It's been said that Linton has one of the best coaching staffs in the state and has had for a while now.  I do know they are well respected by other coaches (and fans) that I have spoken with.  It's all about the leadership and the culture.  Not so sure about the Miners chances for a Thanksgiving weekend trip.  The sectional has been a tough one with Southridge (moved up to 3A now) and Mater Dei.  I predicted the South rep would be our sectional winner when Southridge won the title.  Even though the Miners play much tougher competition these days, Mater Dei always plays one of the toughest schedules in 2A.  When tourney times rolls around, they are MORE than ready.  Good luck the rest of the season to the Falcons.

Goodluck to the Miners as well!

    Updated WRC power rankings:

    1. Parke Heritage Wolfs

After Friday night there is no disputing who the best team in the WRC is. Had the Wolfs not played so sloppy, the score would've been much worse. Rest assured though that Brian Moore will get it cleaned up. My neighbor told me that the living legend was fired up with the way the Wolfs ran the ball!

    2. Attica Red Ramblers

Even though they didn't win, the River Ewes were a thorn in the side of the Wolfs all night. They proved all they needed to prove to move to second spot in the power rankings.

    3. North Vermillion Falcons

It was a tough loss for the Falcons but I heard it was actually a pretty good game. It was hard to pick between Attica and North Vermillion, so I gave the Falcons the third spot because Parke Heritage is better than Linton, and Attica played a pretty good game.

    4. South Vermillion Wildcats

Barrett's boys sit at 3-1 for the first time since 2017. Their improvement is undeniable. Thats-u one-u spicy meat-u-ball!!

    5. Seeger Patriots

HERB FREAKIN KING!!!!!!!! If Herb had been on Game of Thrones he would've won the whole dang thing!!!

    6. Covington Trojans

I've been saying all along that the Men of Troy were going to wreck some teams later in their schedule. The reckoning is coming!

    7. Fountain Central Mustangs

Dale Hummer, or Brian Moore or Rick Malone would struggle with this group. It's not the kids fault or the coaches. It just is what it is. Small schools go through cycles. The Mustangs will be back!

    8. Riverton Parke Panthers

I hope the shenanigans are done in Panther land. I would hate to have to keep them at the eighth spot all season long.

PH is second in my rankings.. Don’t see how you’d put them as your #1.. NV has played better competition the first 4 weeks.

    “South V and Linton.”

    Not OV and Covington...

PH would get ran off the field if they played linton lol.

This game hasn't been close since 2015.  I feel that NV had a better shot at beating Linton last year, because Linton was not as good.   Linton's running backs are too salty in this one.  The good news for NV is that no matter who they play from here on out, they will not be as good as Linton.  Linton would probably win the 1A title this year by a few scores.

Please don't anyone out there tell me Lutheran would beat the Miners.

I’m with ya on this one Reb. But man oh man that running-back for the Saints is phenomenal.

Falcons have played Linton 5 times in the last 4 years and the closest game has been 14 points. I think this NV team is very good by WRC standards (although I think they’re 2nd best), but Linton isn’t the WRC and I think a miracle of some sorts would have to happen for the Falcons to pull this one out.  I hope I’m wrong.

I’m assuming you believe the “wolves” are better?

  4. This NV group is the group I believe can and will beat Linton on Friday. NV now has a passing attack which is very good and sets up the run game with Reynolds who is a stud. I am curious to see how many linebackers linton will have in the box when crabtree spreads the field out on Friday, if he does.. Also interested in seeing how NV’s defense aligns with lintons offense. I’m hearing Linton has a passing attack this year?? Who can update me on that?! Anyhow looking forward to a slug fest on Friday in C-Town. Safe Travels to all Linton fans making the trip up on the beautiful and boring Highway 63.

    Prediction: NV 21 Linton 13.

  5. Former “Palucci’sSpecial68” here. Locked out of my account and forgot my password. But I am back folks! Seems like the same bulletin board material as last year... “PH IS THE BEST TEAM IN THE WRC THIS YEAR!!!” Just stop with those comments. When Moore plays a all around disciplined defense, the scores will be lower. Putting 50-60 on Seeger and Covington does not impress me. The scores against NC, SV, and NV will impress me the most. PH is good don’t get me wrong, just tired of folks gassing them up after two weeks of football lol. We saw what happened last year.. 😕
