  1. Also, there isn't a narrative that when you lose in the tournament, it's because the schedule grinds you down. It's because there's been an imbalance in the way the draw goes. Carmel goes North while the other 7 go south. But that's changing next year which means the MIC will cannibalize itself even more. They've eliminated the possibility of an all MIC title game because they see it mostly inevitable every year unless Carmel has had a down year. Until proven otherwise, beginning next season, the 6A state championship game could effectively be the south semi state
  2. The narrative is that the MIC is the best conference hands down until someone else can beat them when it matters. Actually, that's not a narrative, it's fact. Brownsburg was undefeated last year, they get hammered by Avon, who in turn gets handled by a team that finished 4th in the MIC a year ago. Your Alabama example isn't relevant because they don't play everyone in their conference a second time. Perhaps a more relevant example would be 2017 Georgia. They won the SEC, but lost the national title to a team in their conference. The MIC has been toppled twice since 2001. All the good programs in Indiana and most of them hardly stay competitive in the tournament vs the MIC with the exception of 2 years. Oh, and one of those years the team joined the MIC a year later and was coached by a guy who is 62-17 at the job he left them for.
  3. Warren 38, LC 21. Lawrence Central has 2 kick return TDs tonight
  4. It can also be both. The MIC no doubt helps you prepare because A) you'll most likely face everyone again and B) you likely won't face anyone in the tournament tougher than what you see every week in the MIC. Quite a few teams recently have gotten through the MIC unscathed once, only to lose or almost lose in a rematch in the tournament. Warren last year with North Central and Center Grove. Ben Davis with Warren in 2017. In 2016, Warren didn't lose to anyone in Indiana in the regular season and got drilled by Center Grove in the rematch, only for Center Grove to lose to a 4 loss Carmel team in the title game. In 2014, Carmel was unbeaten before losing to Ben Davis at state. In 2013, Warren lost 3 games and avenged all 3 losses in the tournament. I could go back further but you get the picture.
  5. 2010 was the year where Carmel, Warren, CG, and BD all lost in the sectional, the latter 3 in week 1.
  6. Since 2007, the MIC has won 9 state titles and only 3 I believe won the MIC outright and they were all undefeated teams.
  7. I'm not saying you'll be wrong but why LC over Warren? I'm genuinely curious from a football standpoint.
  8. Also beginning the season against Warren, New Pal, and Carmel doesn't exactly help you ease into your season as well.
  9. I think BD upsets Center Grove, Carmel handles Pike, LN just gets last North Central, Warren beats LC. I think Avon beats Brownsburg, Fishers beats HSE, Westfield beats Noblesville, and Zionsville beats FC.
  10. I might be with you here. Both of these teams need this W big time to get the season on track. Hard to imagine a CG-BD matchup where the teams are a combined 1-5 but here we are.
  11. I recall a lot of similar sentiment last year when LC beat LN. That was supposed to turn their season around then as well. This could be a crazy thought but perhaps LN isn't as good as what we all thought after beating a bad team and a 4A team? Just a thought. Even then, LN had their chances vs LC. It very well could turn their season around, don't get me wrong. But Warren is a better defense than LN is and Warren is probably looking forward to facing a defense that's giving up 27 points a game.
  12. In your estimation, was it more about Pike making serious strides or more of BD having a lot of work to do?
  13. Carmel-CG went about how I expected it to go, as did WC-NC. I think the two surprises were BD-Pike and obviously LC-LN. Is this going to be the start of turning the corner for LC or was it just LN maybe not being quite as good as what we thought? Sometimes getting into conference play will do that to you.
  14. Warren beat North Central 28-7. It was a weird game. It didn't feel like a blowout but it also never felt like North Central was in the game.
