Is Walton the DE? Did you happen to see them play at all this year? Curious as to what type of offense they run and who (other than Walton) are the players to keep an eye on.

I spent time coaching at Hobart and live there so I'm a huge supporter of the Brickies. At playoff time I support all the region teams I would suggest that you watch some film on them Region Sports Network has several games you could watch. They are packed full of Athletes all over the field and base concept is a spread but I would rather not give you a full breakdown or my opinions on the players.

  2. Responding to both comments both valid points travel time and Memorial having legit experience at LOS both great points. My response would be #1 from my coaching exp defenses travel better than offenses. As far as Memorials experience super valuable, I would suggest that the only thing better is being from a town like Hobart with a rich football history like ours, a coaching staff that lived the glory years of the past. Serveral of the parents involved with this team were the players winning state titles. Most important a group of kids and have dreamed of being the ones who bring Hobart to the forefront once again. I would take that over LOS playing exp. But with respect to East Noble you definitely have to devote 100% focus on them and I have never met or worked with a group of kids and coaches that show as much respect to each opponent as Hobart. Maybe it's just past experience of this coaching staff but Hobart does the best job i have ever seen at the 1 game at time concept.

  3. Just looking for some insight here from the Lawrenceburg side a couple years ago I really studied the Mason Paris lead 2016 team partly due to my love of HS wrestling. Since I haven't really watched a ton of film on either of these teams this I wanted to ask how does this years Tigers matchup to that team. I was really surprised that team didn't win state, I remember the State championship game well and I guess I just didn't give that Concordia team enough credit. So 2016 vs 2019 Tigers give me some insight. I'll be watching my first game of either team tonight goodluck to both.

In my opinion, Dwenger might have the best defense in the state. I just don't see anyone "rolling" them.

I agree with Carmel winning big. I'm rooting for Merrillville, but Carmel is Carmel. I see them handling Merrillville in the same fashion they handled Homestead.

I really don't know anything about Hobart and East Noble other than Sagarin having EN as a 1 pt favorite.

You realize the Sagarin ratings had Morton and Np over Hobart too. Fun info to look at but they are not a very good thing to look at for game predictions

The Hobart Defense is really, really good. Statistically there has probably been better defenses at Hobart, but on the field flying to the football. They are unreal. After the first drive they completely shut it all down save for a long 50yd run in the 4th by the NP qb.

The Region as a whole is a little surprising.  I think everyone knew Valpo would be good, MC was supposed to be but they fell on hard times.
Merrillville I think was a wait and see.
Andrean dropping to 2A gave people some hope they could make a run but nothing was for sure.
Morton had the hype train with all the D1 (potentially) kids. And Hobart was a team building momentum but maybe not ready for prime time.

I don’t know if I ever remember more than maybe 2 Region teams in a semi state, and I think all of them have a decent chance with Merrillville having the most daunting of the bunch....but certainly not a gimme for Carmel. Still think Valpo is the most likely to get through and that says a lot seeing how good Dwenger is.
On top of that Hobart is very young, Andrean is young, so that bodes well for them sticking around next year for a good run. I don’t know if there is a golden age coming but certainly it’s been a renaissance year for the Region.

I can’t imagine the 219 party that could be coming to Naptown.

Well said and your correct there has never been 4 region teams to make it to semi state all in the same year. Someone on here will know for sure but i think 1981 is the first time there actually was the semi state round. Hobart went to state in 79, and 80 and just played a regional, the semi state must have came with the expansion of classes. As far as the rest of your break down here. I think the coaching change at Valpo was the difference here don't know all the details but at some point the Valpo players need a fresh start cause they always have the talent in the school but getting the best kids in your school on the field playing as a unit with a staff and system they trust was key for them. Merrillville is a similar story in my opinion but for them they really need to get back to the discipline level they played with earlier in the season, I watched this team completely shut down my Brickies then absolutely take it to Valpo and they really should have won that game. If the real Merrillville shows up they can and will beat Carmel and any other big Indy school they will win state if they play like did against Hobart and Valpo. With Andrean playing 2a ball is kinda silly I felt bad for Lewis Cass what a great season for them, but lets not spoil this conversation with my dislike for the private school situation in Indiana sports. Andrean has progressed so much over the course of the season and have played one of the most difficult schedules possible for any 2a school which is really showing now. They are all tough hard nose kids that want to be good, I think they have a great shot at playing another private school in the state finals lol. Your right on point again Hobart and Andrean are younger. Hobart for example is mostly juniors. Hobart had 9 seniors start the season week 4 nothing crazy they all decided late that they wanted to come out for the team for their senior years all of which had played football prior seasons, in a true act of class and respect from both sides Coach Osika left it up to the team to let these kids on the team and the kids chose to let them come back in a very selfless way. This situation helped build the family first attitude of this team. Pretty smart move by both parties,  I believe that also helped push them forward in this incredible season.

