Every time Warren/BD change coaches, they fall farther and farther behind CG.

In the time Eric Moore has been at CG, Warren has had 7 head coaches and BD has had 4, now 5 (assuming Moore comes back this fall.)

    Nothing to see here.

I’d say that since 2000, all of those coaches have had pretty successful tenures for Warren outside of the present. But all the current coach has done is be a winner everywhere he’s ever been.

It isn’t like they’re on a long run of unsuccessful coaching tenures. It can also be argued that every coach that’s left never found the same level of sustained success they had at Warren.

Yeah I knew that. The question is though: will it be enough to spark a victory over the Trojans at Center Grove.

Maybe, maybe not. A lot of it could be the product of bad competition, but I definitely think it's a different offense with this new QB. Will it be enough? I'm not sure. Center Grove is Center Grove and that's a tough place to win in the tournament. But I like Warren's chances much better today than I did two weeks ago.

What won't help is one of Warren's best kids on the OL was ejected last night, so you know what that means for next week.

  3. I'm as much as a Warren homer as they come, but if they don't clean up the turnovers, they have little chance against BD.

Warren has given up 60 points in the last 2 games, 9 total scores. 6 of those 9 scores have come directly off Warren turnovers due to short fields. Additionally, at least 3 of those have been directly returned for TDs. It doesn't matter how good Warren's defense has played at times, you can't live like that.

The unfortunate part is that Warren has been able to run the football well, but have had no threat of a passing game. Multiple turnovers in every game though, including a couple games with 4 is just brutal. As much as I hope I'm wrong, BD wins 30-24. (I'm going closer because weird things happen in this game every year)

Carmel beats LN 24-10, Center Grove by a lot, LC wins 28-7.

  4. Ben Davis played a good game. That's for sure. Warren didn't play well and I heard weren't great in practice this week. So BD took advantage of that.

That's all I'm going to say about that. If I say how I really feel, I'll be kicked into oblivion on here. If you think it's okay to decide a game on something EVERY team does, than that's on you.

Agreed, but I also believe CG is better than WC with or without Steele.  They gave away the opener.

Sigh. I guess Warren should just pack it in for the rest of the season because there's no chance for them because they can't beat Center Grove without Center Grove giving them the game.

Teams grow. Warren is a lot better now (and only getting better) since that opener, and whether they were "given" the game or not, they still won it.

I agree with Carmel, but I can’t see WC making it past CG or Avon in the tournament IMO. With Carson Steele set to be back this week or next, I think that they’re going to go on a tear. Avon is looking like a very dangerous team right now. Should be interesting to see how everything plays out.

Fun fact: Warren is also allowed to get better too (and they have). Great defense with an offense that's starting to put it together. I wouldn't exactly write them off.

I know this has nothing to do with this week, but this is something I think would be very cool to do.  That in the future  you get the MIC and the HCC to play in a challenge week, sort of like what the ACC and Big Ten do with basketball  You could do this week 2 and have 1 threw 8 play each other or have a blind draw on what teams get to play each other,  Some might say well who gets home field,  This is one way it could be done is one year all MIC is home the next is HCC

I don't think it'll ever happen. A lot of the MIC teams already play at least one HCC team. The ones who don't have supplemented their conference schedule with out of state powers (Trinity) or other marquee programs (New Pal, etc).

    It's an intriguing idea though.

I'm going to go with Kurt Tippmann. You don't hear his name thrown out there much outside of northeast Indiana (at least I don't) but he's in season 11 as a head coach (all at Snider) and has a 110-24 record. Of all the current coaches out there that have coached 10+ years, only four have won 80% of their games or more (Tippmann, Reed May of Brownstown Central, Brian Moore of Parke Heritage, and Cory Yeoman of Penn). Tippmann's Snider Panthers are in the third toughest conference in the state and he's one of three head coaches that have knocked off a Kyle Ralph-led New Palestine squad. Add in a 2015 5A state title and he's at the top of my list. Hard to deny what he's done.

If Warren beats Ben Davis and Pike in the next 2 weeks, I believe Jayson West joins that group as well.

What Kurt Tippmann has done at Snider is certainly impressive. Beating New Pal alone is really good work

I can't identify exactly what's going on with BD right now other than they've been pretty inconsistent. I don't have a good feeling about Friday night, but, if there's ever a time to put your foot in the turf and say no more...it would be Friday. I'll still be in and with the purple win or lose.

Absolutely. Better days are ahead for BD, for sure.

I think it's pretty obvious that the "grind of the MIC" doesn't apply this year, nor does it apply every year like alot of MIC schools and supporters like to claim.  Let's be honest about it. This year Warren, Carmel and Center Grove are very good teams, no one else is any more than average at best.

That's 3 teams of an 8 team league. And this is in a down year. Last year there were 4 very very good teams and this is in a stretch where Ben Davis is down.

15 of the last 17 with just one school managing to repeat in that span. Last 4 years, 4 different winners. Same conference. But yeah, totally not a grind every year.

BD is not responding to adversity very well. Had the chance to be in the lead at halftime, but the pick six on the first possession of the second half seemed to devastate the team. Friday night will be a major challenge...hoping we have something for WC.

Rivalry games are always different animals. Especially at BD. Coming off a tough loss, I'm sure they'll be ready to play.

I don’t disagree with any of your points.  Just pointing out the “coach spin” that takes place every October.

I get it. I'm sure every coach will spin it "We had a great season, won the MIC, did good." One convo I had with someone well involved with a MIC team and he said, "Winning the MIC shows you are capable of winning state but once week 9 ends, it's back to 50-50 unless you have one of those real special teams."

And under the current format, that's correct. Whether you go 7-0 in the MIC or 0-7, you're starting from the same place come tourney time.
