Actually in baseball, a sport many in the hispanic community have gravitated toward,  Frankfort has fielded a pretty competitive squad over the last several seasons, even winning a sectional or two.

In football it's a different story, a  too big a portion of the OMG! Athletes are playing soccer, not tackle football.

They should have a very good baseball team this spring.

Right, which is extremely silly and serves no purpose to the discussion.

I don't know the first thing about Frankfort but guessing there isn't a huge disparity in SES factors between them and conference foes. No reason for them to be as bad as they are unless there isn't even attempt by the local community and administration to improve their football program which honestly may be the case.

My guess is the reason Muda says they are 4A in enrollment only is that the community and student body is around 30% Hispanic, and that demographic isn’t traditionally a fertile recruiting ground for them.  So even in a Sagamore Conference with schools ranging from 2A-4A, they have been dismal for some time.  I believe their soccer and baseball teams have been pretty competitive recently.

  3. I know Avon's defense has been God-awful this year, but this performance needs to be recognized.  In Zionsville's 52-49 win last night, Price ran 26 times for 416 yards and 5 TD's.  That is an incredible night, irrespective of opponent.

Also want to recognize from the same game the performance of Chrishon McCray, 4 TD's receiving to go with 230 yards, and a TD pass thrown in for good measure.

Two amazing individual performances from two very good players.

The Montgomery County Schools/Frankfort struggle to get teams on the field in youth and Jr. High.

THIS!  I believe all three MoCo high schools have decent to good coaching staffs, but there are too many athletes in the hallways that do not play football, for whatever reason.  Schlicher in particular needs to build a culture starting in grade school and keep them in the program.

  5. Don’t forget about the 0-6 record so far in 2021.  They are competitive in basketball and baseball (as is Frankfort, at least more so than in football historically).  Can’t really say it’s cyclical when it’s been down for 15 years.

Question would be the destination for the top 4.  Too small for Mid State, too big for Wabash River, Western Indiana possibly, but they already have 12 teams.  Indiana  Crossroads might be a slight improvement, but not enough to move.  Hoosier Athletic could be interesting.

My thought is Crawfordsville (and probably Frankfort) really needs to evaluate where football fits in their landscape, or if those resources are better deployed elsewhere.

I mean, I have no inside info on this, but I don't doubt it.  It's probably true to a certain extent at a lot of mega schools. Whether they are good enough to start at Avon or not, is debatable. But, they certainly would have been a positive on the depth chart. I know there have been Wayne Township students (Ben Davis) that have and do play for Avon. Brownsburg players transferring to Center Grove. All have different reasons, but open enrollment will see these results.

Having watched these kids play (and coaching some of them) since 2nd grade, I have zero doubt they would all start.  And you are correct, it’s everywhere.  Curry at CG started out in Whiteland (before high school), Carroll at CG was at Brownsburg last year, Owen Wood at Cathedral was in the CG system at one point, just a fact that kids can be transient.  We are certainly seeing it more in college with the transfer portal.

serious question, what does cg have that cathedral does not? This was said last year as well and that game should have resulted in a cathedral win, even though it did not. CG is loaded on defense but so is cathedral. Cathedral has a better O-line and better receiving core. Don't get me wrong, CG will be loaded and will be the best team in 6A but to say no one else will be loaded is ignorant.

Tayven Jackson, Daniel Weems, Caden Curry, Mitchell Evans.  That’s four things.

Anyway, the beautiful thing is they play head to head on October 15.  So it will prove itself out.  I stand by my statement, ignorant as you may think it is.

Can you please elaborate on the Avon to Danville migration?

At least 6 seniors that played youth football (and lived) in Avon that will be starters for Danville this fall.  5 of the 6 were enrolled at Avon as freshmen.

They are all good enough to start for Avon, and are probably a pretty big reason Danville is #1 preseason in 3A.  Along with prominent players from Plainfield and Cascade.

Recruiting?  I don’t think so.  Open enrollment and kids seeing an opportunity at an improving program and taking advantage?  That’s how I see it.  Just a better fit for some kids.  Mega schools aren’t for everyone.

Think of it like a Lake Central kid ending up at Griffith or Highland.  About the same distances.

Sounds like CG just destroyed Avon in scrimmage.  13 tds to 1 if I heard correctly.

I doubt WC defense can hold back this CG offense.  48-21 Trojans

Mark Bless should be very concerned

I'm sure he is, I just saw where Avon is #12 in 6A, and I just don't see it.  McCray at RB is good, Norocea at DT is good, sophomore QB Reynolds will be good, Hall is WR is good, but nowhere near the depth needed to compete.  Might regret not working harder to keep all those kids from going to Danville.

How many Admins are left at Griffith who spearheaded the move?  I know the AD is now at Valpo serving same role.  I think Principal Orkis is still there.

Griffith has done a good job of scheduling tough non conference games this past year.

Question is does interim tag come off with Current HC or do they open it up ?   I believe the Panthers were extremely young but had talent, just pups.

Pretty sure Adams was behind the original move, and as you noted, he is now at Valpo (much to the chagrin of the old Valpo soccer coach, from what I read this weekend).  I also believe they have opened up the coaching search.  Griffith never should have left the NCC, I know as an alum I want to see us playing Highland, Munster, Lowell, etc. as conference opponents.  Of course I am just an old fart dating back to the Lake Suburban conference days, so what do I know.
