  1. Bremen- bounce back with this confidence booster after getting pounced on by the Wildcats. Bremen +48 Elkhart- Lions take this one +14. Nothing last week indicated NP could move the ball consistently on Penn. They will struggle again with Elkhart. Penn- Adams hangs on for the first 30 seconds of this game. Penn's JV takes the field in the second half. Penn Boots Adams 40-0 Riley- Cats were without their signal caller last week. The ground game pounded Bremen on their senior night. Riley is looking to take home a share of a conference title. Cats trap the Jimmies in the box. Riley 30 Jimtown 14. Holy War- neither team has seen any grace this season. Marian 10 St. Joe 7 Glenn- Falcons make a switch at QB late in the season. Can they reduce the turnovers and keep the ball out of Docker's hands. Glenn 17 Wash 7
  2. Riley has a new staff...starters who've never played football...kids who were lifting cinder blocks for weights the season prior. -Have scored on their first play or drive in each game including New Prairie -Have held a lead in all 8 games -Have scored 236 points (St. Joe/Adams/Marian total combined 256) -Lets not make excuses. Riley players had to adapt to a new culture as well.
  3. There isn't pop warner in South Bend? Could of fooled me I just watched a 8U game go into double OT yesterday and a 9U team beat Hanover Central yesterday. It needs better organization but they do have several teams.
  4. Don't forget Riley was up on Glenn this year and lead into the 4th quarter. So, I'm not sure what your point is? Riley shot themselves in the foot and should be 5-0.
  5. I believe Osceola Grace could beat Twin Lakes seeing they beat clay 56-6. But, that's nothing to brag about seeing Clay spots you 30 points on their mistakes alone. Can't throw a backwards pass and have the receiver walk towards the sidelines after dropping it. Then throw in the 15-20 penalty average per game with the refs turning a blind eye to 15 more because they want to go home. Most of it falls back to the bottom. South Bend lacks a quality youth league for fundamental and football IQ development. Then you throw in some schools lack consistent quality coaches. South Bend Riley has been down, but Coach Lee brought in a whole knew staff with experience. Their summer numbers were averaging 50 players up 35 plus from the year before and they are hovering around 65 on the roster. If you haven't noticed the Wildcats have been winning at halftime in all 5 of their games and have scored on the first play or drive in 4 of 5 games. In the two games they lost they were winning going into the 4th quarter and one game going into double overtime. A big turnaround from their 40 point average per game allowed to opponents last year. The defense has given up 72 points in 5 games. Say what you want about South Bend Schools, but Riley is competing with starters who have not played football or haven't played since 8th/9th grade. Which goes back to the quality of staff Coach Lee has brought in and the players hard work in the off-season.
  6. New Prairie senior throwing a fit on the sideline after being pulled out friday night. Then missing Saturday practice? Not much of a development.
  7. Well, Clay unfortunately will continue to struggle. 37 or 38 straight conference losses? Washington has scored 12 points and allowed 154 points (38.5 ppg) in their first 4 games. Riley- Looks like they are putting something together. All 5 games they have led at half. All 5 games they have led going into the 4th quarter. They have scored on their 1st possession in their first 4 games. Will see how they progress with their last 4 regular season game. But they look promising moving forward with such a young team. Marian- not only lost players but a few quality coaches as well. They will struggle for awhile St. Joe- I think we all had some high hopes for St. Joe to turn around quickly. But, it seems they are struggling.
  8. Wash/Clay- Does Clay break their 37 game conference losing streak this Friday? Both teams put of 6 points on Hammond Central. Clay has 20 PF this season and Washington has 12. Could Clay pull it off? St Joseph/New Prairie- Whether or not New Prairie plays 4 quarters or not. The cougars take this one. St. Joe's on limp mode this week. Hearing rumors a few players are banged up including 4 star. Penn/Elkhart- I think this game is decided by 6 points. I'll take Penn's D on this one. Marian/Adams- Marian had problems containing Bremen's #9 on their deep passes. Adam's has a few more weapons and a mobile QB. Can Marian contain the speed this week. Adam's by 7 Knox/Glenn- Glenn knocked off Knox with a couple of long QB runs. Can the Glenn Offense control the game and field position? Defense will play solid but can Radke find the kink on the line and expose it with his linemen trades? Glenn's Defense 17-14 JImtown/Bremen- Bremen looked lost guarding grass defensively against Triton when they overloaded. Can they tighten up to stop the ground and pound game of Jimtown? Jimtown's aggressive defense over Bremen's I formation twins and Wild cat offense. Jimtown 28-7 Riley/IndyWash- The wild cats need to play 4 quarters of polished football to give them some momentum moving into the last half of the season. A major turn around year for the Wildcats and their new staff, as they have scored on the first possession of each game and have lead at halftime in all 4 games. Both losses the wildcats gave up the lead in the 4th quarter. Can they put it all together this week? Riley 48 Indy Wash 6 ****This forum is too quiet****
  9. I wouldn't say Knox was down. Glenn just took advantage of Knox's mistakes.
  10. North Division Penn- I can't see Penn doing well in their non-conference schedule. Penn's defense has to step up and save them against New Prairie and Elkhart this season. I still have them at #1 New Prairie- I see Penn/NP within one score. They'll be solid Elkhart- this is a question mark. Last year it was 20? kids out. Can they keep kids healthy enough to compete. St. Joe- I think St. Joe surprises a few teams. Defensively they'll keep themselves in a few games. I don't think their offense is there yet. They'll have to play mistake free football. They'll win the ones they should with ease. Marian- Can they recover from losing Atkinson on both sides of the ball and special teams? Their RB was solid and MLB will be hard to replace. This year I don't see them competing in their conference. Adams- not even Redman could save them at this point South Division Jimtown- Jimmie's lose their QB and Johntu. Two solid players but I believe 24 was the better back. He looked better in the sectional game against Marian. Johntu struggled and I believe he was their lone TD against Marians JV during garbage time. Jimtown should be top dawgs of the conference. Glenn - I'll slide Glenn to #2. Defense will still be solid. loosing Creed will hurt the Falcons a bit. Falloween is always a big hit. Riley - I'll slide Riley to #3. Talks on the SE side is Riley's numbers are sound with the excitement the new staff has generated. Quite possibly the only SB school with a true JV team. Bremen- Nothing special offensively. They'll find it hard to score this season. Washington- Pushing Coach Johnson out who's now coaching at the college level has proven to be costly. Kids within the program don't seem too excited. Could benefit Washington to consolidate Clay. Clay - seems like Clay lacks solid assistant coaches who stick around long enough to develop relationships with kids. Clay will continue to struggle.
  11. That would be correct OC John Jolley and Secondary/WR Coach Jose Capeles are now at Riley. Jolley in the same roll and Jose Capeles as Defensive Coordinator.
  12. I don't know about that. Glenn's defense still have a few pieces and should be solid. Their offense needs to find its identity. It lost 90 percent of it's offense last year. There's 2 kids left that had a TD a piece. QB hasn't played a snap under center since 2020 and their FB/MLB spent 7 weeks on the sideline. Might be ugly but Glenn should have the advantage with the 2-3 skill kids they have left.