      I'll say it here first

Valpo Beats Dwenger by at least 21

    Merrilliville beats Carmel by 7

Hobart beats East Noble by 17

    Andrean beats Eastbrook by 14

Regardless of class, there were two games on everyone's radar at the beginning of the year. New Pal vs Cathedral and Valpo vs Dwenger. This is a no-brainer s far as I'm concerned. Should be a great game.

The man said he is going to be in Bloomington Indiana returning to the Region area so how is Valpo vs Dwenger a possible option? ppl need to read. I picked Merrilliville at Carmel as the best pick cause its the most inline with his route home.

I think this says more about the conference than Hobart’s defense.  Again I haven’t seen them play and maybe they are that solid.   Not to be disrespectful, but shutting out Highland twice, Munster, Griffith, and a down Lowell team just not really that impressive.  As they say though you play who is on the schedule and the Brickies did the job against those schools.  Only time will tell.

That is a pretty interesting bit of info.  Getting almost a quarter of their starters back gave a boost to second half of the season I’m sure.

Hate to say i told ya so but I TOLD YA SO On to semistate go Brickies

Can these Hobart fans please answer a few questions for me then? Which team played a tougher schedule? Which team has a better record? Which team has the best player on field? Which team is ranked higher in EVERY poll and computer ranking?

I’m sure Hobart is good and could win this game. But holy crap, you guys are making it seem like NP doesn’t know what a football is. Looking forward to what should be a good game tomorrow

Np and Coach Radtke know football I'm suggesting your fan base isnt acting very educated on football. So to answer your questions, schedule Np played and beat the worst Penn team I have seen, mishawaka is clearly rebuilding, and you lost to Elkhart central. Then you smoke a bunch of south bend schools with little to no talent. This tougher schedule you played was a combined 63-68. Out of both teams Hobart actually played the best team in a losing effort against Merrillville who is better than any team NP played also combined Hobarts opponents were 68-62 on the season so to me its arguable. Better record is a wash since only this game really matters. Its impossible to know of the teams switched schedules who would have a better record. But I bet both teams lose to Merrillville. Best player most likely Ketterer but last time I checked it takes 11 on O and 11 on D to win. And overall I think hobart has more players. I hope and pray that the actual team has your mindset in regards to what it takes to win these games. 1 player has never won a football game. As far as the polls go, I invite you to look at the final media and coaches polls,  take a hard look at the top teams in each class before sectionals started most of them didnt even win sectionals. Now a quick question for you how many Hobart games have you actually watched. I have seen all of NPs and all of Hobarts.

  10. You clearly need to watch more film Bobby Babcock is faster than any player on Np, and he plays Linebacker. All these Np fans say "from what I've seen" or "from the games I've watched" then they talk about the CMA game it's crazy. If you havent watched more than 1 game why comment. This guy saying Hobarts D isnt fast is silly ask Merrillville and Morton if they are fast. News flash both those teams are full of kids faster than anyone on Np including ketterer. At least Hobart fans know what they are talking about.

From the games I have seen, Hobart's defense isn't anything special. They could barley handle CMA's lackluster offense, what makes you think their defense will now be able to stop one of the best offenses in the state. I have New Prairie by 2 scores at least.

The CMA game was a turning point for this team I suggest you watch every game after CMA then decide what u think of Hobarts Defense. I have watched every New Prairie and Hobart game, like I said before not sure New Prairie can stop Hobarts offense. Size wise hobart matches up well and there isnt a team in the state with 4 better LBs than hobart. I have alot of respect for NP and honestly think the state champion comes from this game. In regards to the latest response from Npfan, NP beating Penn and Mishawaka is great very impressive, and no doubt ketterer is incredible. As far as quality wins for Hobart, I would say they both have them Andrean, Lowell x2 and Morton are all good wins. I never suggested hobart has this unstoppable offense but NP hasnt stopped many teams from scoring. Elkhart Central made NPs d look bad several times. The only team that stopped hobart is merrillville let me tell ya NP D is not Merrillvilles D. But let's save the post and see Friday night.

  12. Respectfully disagree with boom, this hobart team can really do it all. Dynamic offense and truly one of the best defenses in the state. Np and Ketterer are awesome but running QB power 30 times wont do it vs this defense. This will be a tough game for both teams after watching nearly every game from both teams my biggest question is how will NP stop Hobarts offense.
