Doesn't Mishawka loose pretty much all of their Offense and Defense lines....their quarterback...and most of their linebackers?  Not trying to ruffle feathers....but I fear they will not fair well next year.  NorthWood is in the same boat.  Their entire offense minus their running back is gone. I am really curious as to how NW and Mishawaka's younger fellas play...and I hope they do well...I just don't see it happening.  Warsaw has just about everyone coming back...as does Concord.

Mishawaka loses a lot on the o-line but defensive line and linebacker they should have 2-3 starters back that includes one all state player at each position.

Nope, no update.   Still basically the "mistake by the Late" ala Cleveland Brown's Municipal Stadium.

    Scoreboard is great though!!

Mishawaka's stadium is one of the few local stadiums that provides enough seating for very large crowds on the visitors side.

I agree, Warsaw will try and chew the clock, but once they fall behind, all bets are off. Warsaw has played nobody all year and Carroll is the real deal, look what they did to Penn at Penn. Penn wants to run, run, and run some more yet that game was over early. Maybe it will be a closer game, we shall see.

    I didn't realize Mishawaka is a nobody...

Sorry for being MIA for over a week! Travelled for work last week and was busy on the days I was home and just could not dedicate myself here like I want to.

Very excited for the NorthWood vs Mishawaka game this week! Both teams made my Tigers look like kitties each of the last two Friday nights. Both teams simply have more athletes than Warsaw this year. Super impressed with both squads and will be cheering for them in their respective class tournaments.

Sad to hear about Goshen's QB injury. He's a great kid and one of the main reasons I had decently high hopes for them this year. Looks like I'll miss out on that preseason prediction.

All in all, I would say this week will likely be the "best" week of NLC play. The two at the top will battle, while the Concord/Northridge and Plymouth/Goshen games could be good games competition wise. I have a strong feeling the Tigers will take out their frustrations on Wawasee in Syracuse for the "W" trophy.

    Thoughts on NW vs Mishawaka...

Another week in the books!  Other that the NorthWood / Warsaw game, I dont think there were many suprises with the outcomes of last weeks games.  I had Goshen beating Northridge...alas...Goshen failed me.  The program is still on the upswing and making progress and I am still on team Goshen.  Also, I was suprised that Wawasee (while being shut out) that kept it that close to Concord...its the small things in life.  Poor Plymouth...thats all i have to say about that game.  Now in regard to the NorthWood / Warsaw game.  I truly thought it was going to be a last person scores..wins...kind of game, and that is how it started.  I was shocked at how well NorthWood's defense held up against Warsaw's running game.  When they walked out to the field, I thought there would be problems judging by the size of their big boys compaired to the size of NorthWood's big boys (looking up at Warsaw's).  NorthWoods' O and D lines actually won in the trenches...again...did not see that coming.  With that said...and as a NorthWood follower...if this game is a preview of Mishawaka...I like NorthWoods' chances at winning the NLC outright.  Anyway...on to Friday:

Goshen V. Concord:  I think Goshen will make this game competitive; however, Concord will grind out the win late in the game.  I think it will be close.  Concord by 10

NorthWood V. Plymouth: Not much to say here.  I think NorthWood will get alot of their younger guys some playing time and rest some of their starters that got banged up in the Warsaw game.  NorthWood by 42

Wawasee V. Northridge:  Another game that there is not much to say.  Northridge should win with no problems.  Northridge by 17

And the game of the week

Mishawaka V. Warsaw:  This game will be a slugfest.  If you like low scoring affairs, this will be the game to watch.  Which team will run "Bart Ball" the best.  Ive looked at both teams common foes and it appears the Warasaw has had more offensive sucess againt them; however, i dont know either teams situation in those games.  Seeing Warsaw play NorthWood, I was not to impressed with their (Warsaw) run defense.  NorthWood is not a great running team; however, they had the most rushing yards of the season against them.  Mishawaka has appeared to be flawless in their offense operation however...the Northridge game sticks out to me.  I was not there, nor do I have any incite into how the game played out...but Northridge does not impress me this year.  I am going to be a homer on this game, and take Warsaw over Mishawaka.  I say this selfishly as if Warsaw wins, it pretty much guarantees NorthWood a share of the NLC title.  With my homer ways known, I think it will be close.  Warsaw by a field goal?

