Class 1A South Semi State Preview
Tri (11-2) at Indianapolis Lutheran (13-0)
Q&A with Tri Head Coach Andrew Totheroh
Question 1
Congratulations on reaching the final four Coach to you, staff and team. Coming off your regional win last week, how is your team handling its success at this late point in the season and what is their collective mindset as you begin game prep for Friday's semistate contest?
Question 2
Looking at game film of your opponent this week, what are their primary areas of strength and who are some of the playmakers that your defense will need to neutralize in order stay in the game and put your team in position to win?
Question 3
How does your base offensive package match up with the personnel they will be countering with on the defensive side of the football?
Question 4
At this point in the season, teams are generally very evenly matched relative to speed, size and skill level. What are some of the intangible elements that need to break your way in order to pave the path for a trip to Lucas Oil Stadium on Thanksgiving weekend?

Coach Totheroh responses :
1. We’re excited for the opportunity to play Lutheran at their place Friday night. I think the environment will be electric, it’s a semi-state football game and an opportunity our kids have earned the right to play in. We’ve told the kids to keep in perspective there’s only 4 teams still practicing in 1A football right now and we’re one of them. It’s been a very humbling experience and an opportunity our kids are looking forward to Friday night.
2. They’ve got athletes across the board. Their QB is a dude, he’s a very good athlete and can make people miss. They’ve got very good receivers, an athletic offensive line, and a lot of times out their athletes in space in one on one situations and let them make plays. We’ve got to keep our feet alive, and tackle well in the open field, remember our techniques and apply them Friday night. Trust our keys and what we’re seeing, then get there with a purpose and aggression.
3. We are who we are at this point. We believe in running the football and that has what’s gotten us to this stage. We’ve got to be fundamentally sound up front and get movement on their D-line. See what they’re giving us Friday night and adjust from there like we’ve done each week.
4. We’ve talked about there’s a lot of power in believing in something. All season long we talked about a sectional championship and accomplishing that goal when the tournament began. When we got to that stage of the tournament we executed and that dream became reality. I think our team plays the game the right way, with a lot of passion and heart, we play hard and play for one another. That goes a long way in this game, mix in execution and playing a clean game and that’s a solid recipe for success on the football field.
