Warren Central Open.. Kirschner resigns
WarrenGrad12 replied to 1st_and_10's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
If you were going to hire a coordinator to lead your program, what would you look for? Coaches he's worked for? Success in his role? Experience at the level you play at? He checks all those boxes. He's worked under the last 3 Warren coaches too at one point or another. It also isn't unheard for a coordinator to immediately jump into a head role and have early success in the highest class. He's also hiring a defensive coordinator with head coaching experience so the staff will shape up to be a good one too. -
Warren Central Open.. Kirschner resigns

It has to be a grind. I’m shocked that they ever went the route of having your AD be the head football coach too. Just seems to be too much for one person to handle as both those roles require a lot of time and investment. I will be very intrigued on who their next hire is. When they brought back Criss Beyers for boys basketball last year, that was kind of surprising but a very welcome one. Wonder what the football hire will be like. -

6A Tournament Discussion
WarrenGrad12 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
It has been relocated to Warren because Tech is “unable to host.” It also says that Warren will still be the designated away team so I don’t think it will impact possible regional hosting. -
I still wouldn’t count out Warren and here’s why: it’s not necessarily about their ability to beat LN because LN is going to have a tough road before a potential rematch. The question is: would Warren be able to beat Center Grove and that’s a good question. I don’t know but I think it’s a better shot than if they played LN again. Many times the team you think is going to go through gets beat and it opens things up greatly. Warren’s offense looked much much better last night with a different QB both passing and rushing. We shall see.
-
Genuinely curious: how come it’s a weekly topic that Warren hasn’t played anyone yet LN has an opponents combined record that is actually worse than Warren’s? Someone will compare LN’s performance against to BD and then I will point out how Warren had little issue with LC as opposed to LN.

BD dropped just on Warren and 2 extra possessions from the 10 yard line to boot.

He’s got nothing to lose. If they lose, it’s pretty much what IU has always been. But his talk seems to be instilling a confidence in them that the program hasn’t had for a very long time. IU is going to go into at least 6 of their final 8 games expecting to win. Even the Michigan game won’t seem as daunting given Michigan’s style of play and the fact it’s at home

Temp’s Top 25 (Week 5)
WarrenGrad12 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Last year, a struggling Warren team who couldn’t score was down to a freshman QB on the road vs a top 10 Ben Davis team. Almost beat them. In fact, had the opportunity to do so. Ben Davis must have been overrated last year too….oh wait. Maybe something is to be said about heated rivalry games -
Immediate ones that stand out from the Warren side: -Finally getting over the hump in the 2003 regional. -The 2006 1v2 massacre (Darren Evans is still running) -2009 was a very underrated and fun game, OT at Lucas Oil if my memory is right -2010 meeting which I believe was the last time BD was shutout So many awesome matchups over the years with great and painful memories for both sides.

Week #4 scores

Warren up 26-0 on Lawrence Central -
I don’t know if my Warren heart could handle seeing Coach West on the opposing sideline….. He is by far one of the nicest, most generous humans I’ve ever met and a great coach to boot.
-
CG-BD: I think BD keeps it close early but CG is too much and wins 31-17. LC-WC: LC’s offense can be explosive but Warren’s defense is too much to overcome. WC wins 27-10. NC-LN: LN just way too much for NC. 42-7 final. Pike-Southport: Pike bounces back against a STRUGGLING program, 40-10. Carmel-Trinity: This one is intriguing. It’s hard to peg just how good Carmel is. But Carmel is a tough place for anyone to win it at so they get it done, 24-20.
-
Warren isn’t playing the victim card. They are practically guaranteed to see CG in the regional so they’re using the regular season as an opportunity to get other teams on the schedule. If they were playing the victim, why keep Carmel? If you ask folks at Warren, that game has much more significance as a rivalry because of the state championship history.
-
I don’t know enough about these out of state teams to make a prediction but I have a question for you: If Warren scored 21 points in every game this year, what would their final record be? Not saying on average but if they got to that mark each week?

Schedule doesn’t exactly lighten up after Pike either…

Warren Central at Snider (Wayne High School)
WarrenGrad12 replied to BTF's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Also, the kid who will likely be Warren’s best offensive player didn’t play Friday night due to illness. The one who transferred from Westfield. Warren is perfectly fine up front, have depth at receiver, and a lot of really good depth at RB. The only question is QB and it was game 1 vs a good defense. As opposed to recent years, I believe the answer is on the roster which hasn’t felt like the case the last couple of years. A couple of things: 6-3 for Warren would be much better from where they’ve been basically since 2019. Especially against their schedule. I think the defense is good enough to get them to 7-2, but I know I’m biased. -

Hard to derail a season that never got on track in the first place, thanks to Snider 🤪 Warren has had some humbling losses these past few seasons, especially at home. I think Snider last year takes the cake. And it’s a credit to Snider. Last year, to be a 5A team and walk into Warren’s house and blow their doors off was as impressive a performance I’ve seen. -

Strange but true: this is the first season opening win for Warren since 2019. Regardless of the “they should win, it’s Warren Central,” that has to feel good for Coach Kirschner and the team to get the job done to open up what really needs to be a big year. -
By “big games,” you mean Michigan and Ohio State, two teams that are clearly better than them? Otherwise, Ole Miss is the only program they’ve lost to since 2021. And their postseason ranking matches up incredibly consistent with what they’ve been preseason the last couple of years. So, unless you think Penn State’s ceiling is higher than 3rd in the Big Ten, then I don’t think it’s fair to say they have underachieved, at least as of late. They had a couple underwhelming years but got them back on track. And fwiw, Franklin’s win percentage at Penn State isn’t terribly far behind what Paterno’s was. Maybe it’s just Penn State is what it is. A ceiling as a top 10-15 program that can break in the top 10 on occasion

Ben Davis has its man…
WarrenGrad12 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Not too surprising as Ben Davis has always hired from within. And he has worked under an impressive list of coaches. -
Ben Davis football

I’d say that since 2000, all of those coaches have had pretty successful tenures for Warren outside of the present. But all the current coach has done is be a winner everywhere he’s ever been. It isn’t like they’re on a long run of unsuccessful coaching tenures. It can also be argued that every coach that’s left never found the same level of sustained success they had at Warren. -
Temp’s Top 25 (11/05)
WarrenGrad12 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Maybe, maybe not. A lot of it could be the product of bad competition, but I definitely think it's a different offense with this new QB. Will it be enough? I'm not sure. Center Grove is Center Grove and that's a tough place to win in the tournament. But I like Warren's chances much better today than I did two weeks ago. What won't help is one of Warren's best kids on the OL was ejected last night, so you know what that means for next week.