I have no idea how the last Warsaw got that last touchdown..🙄🤔🙄 Cavemen vs Northwood should be a good one.

I get that a bad call is gonna happen, just a tough time in the game for it to be called.

Also the official pictured wasn't the one that called it, that was from the guy 25+ yes behind the play.

I also misspoke, white was called for dpi not opi.

Either way, on to next week against Northwood, which will be a whole different challenge.

Great game, both teams had several chances. 2 very impressive coaching staff's. I hope the young man from Northridge is okay.

We start conference match ups this week!   Here are my week 3 predictions:

Concord V. NorthWood:  Through two games, NorthWood doesnt seem to come out of the gates strong.  They havent shown themselves until toward half time.  East Noble showed what I thought would be their biggest weakness this year...run defense.  Northwood seemed to struggle with defending the good ol counter plays.  With that said, I dont think Concord will match up too well with NorthWood this year.  This is not the typical Concord team.  I feel that NorthWood may have its way with them this week.  Northwood by 28.

Goshen V. Wawasee:  Come on Goshen...your killing me.  They have shown that they can play football...just not 4 quarters.  I still have hope that they are turning that program around.  Wawasee on the other hand...its a struggle bus down in Syracuse.    I see Goshen winning this game with little to no trouble. Goshen by 21.

Northridge V. Mishawaka:  Probably going to be the best NLC game this week.  Northridge is my biggest suprise thus far into the season.  I really assumed they would be way down this year.  It always hard to win in Mishawaka and i think Northrdige will come up short on Friday.  I think it will be close...until the 2nd hafl.  Mishawaka will grind out a win and keep Northridge's offense of the field.  On a side note...Mishawaka has an awsome atmoshere and a beatiful surrounding (tucked into a neighborhood...beautiful school back drop...consession stands / restrooms on the visitors side...awsome scoreboard)  but why is the actual football field in such bad shape.  The school spent the money on the scoarboard, the entrance and the track...but spent 0 on the field.  Why is that?  Anyway...I will take Mishawaka by 14.

Plymouth V. Warsaw:  Warsaw's hasnt missed a beat with having QB2 at the helm.  Plymouth...Plymouth...i dont know what to say about them.  I feel for those kids that stick with it...and hopfully things will change for them.  I dont think Warsaw will be playing startes beyond the 3rd quarter.  Warsaw by 35.

I have heard from several people that Mishawaka's field is their best in a few years.

This isn’t the Marian of years past so that proves nothing.  My opinion was formed, To reference a Nick Sagan quote, in the scrimmage vs Elkhart where the Lions 1s ran through Mishawaka defense like “S*%t through a tin horn” so that’s a better reference IMO.  We’ll see, but before you go attacking me further I’ve also called The cavemen the best team in the area at the moment.

I did not attack I simply pointed out your words and it was a scrimmage...

Concord at Jimtown- Concord ran into a buzzsaw with Elkhart last week, but has a really good defense.  They get just enough offense to take this one 17-14

Fairfield at Adams- Adams gets a win that will be hard to come by this year 27-20.

Glenn at Riley -Not sure why.

Marian at Culver Academy- Marian is in for a long regular season.

New Prairie at Goshen- NP 35-7.  New Prairie wont be challenged until October.

Northridge at Elkhart,- Elkhart was the only thing that stopped Elkhart last week and they kept themselves from putting up 50.  I expect a big improvement in eliminating mental mistakes on offense from week 1 to week 2.  40-10 Lions

Penn at Portage- I think Penn is wildly overrated at #9 in 6a, but they roll against one of 6a's perennial worst teams 27-7.  Next 3 weeks get real tough for the Kingsmen.

