  1. Wolfs win, and it won’t be that close.  2 like opponents to compare to:  Greencastle and North Vermillion.  Wolfs gave up 47 to Greencastle, but did score 42.  SP only gave up 13 to Greencastle, but only scored 19.  Wolfs gave up 26 to NV, but scored 58. SP gave up 18 to NV, but only scored 24.  This will be a game of offense and the Wolfs will score way more than South Putnam.  Is either team as good as they were last year?

South Newton (-6.5) vs Attica.  — My Montezuma bookie is giving Attica +6.5.  The pride of joy of Riverton Parke, Brad Bevis, gets a W for the Newton’s and evens his record to 4-4.  Here’s to hoping Attica draws Cloverdale in the sectional and gets their first W  In two weeks.  SN 30 Attica 20

NV (-13.5) vs FC  —  This game could be a toss up/pick em, but the Mustangs have trouble scoring points.  Outside of Attica, they are the lowest scoring team in the conference.  Factor in the coaching advantage and NV covers the spread.   Coach Sage - Draft the paperwork for FC be called the Pretenders.
    NV 42 FC 27

RP vs PH (-23.5) —  I won’t deny it , I’m a proud RP grad with a growing allegiance to the Roncalli Rebels   I’d love nothing more than to see Coach Sanders rip off a few winning seasons in the next couple years.   To me, the story of this game is coaches and not for the reasons stated above.   What’s the record for the number of coaches that attended Franklin college on one sideline?  Moore Jr, Batty, Petrillo, and Neely!!   Before you know it, Big Chuck Sorrell and Ryan Good will he added to the staff.  Someone get Coach Sage an honorary Grizzly degree before he’s jettisoned for not having qualified.   RP covers with the points given. PH 50 RP 27

SV (-3.5) vs Seeger —   The tailspin continues for the Patriots   SV climbs to 4-4 with a chance to get the D1’s above .500 next week vs Attica.    SV 42 Seeger 13

Covington (-42.5) vs Tri County —  This one goes to a running clock quickly.   Coach Brown gets to rest his starters early. Unless their are records to break, this one may be closer than it appears, simply due to starters not playing.  Trojans cover      Cov 60 Tri 13

Looking ahead to the sectional, South Putnam will win again this week making them 7-1 and on to a meeting with Linton next week.   I’m personally looking forward to that game as a barometer for how good Chuckie’s team really is.

So KAllen, in what scenario is there not a running clock in this game with the Wolfs and RP?  You’ve only predicted a 23 pt spread.  That is a mighty stretch given who the Panthers and Wolfs  have both played and given the results?

Is the addition of a former WRC Defensive Coordinator to the Wolfs' staff last week enough to propel them to the ever elusive WRC Championship?  Sectional Title?

The Wolfs would have to lose to both RP and FC to not win at least part of the WRC this year.  I don’t see them losing either, no matter who is or isn’t coaching for them.  Weakest season for WRC football in a long time.

The video is from this year.  Brian Lewis is sitting in on it, and he just was hired at the IHSAA.

Also, they are talking about shortening the game.  That is what the rules allow.  Not running the clock.  If both coaches agree to shorten the remaining periods to 5 minutes, THAT is the rule interpretation.  Not a running clock.

It is specifically said in the video that if a game is 63-0 in the 1st quarter then both sides should probably come together and agree to shorten the game or “accelerate” the use of the mercy rule.  Damn you officials are stubborn!

Coaches do not have the ability to override the implementation of the Mercy Rule during a contest. The Referee shall notify the head coach of each school when the Mercy Rule goes into effect. The home team is responsible for notifying timing personnel of the running clock.

I am patiently waiting on your OFFICIAL reference of who(m) told you that the clock could run in the 1st half?

I’m done…you all are obviously way smarter and more in the know than me.

NO you DON'T!!!   And if you do.  Please tell the public WHO the IHSAA individual was?

Pretty sure that exact topic was discussed at state AD’s conference last weekend and it came straight from the horse’s mouth.  I will check with my AD buddies, but I know that’s what they told me.

  7. Rubbers did what they had to do.

Great job Rambler Dan in just playing the game.  We are proud of you.

The D1’s are back!  Fireworks galore in Clinton.

The Ponies will have a really tough finish to the season.

We have 2 “We’re backs” this week!  Welcome back RP Pretenders!  How many will the Wolfs score on them next week?

It appears the Falconmarts learned a valuable lesson:  don’t get into a shootout with the Wolfs.  Someone said the loser of that game would win the sectional…I want some action on that please!

It looks like the Wolfs offense is starting to click.  And with who they play the last 2 weeks they may work their way back to juggernaut status going into the sectional.

The Bob Seeger’s (I can’t call them Herbie and the Pats no more) appear to be in a tailspin.  I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel for them.

  8. I think Woody is doing a great disservice to a lot of other great pizza joints in the WRC.  To name a few:  Palucci’s in Cayuga, Overpass in Covington, Up the Creek across from TR state park, Paradise Pizza/Bowling in Clinton, Arnis in Pine Village, Blue and Gold Pizza in Veederburg.  The WRC may be the SEC of Indiana High School football, but it’s the ACC of pizza places.

  9. Recap of Friday night:

I want a redo!  Nobody told me the Wolfs wouldn’t be playing their normal QB and that they spent all week mastering their defense and offensive run game?  What a grand concept, defend and run the football.  Who would’ve thunk it?

I will give Mr. Allen his due.  If the D1’s cannot beat the Wolfs without the Wolfs best athlete/player even playing in the game then yes, they have to become the D1 pretenders.

Seeger-FC much closer than I thought it would be.  Not sure what that really says about either team.

I’ll take the pretender off the RP name for now.  How about the RP bullies?  Looked like they had some late scores with starters still in against the lowly Clovers!

Who said the Rubbers’ game would be close?  South Newton may have won some games this year, but it is different when you play a team from the SEC of Indiana HS football.

Falconmarts did what we expected them to do.  I’m sure that will spur on some interesting conversations this week about their upcoming matchup with the Wolfs.  I’m still saying it will be a no contest, especially now that the Wolfs have started focusing on defense and running the football.

Let’s just be proud of Rambler Dan for continuing to play the games.
