If you take away points scored on JV or turnovers the Brickies Defense would have shutout the whole conference.

I think this says more about the conference than Hobart’s defense.  Again I haven’t seen them play and maybe they are that solid.   Not to be disrespectful, but shutting out Highland twice, Munster, Griffith, and a down Lowell team just not really that impressive.  As they say though you play who is on the schedule and the Brickies did the job against those schools.  Only time will tell.

Brickies had 9 seniors become eligible week 4 and they didnt really start playing until week 5. 5 of those 9 are starters I believe, with the other 4 contributing often.

That is a pretty interesting bit of info.  Getting almost a quarter of their starters back gave a boost to second half of the season I’m sure.

Respectfully disagree with boom, this hobart team can really do it all. Dynamic offense and truly one of the best defenses in the state. Np and Ketterer are awesome but running QB power 30 times wont do it vs this defense. This will be a tough game for both teams after watching nearly every game from both teams my biggest question is how will NP stop Hobarts offense.

The stats certainly don’t suggest that Hobart is an offensive juggernaut.  Solid sure, but not an offense that makes you say how can it be stopped.

Getting to a 10-2 record obviously means you have a good team.  Which wins on the schedule would you consider quality wins?

As for the QB power 30 times, sometimes it just takes 6 or 7.  Ask any Mishawaka fan.

  3. I kind of agree with Goldrush.  NP and Plymouth definitely have different styles and I think the physical play of New Prairie wins out in the end.  That being said, I would be pretty surprised if Plymouth doesn't put some points on the board.  The Plymouth coaching staff will have their team much better prepared than CMA was.  I think the Cougars can get some pressure on the QB (looking at stats he doesn't run much so you know where he is going to be) and the DBs have to keep the ball in front of them, tackle the catch, and make Plymouth sustain drives.

Mishawaka and Central should be a great game.  I think most folks are leaning toward Central here, but I kind of think the Cavemen sneak out a victory.  Didn't Coach Kinder say in an interview that they were missing most of the defensive line with injury the first time they played.

I would pick Penn to win this game, but what the heck happened last week?

I think Marian wins pretty easily against the Jimmies.

I've been a new prairie fan for 40 years!!!!    I'm saying new prairie hasn't came close to playing a team to what Plymouth does.   And that's a fact!!!!!   Baron is one of best QBs in state.    When I read people saying new prairie is winning state I'm just hoping they get out of sectional.

I certainly think Plymouth has a quality team and it’s quite possible whoever comes out of that sectional should win the regional as well.  If you are trying to say that NP hasn’t seen an offense like Plymouth yet this year, I would say that cuts both ways.  Plymouth hasn’t seen an offense like NP either.  Baron does seem like a quality QB.  In case you haven’t been paying attention NP has a kid at QB who can play just a little bit too.

i haven’t watched the Plymouth/Concord game yet, but I didn’t think they were overly impressive against Northridge.  If you turn the ball over to NP 5 times like Northridge did in that game NP will score well over 35 pts.

Also, seems like NP moves some of their offensive guys to defense once and a while if/when necessary.

If NP and Plymouth end up playing I hope it’s at Plymouth so our players have somewhere to go at halftime...

We don’t mind playing there.  It’s more fun to boot you guys out at home anyway like we did each year you were in our sectional last go round. 🙂

    Marian will win easily.

I get the feeling that Concord is overrated, but not sure Jimtown can pull off the upset.

Though I wish the Cavemen could pull it out, I don't think their defense will be able to Brownlee so Elkhart will win

New Prairie will win, but am a little worried the game may be closer than people think.

Penn will keep St. Joe winless on the season

Riley will have it's way with Clay

    Washington keeps that momentum going.

I was curious as to what people think - Is this New Prairie team as good or better then the one that made it to Lucas Oil?

I think the offense is better but the defense is not quite as good.  That team still played in the NSC so kind of hard to compare stats.  I guess have a better feel after this week’s game.

Central wins pretty easily.  Brownlee will have a big night. 42-7

Ill take Knox over Glenn 35-14

NIC south title game - Marian over Glenn 21-7

I’m a homer so gotta take NP over Mishawaka.  Tight game for sure.  Coach Kinder will try to chew up the clock and play keep away from the NP offense.  Turnovers decided this game last year. 35-21

Penn ready for NIC schedule and handles Adams 42-14

    Bremen over Clay 32-7

    Riley over Washington 28-13

NP is always weak on passing defense.

I’ll agree with you there.  The secondary is usually the soft spot.  I think Radtke is determined to stop the run and will make adjustments as needed against the pass.  I wouldn’t be surprised if you see a few of the offensive guys slide into the secondary when things get serious.

  11. Just wanted to throw it out there.  I know I was reading comments about St. Joe having issues early in the year with personal foul penalties.  Both NP and St Joe displayed great sportsmanship this week.  I was a little concerned after all the penalties both ways against each other last year that there might be a little carry over into this season.

Understood.  But that program was hummin'   Great momentum.  It seemed like Sharpe had found an identity for that program that fit the personnel perfectly.

Now you have a new scheme, a new culture, a new way of doing everything.  Yes, it will take some time.  But Laporte was right on the cusp.  What a shame

I think 3 games, (of which you have 6 players missing for 2 1/4 of) is just a tad bit quick to judgement.  In addition those three games were against pretty solid competition.

I do think in general Laporte is in a bit of a down cycle and the cupboard is a little bare so Coach Lowrey will have an uphill battle to keep the Slicers competitive for the next few years.

  13. Does Riley have a shot against Marian?  I didn’t think they would beat Adams and they did.  Is this the defacto NIC south title game or does Jimtown have a say?

Awfully quiet from the Mishawaka fans on here this year?  What’s the story with the Cavemen this year.  I know lots of kids back on Defense, but they seem to be givIng up some points.  I heard offense has been turning it over a little on the YouTube Keith Kinder show.

  14. The South Division taking it to the North a little this week.

Riley beating Adams.  I gotta be honest, wasn't thinking they had much of a chance going into that game so congrats to the Cats as well.

Marian vs St. Joe.  I kind of thought Marian might win this one, but definitely didn't see that kind of a score.

Elkhart Central did beat Jimtown so the north didn't get swept.
