Really some intriguing matchups this week for the sectional championships.

My head thinks Penn wins this matchup to keep the Yeoman haters at bay for at least 1 more week. The teams seem to be trending in opposite directions; outside of the NP game, Penn has pretty much rolled the last 6 weeks. While Chesterton is 3-3 and hasn't really done anything impressive against good/average competition (Merrillville has a pretty darn good team this year though).

NP should win comfortably against the Indians. Not only did the Cougs score a 35-0 win earlier in the year over St. Joe but NP is obviously better in any metric you look at. With that being said, funny things happen in championship games and St. Joe has pulled off some post season runs after a subpar regular season before so you can't over look them. I said it after week 1 - if NP doesn't win a championship this year it will be a disappointment - well they haven't got a trophy yet so hopefully the Cougars take care of business come out with a W.

This Marian Jimtown showdown is going to be a good one. I go back and forth who I think will pull out a win. I know Marian has speed and athletes around the field but Jimtown (I don't know as much about them) seems to also have some studs for themselves and are currently on a 9 game win streak. Should be the game of the week and a real fun atmosphere in elkhart county.

    * Game is at Marian.  Go Knights!

Danville (Along with GS, LB, etc) could return their entire team and not challenge Marian.  Will have to see how sectional 28 shakes out next year but top 5 teams in 3A were from the north in 3a this year.  South was a joke.

Although this senior class was small, Marian will be losing most of their skill position talent, as well as a couple of their defensive playmakers.  I wouldn't use pen in putting Marian as the North representative next year.

  3. What a great game.  Looked like Marian took a few series to understand the speed of Chatard, as the Knights have not played anyone of the caliber of Chatard this season.  But Marian certainly made it a fantastic finish.  The second half was just battling back and forth, but the Knights just couldn't get ahead.  Proud of the effort our boys gave - heartbreaking finish for the Knights.

Coach Barron was released from the hospital yesterday!

Sorry about the injuries.  I had heard they were down last week.  Hopefully they will be available Friday.

Any word as to whether this game might be on WHME TV?  I think they do a great job.  Chatard/NorthWood earlier this year was broadcast on WHME.  Since they are out of a South Bend, I assume this Semistate game would be their Game of the Week considering Marian is the closest area team still in the playoffs.

Yes, Channel 46 will be carrying this game.  Agreed - they do a very good job of calling a game!
