Heard he was wanting a pay raise so he thought about heading north. Obviously wasn’t good enough to get the AD job at SV

He won't be heading to any school anytime soon after the 5-year contract extension that he just signed making him the highest paid coach in the WRC.

And he didn't apply for the AD job.  I saw the interview list and he wasn't on it.  He doesn't want that headache of being at the school every single night all year round.

You're a fan, so you should feel this way about your team.  I'm sure they appreciate the support.  For the record, Seeger is a borderline 1A-2A school with a little under 400 students.  SV is the largest 2A school with over 500 students, so not truly an apples to apples comparison.  You should at least dip your toes a little deeper in 2A & 3A in the out of conference just to give you some idea of what you're up against.  Beating up on weak or mediocre 1A opponents only gives you a false sense of confidence.

As for this week's games, I see only NV as a slight favorite over the Gophers.  If the game were at CP I might lean a different way.  If Seeger were home I might take them, but the trip to Walton tips the scales to the Kings.  CC has to be heavily favored over RP.  It doesn't matter if they play on grass, turf or a cornfield, CC has athletes and they may slow down a bit, but not enough.

In order prepare for the season, we had preseason scrimmages against 4A Southport, 4A Terre Haute North (twice), 4A Terre Haute South, and 3A Northview (twice).  In regular season, we played 3A West Vigo.  We don't solely play smaller schools.  Against differing opinions on here, we parents don't get to choose who is on the schedule.  We play the team that is on the schedule.

We were beat last week by a good Cascade team.  There is no shame in that.

I don't think putting them up against bigger schools would help them much.  Sv has been 2/3A for years, and has barely been able to win against small 1A schools for the most part.  Most importantly though is that they always think they are badass!

Proud of our sons and their accomplishments does not mean we "think we're badass."  We are, however, very proud...Proud of Coach Barrett and his staff and the program they have built.  Proud of the character development/community service  aspect that is built into the program.  Proud of our "12th man" for packing the stands at both home and away games.  Proud that they have turned around a program that was struggling.  Proud of the 2 youth football super bowl wins this season and proud of the Banks of the Wabash tournament win for our middle school program.  Proud of Coach Barrett's 100th career win as a head coach.  And yes, we are proud of winning the WRC conference championship.  It's a shame that some of you take that pride as arrogance.  I wish you all could see what I (we) see.

Week after week, we read on here that we are "1A dominant" like it is a negative thing.  We read that we should be winning those games and because we were 2A...and that we should be in a different conference.  I never once read the same thing about Seeger, which is also 2A.  And I don't ever remember reading that we should be in a different conference several years ago when we were getting beat by your 1A teams...then it was OK that we were in the conference when your teams were beating us handily and running up the score on the big, evil 2A Wildcats.

This season is over and next season started Saturday morning, Wildcats.  Visor up, baby!

You got a lot more than Liptons to worry about. Southmonts is the dark horse in that sectional

Like I said, we play the next game on the schedule. Southmont is tough. There are a lot of tough teams in our sectional…and we are one of them. That’s why you play the game, right?  If we believed everything we read, we would put down an “L” on our bracket and go home to cook some Fettuccine Alfredo instead of playing the game.

Nah, that doesn’t sound fun. I believe we are going out to make some noise every night we are blessed to be able to play!

By the way, you may want to stop by this Friday and lurk in our student section. You might just get lucky enough to score a sweet visor!

By lengthy post season run you mean 2 weeks?

What’s your proposal, Donnie?  Roll up in a ball and cry?  You play the game that is next on the schedule, man… one game at a time!  Would Linton be tough if we get the opportunity to play them?  Absolutely!  Will I be on the track in my short skirt cheering on the team?  Absolutely!   You know that phrase “Any Given Sunday”?  Let’s change that to Friday…Any team has the chance to beat another team…Any Given Friday.  If we get to Linton, I’ll take my chances with these boys!

    Go Cats!

North Vermilion at Attica - I think I upset Donnie last week with my 11-man comment.  Sorry Donnie, with you being dead and everything you'd think I'd have more sympathy.  Your team take another thumping this week as NV rolls the Ramblers.  Why do all the self-proclaimed princesses and hot girls not like the Ramblers?  Jealously, I dare say?

Parke Heritage at Covington - Trojans still have enough left in the tank to ram it to the Wolves.

Seeger at Fountain Central - I'll take the Mustangs at home.  Even though I have 'family' connections to Seeger (not since the early 60s), FC and their HOF coach pull this one out.

South Vermilion at Riverton Parke -  didn't visors go out of fashion with Zubaz pants and backward hats?  Give me a real hat and some Beechnut Wintergreen.  SV will still win though.