Clay at Twin Lakes- Twin Lakes?  Wasn't aware that is a high school.

St. Joseph at Mishawaka- Cavemen are elite on offense and not great on defense.  While I think St Joe is much improved that wont help them this week.  35-7 Cavemen.

Washington at Bremen- Guess is Bremen 14-0

Mishawaka throttled Marian's offense and this guy is dogging Mishawaka's defense...🤔

    North

Valpo @ Penn I’ve seen Valpo in a scrimmage and while that must be taken with a grain of salt, Penn still has some mystique at home and a front 7 on defense that rivals anyone in the North.  Offense is tough to come by 13-10 Kingsmen in OT.

Elkhart @ Concord The Lions bring back a ton and Concord doesn’t.  First game under the lights caused the Lions issue last year and that and too many weapons gets Concord as it breaks open in the 2nd half.  34-7 Lions

St Joe @ Lakeland: Indians much improved 24-7

Adams @ Northridge: Not big on the Raiders this year but Adams has had very little time with a new coach in a rebuild. Adams makes too many mistakes… Raiders 27-19

Laporte @ New Prairie: NP s scary good at home.  QB runs wild.  35-14 Cougs

Mishawaka @ Marian (Mish): Mishawaka is my call in the NLC.  Another Fischer at QB and Marion is in for a rough regular season (for their standards) albeit they’ll be a different team come playoff time.  Mish 33-14

    South

Northwood @ Jimtown: Ethan Evers is best player on the field.  24-21 NW

    Bremen @ Laville guess

    Glenn @ Boone Grove guess

Hammond Central @ Washington: as others have said, has to be better than Washington

    Osceola Grace @ Clay ?

Mishawaka scrimmages Elkhart Friday that should be a battle.

Anyone with actual insights into their NLC programs? No offense to the self-appointed head honcho above (driving views, creating content, promoting Indiana high school football blah blah blah I know, I get it), but was looking for legitimate updates as opposed to opinion based commentsI

I think Mishawaka scrimmages Elkhart this year that should be very interesting.

The Channel 46 WHME football schedule has come out for this upcoming season. Weeks 6-9 are TBD. NLC teams being featured are bolded below

Aug. 19 - Mishawaka at Marian
Aug. 25 - Watervliet at Brandywine (MI)
Aug. 26 - Northridge at Elkhart
Sept. 1 - Buchanan at Niles (MI)
Sept. 2 - Concord at NorthWood
Sept. 9 - Jimtown at John Glenn
Sept. 16 - Penn at Elkhart

Some possible NLC matchups in weeks 6-9 that could be featured in my opinion:

Sept. 23 - Mishawaka at Warsaw / Goshen at Concord

Sept. 30 - NorthWood at Mishawaka / Concord at Northridge

Oct. 7 - Mishawaka at Concord / Goshen at Warsaw

Oct. 14 - Warsaw at Northridge

Mishawaka has 3 tough weeks at the end of the season.

NP had a scrimmage with Michigan City yesterday and here my way to early thoughts. I thought the skill players looked very good, it looked as if they’ve picked up some speed from last year. QB appears to have gained some accuracy and was throwing a really nice deep ball. Both running backs look to have gained more muscle and seemed primed to duke it out for game carries. The OL seems to be a work in progress but thought they passed block really well. The defense was fast and swarming to the ball. I think if they get the OL figured out they could duplicate last years success. Again this is a way to early assessment but was surprised with how they looked. Anyone else catch any of your teams scrimmages and have any early thoughts?

How was MC ? They were darn good last year and young at key positions.

St Joe is playing Mishawaka week 2 this year replacing Northridge.  I believe next year the Caveman play Penn week 2 so this could be a one year game.

Culver Academy has Hammond Morton in place of SJ in week 8.  SJ picked up Benet Academy from the Easy Suburban Catholic League outside Chicago

    Cavemen should be pretty good.
