  1. With Week 1 of 2020 season set for August 21, what is the date when the season will be impacted?  By impacted, I mean delay to season, modified schedule (conference games only), cancellation, etc?

I'm not a coach and don't know all of the mandatory practice requirements, etc to begin a season but I would believe that the date would be tied to this requirement i.e. 21 days of practices required. 8/21 start of season therefore, 7/31-8/1 would be the key date.

  2. Two excellent football teams. I was very impressed with Valpo defense and surprised by their offense. Living in the Region, Ive heard about their D and the size and physicality but I had never had the chance to see them. Once agin, very impressed. For New Pal, Spegal is a load but didn't wow me, probably because of the defense he was facing. Great career. I actually was more impressed with #54.  He's a an outstanding football player.  He matched Vapo's physicality every play and went both ways. He is definitely a D1 player.

Agree with earlier poster, I think Valpo panicked after pick 6 on their next two possessions. TV announcers kept talking up NP secondary not sure why. They kept getting beat by and average Valpo passing attack.

Congrats to NP and Valpo.  Great teams and great seasons!

  3. According to all of these posts (not sure of the facts), it sure sounds like EN administration and possibly the IHSAA needs to investigate the whole situation not just the punch part.  Cars keyed, EN fans coming to Hobart sideline and antagonizing, cars behind bleachers turning lights on and honking horns during play and the punch. Reads very much like extreme poor sportsmanship with no one from EN in position of authority dealing with it.  Very sad if all of this indeed is true and it must be dealt with by administration.

  4. WJOB camera was not on the 50, the film I watched was right down the 50 yard line. Ball touched at 50. Agree to's cost any team especially in big games, but the game I watched had Andrean with 3 to's (2 fumbles and 1 int) and EB had 2 (1 fun and 1 int) plus a blocked punt.

In terms of momentum, after cutting it to 20-14 at 315 with 3 to's and ball at midfield.  I'd take those chances every time. EB defense was stellar and I was impressed, but Andrean started getting their running game going in the latter part of the 3rd quarter and into the 4th. As I stated, not sure what would have happened bit I sure would have liked to have the chance to see it.

The point of my earlier text was the irony of EB complaining about video replay on a call from last year when not having it helped them this year.

    Good luck tomorrow night.

  5. I've watched the game film numerous times not the WJOB replay and the ball traveled 10 yards.  Disagree with Bobref. Also on the onside kick,  the official did not throw flag immediately, but appears to be heavily influenced by EB coaching staff.  Agree with Bobref, there was a lot of confusion o that play.

Coach Nowlin makes a good point of pass rush had Andrean had ball, but EB did not stop Flesher all night.  I'd take those odds with Flesher vs their secondary with 3 timeouts.

On the fumble returned for TD,  I was standing right there, literally 3 feet from official. He called a forward pass, catch and fumble. From his angle (same as mine), it looked like the correct call.  We couldn't see the front side on the initial catch. Couldn't tell whether he bobbled it.  This is what the Andrean coaches were claiming.

  6. I find it ironic that an EB fan complaining about a call and the use of video replay.

I just watched film of the game Friday between Andrean vs EB. It would have been great to have replay for EB vs Andrean onside kick with 3:15 to go. Film from 50 yard line on the side of the kick clearly shows ball traveled 10 yards and recovered by Andrean. No guarantee they score but you never know......but down 20-14 with ball at midfield with the momentum.

Also, very late flag by sideline official, clearly influenced by EB coaches.