Let's think, royalf00tball is someone that doesn't like Parke County & Seeger but likes FC now?  Would this someone be a fan of a HOF coach with a mediocre record and 1 state runner-up (to Ballhawk's team, of course!)?  Am I getting warm royalf00tball?

Donnie, I think he is ganging up on both of us...You wear the Zubaz and we wear the visors.

Plus, visors are the perfect combo...shade for my eyes, but allows the sun to glisten off of my flowing, golden locks!

Week 6 is here already. But before getting to the games let’s give some Donnie Baker special mention to the following.
Both teams from Parkes county. Several including me had them getter blowed out but they both kept it close.
Next the Attica football team. I was out road tripping and looking for Lucy Drapers and the Princess but ended up at Fountain Centrals. Even though they overmatched they played hard and clean the hoe game.
And last Coach King. If you just look at the score it’s hard to know how much he tried to take it easy on the young Ramblers. JV running backs were in before the first quarter was over. No passing, didn’t rush or return kicks either. After one series in the 2nd the rest of the JV came in. He also let a 300 pound OT run the ball on a 2 point conversion and the students went nuts. He also won Homecoming King at halftime. The lineman not Herb!

Enough cheesy stuff. Back to the games and making the South Vermilions cheer coach mad!🤣

    North Vermilions at Attica

    The Woofs at Covington

    Seegers at Fountain Centrals

    South Vermilions at Riverton Parkes

Game of the week should be the Seegers-FC game.

Donnie, I think you are probably referring to me as the SV cheer coach.  Get it right, man!  I'm not the cheer coach.  I'm the best damn cheerleader on the whole squad!  And if you think you are making me mad, you're mistaken.  It takes a whole lot more than this to make me mad.  This is fun!  I am having as much fun trolling you , as you are trolling me.

Now, back to practicing my toe touches and back handsprings.  I have an important solo-tumble during the halftime show at RP this week!

I'm not one to normally argue... especially behind a screen online because that is pointless... BUT

"playing up" for pre-season scrimmages and playing teams like West Vigo and Sullivan the first two weeks of the season is not what most would consider "playing up" when the 'Cats can manhandle almost the rest of the conference.

Just a thought.... but I'm also JUST a helpless princess with minimal football knowledge... so take that however you want.

I think I get your point, but... Can we hang with THN and THS?  At least some scrimmages we can.  Is our coaching staff going to set up scrimmages against Ben Davis and Warren Central?  No...we would get slaughtered and risk injuring players.  Playing up within reason and being reckless are two different things.

As for a "helpless princess," those are your words, not mine.   I've seen your previous posts.  To me, it looks like you are pretty knowledgeable and appear to be well connected.  You're not a helpless princess; you're a warrior.

Nobody is making excuses Hawks. It’s just kinda funny reading how awesome they are playing all smaller schools.

2nd and foremost how does this help them in week 10? Your ode school played up to prepare them, right?

And if those Hamilton county chics don’t like Zimas they probably don’t eat frog legs or crawdads either.

In preseason, we scrimmaged against 4A Southport, 4A Terre Haute North (twice), 4A Terre Haute South, and 3A Northview (twice).  We beat 3A West Vigo handily.  Does that mean the Wildcats are going to walk to a state title?  No, certainly not.  We are going to have some bumps in the road.  We proved that against Sullivan.  But do we take opportunities to "play up" to prepare for the long haul?  Absolutely.  Until then, we'll play whoever is on the schedule next.  I am proud of them and I like our chances.

    Wildcats for the win. baby!

Must be an off week for Wildcat Willy, he's been silent this week. Covington by 10.

No, no, no, Chumps.  Fear not!  Wildcats Willy is here!  I'm just laying low and getting a chuckle from all of the SV haters and their comments about "1A dominance," visors, Italians, and spray tans.  Donnie, do you understand we just play the games on the schedule and don't have the opportunity to cherry-pick smaller schools?

    Fountain Central winning against Attica

    North Vermillion big over RP

    Seeger beating Parke Heritage

South Vermillion and Covington... do you even need to ask?  Give me them 'Cats, baby!

Wildcat Willy…..is it true that if the 2A Wildcats beat the 1A Falcons on Saturday that there will be a parade down 9th Street, and free spray tans at the local tanning salon????

Wow! Jealous much? Don’t worry little Hermie. We will gladly welcome you in our beautiful little town… Tanning salons, visor shops, and all!

    Visors and spaghetti for everyone

I don’t know, Donnie. I’m not sure he would look good with a visor wrapped around your greasy little mullet.
