  1. South Newton (-6.5) vs Attica.  — My Montezuma bookie is giving Attica +6.5.  The pride of joy of Riverton Parke, Brad Bevis, gets a W for the Newton’s and evens his record to 4-4.  Here’s to hoping Attica draws Cloverdale in the sectional and gets their first W  In two weeks.  SN 30 Attica 20

NV (-13.5) vs FC  —  This game could be a toss up/pick em, but the Mustangs have trouble scoring points.  Outside of Attica, they are the lowest scoring team in the conference.  Factor in the coaching advantage and NV covers the spread.   Coach Sage - Draft the paperwork for FC be called the Pretenders.
    NV 42 FC 27

RP vs PH (-23.5) —  I won’t deny it , I’m a proud RP grad with a growing allegiance to the Roncalli Rebels   I’d love nothing more than to see Coach Sanders rip off a few winning seasons in the next couple years.   To me, the story of this game is coaches and not for the reasons stated above.   What’s the record for the number of coaches that attended Franklin college on one sideline?  Moore Jr, Batty, Petrillo, and Neely!!   Before you know it, Big Chuck Sorrell and Ryan Good will he added to the staff.  Someone get Coach Sage an honorary Grizzly degree before he’s jettisoned for not having qualified.   RP covers with the points given. PH 50 RP 27

SV (-3.5) vs Seeger —   The tailspin continues for the Patriots   SV climbs to 4-4 with a chance to get the D1’s above .500 next week vs Attica.    SV 42 Seeger 13

Covington (-42.5) vs Tri County —  This one goes to a running clock quickly.   Coach Brown gets to rest his starters early. Unless their are records to break, this one may be closer than it appears, simply due to starters not playing.  Trojans cover      Cov 60 Tri 13

Looking ahead to the sectional, South Putnam will win again this week making them 7-1 and on to a meeting with Linton next week.   I’m personally looking forward to that game as a barometer for how good Chuckie’s team really is.

It appears the Falconmarts learned a valuable lesson:  don’t get into a shootout with the Wolfs.  Someone said the loser of that game would win the sectional…I want some action on that please!

Sorry coach - no gambling from the sidelines.  That’s only allowed in baseball if Pete Rose is coaching.   But, I’ll take the action.  NV + 21.5 if played at NV.  +24.5 if played in Rocktucky

So people can make up crap about Attica faking the covids, call them the worst team in the state but we can’t talk about a coach resigning because there’s no media link?

Donnie - Let’s not get carried away and try using logic.   Ideally, yes this forum is about W’s and L’s, matchups and fans/coaches communicating and discussing our favorite teams and rivals.  In reality, it’s more fun to talk a little trash, add some humor and determine if the Mecca Tavern really has the best tenderloin in the Wabash Valley.
Unfortunately, we have some coaches use user names to post, which is fine and I understand why.  Most keep it lite and respectful, but others are obvious homers and find some sort of enjoyment seeing other lose and potentially lose their jobs.  I’m with you, I don’t agree how this forum is “policed”.  It feels like some are protected, while others (Attica, etc) are free game to create narratives for.  And that doesn’t fit the bill.
Until then, South Putnam is -150 in Vegas to win the sectional with PH a close -120 odds.   If you had an extra $10k to bet, throw it on Attica or Cloverdale and cash in a few million.

Sheridan did lose to Delphi as well, 14-12.  I'm sure this battle of HOF coaches looks good on paper, but the Hawks aren't even close to what they used to be.  Coach King continues to get revenge for the 2007 state championship game and Seeger pulls out a win.

I think Coach King and Coach Batty are both still having nightmares about kicking to and playing defense against Nick Zachary in that game.

Mr Allen..........Covington +40 would mean they were a 40 point underdog.  Vegas Bookies would be sleeping with the fishes if they put that line out there!!

Stupid +/- keys on my keyboard.  I stand corrected.   I’m going back to finance and less gambling.

Covington @ Attica - Covington by as much as they want... Karrfalt continues to show why he's the best player in the conference.

FC @ SV - This game is kind of interesting just because of how close FC played Seeger on Friday. If FC doesn't let the qb throw all over them they might have a chance in this one. The running back from FC is second in the conference in rushing yards as of now.. Two different style of football being played in this game. One wants to throw and play no defense and the other wants to run and try to play defense... I'll take SV 28 - 12

PH @ NV - Potential to be the game of the week but I believe PH has too many athletes and is overall just a better team then the Falcons. The qb for PH will play this week and he will throw all over the Falcons. NV will put up some points but will sadly lose the game.. PH 56 NV 28

RP @ North Central - I'll take the Panthers in a tough game this week. RP's running back will run wild against the T-Birds and RP wins 24 - 12

Sheridan @ Seeger - Good game here. I know nothing about Sheridan but they are usually pretty good and they put up 66 points last week.. considering Seeger played FC that close last week I'll take Sheridan to win 34 - 20

Is FC actually getting better, or did Seeger have a bad game? Maybe Hall has finally got that program back on track after all...

Will Crabtree be able to hold the Wolves offense enough to keep the game close?

If Karrfalt is the best player in the conference... who is the second best?

Cov @ Attica - If Vegas was allowed to put lines on games, this one wouldn’t be any less than Covington +40.  Covington ends the season with Attica, a winless non-conference opponent and RP.   Kuddos to coach Brown for (re)-taking over the team and adaptions to his players to find success.   Covington 50-12.  Take Attica and the points.

FC @ SV - If SV loses this game, WRCSage may never call RP the pretenders ever again.  I don’t believe the D1’s fall to 2-5.  Coach Hall has changed the offense this year from the midline look to spread/zone, but FC still doesn’t score many points.  FC’s wins are against Frontier, Attica and RP w/ #24 not playing.   SV 42-24

PH @ NV - Johnson plays, NV will see the spread.  If he doesn’t, they get the Wing T.  Maybe Crabtree will agree to run the Single wing if Moore agrees to win the Wing T.  No passing, all runs and the game ends in less than 2 hours.  Regardless, PH wins handily.  35-20

RP @ NC. - Now this one may be a game with no passes.  NC is back to the wishbone double TE offense that Nolting ran well there.  RP is a double wing, double TE team at their core, but have thrown the ball more more in the recent games.  Both teams’ weaknesses are their defense.   RP wins, 40-20

Sheridan @ Seeger -  Despite the talk of Seeger having a down year, they are quietly 4-2.  Sheridan, followed by SV and then NV rounds out their season.  Never doubt Herbie, but if you are, do it this week.   Sheridan’s only loss is to Western Boone in week 1.    Sheridan 30 Seeger 20.

If we are looking ahead to sectionals, keep an eye on the South Putnam Eagles. The Big Dog Chuck Sorrell has his birds at 5-1 and humming along.   Their match with Linton in 3 weeks is intriguing.   I don’t believe they are as good as the team that beat PH last year, but so they have to be to win it all again?

Best Player: Karrfait.   Stats and wins don’t lie.   SV QB1 is a good player, but you can’t be the best player in a conference playing for the largest school and a hall of fame coach and have a losing record.

Best Athlete:  there’s no argument, its Christian Johnson.

If the Wolfs are without their QB I will change my prediction:  Wolfs 52, D1’s 38.  New total is set at 90.  That is a game changer.

If the Cats lose to the Wolves (without QB1 Johnson) and fall to 2-4, I’m formally submitting paperwork to legally change the usage of “pretenders” to the team west of the Wabash and not named North Vermillion.

Best game of the night.  A loss by PH makes the conference standing a little more interesting.
