or only exercisable between a student's freshmen and sophomore year?

Just curious as I am out of the loop on this topic, but how do other states do things when it comes to seeding? What is the most popular method?
Is it solely by record in most cases? All schedules are not created equal so would it incentivize a softer schedule for some schools? How does schedule strength factor in?
Here is a good article summarizing how it's done here in Southern California:

Well let's just say....I am no longer optimistic..
Penn was thinking oh we will get a Marcus Freeman type reaction....they got...clapping. Watch this video....it is cringe and bad.
I totally get what you are saying, seems like adults trying to manufacture a level of excitement for the players. It just looks/ feels flat. That said, short of Marcus Freeman coming around that corner as the new HC, who would have delivered the level of excitement the administration was hoping to receive. But winning has a way of generating excitement, that will be the real test.

If the IHSAA created an "Open Class" that was intended to be comprised of the best 32 teams in the state, regardless of enrollment numbers, and inclusion was voluntary, would they be able to fill it?

Carmel, sorry, your three new high schools will knock each other out in sectionals.
They don't seem to be having a problem losing in the sectionals with one high school!

Carmel fascinates me. Tied 7-7 going into the final quarter against Homestead and finally winning on a pick-6. Homestead proceeds to get embarrassed by Noblesville the following week. Is Carmel good, bad, or average. How good is Detroit King? Trinity? Maybe Carmel is a wait and see until Week 5?
I thought about asking this same question. Hard to get a read from as far away as I am but glad I'm not the only one with the same observation.

The last time Carmel lost in sectional play two years in a row was 1990 and 1991 (coincidentally I was a member of both teams which likely explains it!). If you believe in trends there is clearly something wrong with the program! On a serious note, are we discounting how good Westfield may be based on Carmel's history?

There are a lot of people in the same spot you are in. They hang around to check topics once in a while, and to read through game threads to see how games are unfolding. You don't need to be adding anything to keep your account open here. It may be here when your grandkids start playing. 🙂
This is so true. I've been gone close to 30 years but find this forum to be the one remaining connection I have to Indiana (although now my oldest daughter is a Freshmen at Indiana so I guess there are two!).
