  1. I don't have a dog in this FC discussion. Everyone knows there no love lost between NA and FC. However I don't root against FC unless they're playing NA.

I've watched the replay of the last second Seymour TD against FC several times. I can't say if this is a coaching failure or the kids didn't understand what the coaches meant them to do. Both can be true in this case. But when the opposition is 30 yards away and there is time for 1 more play, the deepest DB shouldn't be 10 yards off the ball as in this instance. Seymour had 2 receivers open because they ran past the FC DB's. I don't know if they were in cover 2 or 4, but if FC had 2 DB's standing on the 5-10 yard line to start, this play probably doesn't work. Again, don't know if it's coaching, player, or communication issue, but I feel certain they will address it.

Thanks for sharing....I was wondering how they lost to South the opening game of the season by 30, yet beat them in the Regional by 19.  Still a 49 point turnaround...I assume NA must improved throughout the season......

NA lost the first game by 30 because they were missing 7 starters, including Myles Johnson who ran for 180 yards this game. I feel like they’re fairly even teams. They played last year and NA beat them by 12.
NA has improved during the season. They seem to be loose and having fun. Maybe the “playing with house money” kinda attitude. I’m sure they know how challenging this game is…..but I’d bet they show up and play hard. All you can ask…and being competitive in this game is a big ask.

Not making it up , if I had the time to go back and dig through the yearly newspaper articles talking about injuries I would. . . . I don't have an answer as to why. But I mean you can't lose your upperclassmen skill guys and insert sophs and expect the next man up rule to prevail. As for the last guy above that says Simmons was the best player on the field  uh maybe he hasn't seen the mccoullough  that was committed to osu that flipped to iu to play for his dad that got hired as an assistant at iu . Simmons who? @Fkfootball

I watched McCullough play Friday night. I’m sure he’s a great player and he made a couple of nice plays, but he didn’t have a huge impact on the outcome of the game. Myles Johnson ran for 180 yards and made a pile of tackles playing both ways. Friday night, he was the best player on the field.
I hope McCullough can help IU defensively, because if teams like Rutgers keep taking them to the wood shed, for sale signs are going up in some coaches yards.

    💯

All that being said I'm still slightly disappointed. Really thought our d would cause a turnover and force some more punts . Concerning heading into the off season. We do however have a lot of sophs on d so hopefully they will come back better for it next year. Not slighting new albany but in reality they were throttled by south,  bhsn earlier in the year ... ahh well ...

No slight taken, however there were 7 kids starting for NA last night that didn’t play in the first meeting. Including Myles Johnson (180 yds rushing and 10 tackles last night) and Dejon Winburn ( 5 rec. for 62 yds). The difference is we had our guys when it mattered.

The idea is to make the HHC better, not worse.

    A) I'm not sure the HHC can get "worse" as a football conference. They would certainly be competitive in mens/womens basketball and baseball.

    B) In the final Sagarin ranking for 2020 CE finished 25th, Silver Creek was 67th, ahead of FC(73) and well ahead of NA(121), Jeff(148), Seymour(171), BNL(189) and JC(244).

    C) Silver Creek plays both FC and Jeff next year, so I guess we'll see if they can be competitive in football.

East definitely has done they best they can given their schedule - and is THE premier team in southern Indiana - no question. I think the additions to the non conference schedule East has made is top notch. With that being said - i just think a tougher conference would help East against the big boys.

Maybe a different angle - and probably somewhat taboo - but what about athletes that leave other HHC schools for bigger better programs? I know it's a battle every year keeping what we have in Seymour between middle school and high school years - transferring to Brownstown, Columbus schools etc. I remember when New Albany lost a great player to Saint X and Madison loosing to Columbus schools. I am genuinely curious as to how frequent this happens to other schools.

NA has lost several players to St. X/Trinity in Louisville. It's been a big problem at NA, and Jeffersonville too for many years. Now, I know that some of this is NA's fault. The lack of coaching consistency and staff have certainly contributed to the problem. For many years the NA administration didn't really fight transfers much......there is only so much you can do in any case. NA has a fairly talented group of sophomores playing varsity right now....the question will be can they hold on to all these guys? Part of this is also on the state of kentucky (lower case k is intentional 😉), who turn a blind eye to this stuff. My understanding is Trinity (the worst offender), has players on the varsity from 5 counties in Ky and 2 from IN.

Imagine if NA could have kept these players....all from NA.

Duece Finch- went to ST. X, then played RB for Boston College.

Nate Combs- went to St. X, then played LB and was a Captain for Army.

Jarius Brents- many schools in Louisville area. Was a KY state champion in track. Signed to play DB at Louisville, but was dismissed from team.

Rondale Moore- played 2 years at NA, then transferred to Trinity, now at Purdue and a star.

Stephon Herron- played at NA as a freshman, transferred to Trinity, now is a Freshman OLB at Stanford.

Finch and Combs would have been at NA at the same time. Brents, Moore and Herron would have been teammates as well. It's a sad state of affairs, but there it is.
