Running clock start of second half.  Varsity played the first series on O and D second half then it was JV rest of 3rd and all of 4th. JV scored twice I believe.  Gotta say how sweet the Whiting facilities were.  Never had been before, and I was impressed.  Cool town.  It was crappy that the visitors had so many more fans in attendance making the long drive over the home team.  In the end this is high school football and they should have had some home team support.  Whiting had heart and top notch sportsmanship.  LV is healthy and ready for the Championship.

Culver played over there a couple of times when Whiting was 1A. Their fan support was pretty strong back then. Their facilities were cool with a turf field (rare in 1A) and you could actually see the lake and downtown Chicago from the stands. A railroad track ran by the field with trains going by every so often. Definitely a memorable place to play!

HNAC has invite letters out to Cass, N Miami, Rochester and S Central.  Not sure any will bite- Cass I could see more interested in TRC as they tried to get in there when MIC dissolved.

I could see North Miami being interested. Playing the 1A schools in HNAC would be more of a fit than Peru , Rochester and Wabash

    define “significantly”

not much different than teams in TRC

    Rochester 495

    northfield 275

    Southwood 240

    north miami 287

    winamac 387

    pioneer 313

    triton 258

All the schools that remain in HNAC would be 1A in football except Winamac, who just moved up this year. Caston and Culver are under 250 which is about half of Rochester. I define that as significant.

I hadn't thought of North Miami, but they would fit pretty well.  I could live with Rochester and North Miami, although I'd be surprised if Rochester doesn't end up in the new conference with Valley.

I’d push for North Miami, North White, West Central, or South Central for HNAC. Argos and OD don’t have football and several other sports (wrestling, track).  I doubt Rochester would join as they would be significantly bigger than the schools that remain. Westville is too far from most of the schools

Imo. Culver's team last year was better then this season.. way more size and more weapons.

Culver had like 8 or so contributing seniors on last years team, so combined with this years big senior class it was definitely more talented overall.  The addition of Coach Foust has opened up the offense a little more for this years team though which has served us well.

Some additional fun as the 2022 IHSAA State Tournament begins.

Let's pick a winner each week until the HNAC is eliminated from the state tournament.

    Friday, October 21 Games

    Lakeland at Knox

    Whiting at LaVille

    Winamac at Central Catholic

    North Newton at Culver

    Triton at Pioneer

    North Judson at South Newton

    West Central at Caston

    What say you this week?

as always, the game is better

    from_the_sidelines007

All the HNAC teams win except Pioneer and Winamac

    Culver vs LaVille

Culver should be feeling very good. I know Ortiz has been out or was out for a bit. I know they had a couple lineman out against Triton.  Shuman is an absolute animal. Mike Zehner is an outstanding guy and glad to see even what they lost last year still being 4-4 is pretty good.

4-4 would be good, but we are 5-3

Knox keeps it rolling.  What does Culver have this year?

Culver is at about 20 players right now with 3 out due to injuries.  8 of the 20 are seniors. Knox has a lot of speed which allowed them to rush the ball well around the ends.  Their linebackers were also quick and closed rushing holes quickly. They definitely were better than I thought going in.
Having played both Judson and Knox already this year, I would pick Knox to beat NJSP next week

Anthony Schuh is likely the best back LaVille will see in the regular season.  (Last week he went for 219 yards on 8 carries - 4 TD's)  Triton's O-Line is experienced and good sized.  I don't think it's a stretch to say that the Trojans could pound out a 10-12 play drive that would put up points.  I don't see Triton beating the Lancers, but I'd be surprised if LaVille pitched a shutout.

With all due respect to Schuh, Allen from NJSP is likely the best

John Hendryx retired after leading his beloved Winamac Warriors to a conference title last year.  This race will be a good one and a real dog fight until the end with lots of contenders.

Should be an interesting year with several teams capable of winning the title. I see NJSP as the favorite, but there are at least 4 other teams that could win it
