Lol. It was 37-0 when the running clock started. Even with the two quick scores and one late score, the game finished a 3 possession game. It would have taken another 2 quarters to score enough points to come back.

Linton was totally outmanned by a much superior MD team.  First time in history Linton had a running clock rule imposed on them.  Most of Linton's kids will be back next year.  They'll be bigger, stronger, and better.

Parents at WRV have been wanting to add football for years as far back as the early 2000's that I know of.   Bloomfield tried recently.  They keep getting shot down.   Apparently too many people still have a basketball only mentality or something like that. Or they don't want to spend the money.   You know they should just consolidate all 5 schools and just called it Greene County.  Of course that would put them in 3A or 4A for enrollment.   But 5 schools into one would really boost ALL sports in Greene County and no more kids  would have to leave one school to go to another for just one sport.

It wouldn't be feasible to have one school in Greene County due to the geographic size of the county.  Two schools definitely does make sense though with east and west divided by White river which splits the county down the middle.  Eastern And Bloomfield in the east with WRV, Linton and Shakamak in the west.  That should have been done long ago.

we aren't video streaming, and I apologize because I know people would rather see than hear, but if you want the history, knowledge, stats n facts you will tune in 93.3 FM WQTY.FM, or online at https://www.wqtyradio.com/ .   FOlks have told me countless time how they'd love to listen to us while watching them, but evidently the delay is beyond repair.

Yes, Dan, I certainly wish I could listen to you guys on the radio and watch the stream.   There is a device one can buy to allow this.  It is called a sports sinc radio.  I used to have one but it quit working.  I could adjust the radio for delay on the TV to sinch with the radio broadcast.  I will probably get another one sometime.  BTW, last Friday was the first time I ever watched a home game on stream.  Since the camera was on the visiting side I couldn't see the yards or down markers.  So in addition to never knowing the time left, I didn't know the down or first down yardage.  The announcers rarely mention any of that.  Of course, that's really not important. :-).  I can't remember when I last missed a Miner home game.  Many years ago.

Can't help but think about all the fun this sectional would be if the Raiders were playing in good ol 40! Who'd of thunk the Raiders would be success-factored up before all powerful MD huh??

Anyway- I completely wiffed on the TC-Linton game, so obviously Linton has all wheels churning. Again, from having played both NP and Linton, I'd say Linton has a big advantage.

    Good luck to all teams.

It may be a while before SR comes back to 2A.  I believe if they win the Regional they stay up for the next classification.  Am I not correct about that?

This is very true... but I would be very willing to state that I think Linton would be a vastly improved team both sides of the ball.  Course, I realize Southridge could be just as much improved.  Being the 1st game of the year for both teams you know you are gonna come out learning about your team and what areas need looked at.  Linton made a couple changes the following week and saw positive results immediately.  I have much respect for the Raiders.. love the program and what they are all about.  I we continue to have them on our schedule.  But I do think it would be a bit more of a game it we met this week..  I could be totally wrong too LOL!!

LOL..  too much information for you?!?!   Just print it and read it in the bathroom... or use it as TP is necessary LOL! ...   I can't apologize.. I just like to talk!

I would only add this.  The Miner team on the field Friday night would likely beat the first game Miner team handily.  Probably a lot of teams can say the same thing, though.  We had three three senior starters that didn't suit up for one reason or another including speedy outside threat, WB Kaulin Padgett.  Also the starting QB is now a WB.  Lot of other changes since that first game.  The Miners are better now as they should be at this time of the year.  A measure of good coaching.

Don’t want to discredit the big win for Linton last night- but you gotta feel a little bit for Tell City last night being hit by the Rona bug at absolutely the worst time. 2020 in a nutshell I guess...

Having played both teams- at full strength, I believed it would be a nip/tuck type of game. Kuddos to Linton for getting it done- but now TC will be left to wonder “what might have been” had they had their full compliments of players.

Best of luck to the teams moving on and congrats to TC on a good year. Just a tough way for it to end

One has to feel bad for Tell City having a great season to end like that.  Obviously, they were not a full strength.  No doubt it would have been a more competitive game if Tell City had all the pieces intact.  The Miners are playing very well defensively and offensively right now and I think we would have won the game anyway but who knows.  I'm sure TC feels differently.  Linton has been fortunate thus far to not have had any covid issues.  The loss to North Knox three weeks ago seems to have been a needed wake-up call for the team and coaches.  A rematch with NK seemed unlikely when the playoffs began but not so much now.  North Knox is really rolling right now and beating Mater Dei is not out of the question and the Miners will be favored against North Posey at home.  Linton suffered a blow last night when their biggest and perhaps best lineman suffered what appears to be a broken leg.  The team seems to be really energized right now.

That one didn't have much. Sectionals had already been drawn, and Tell City wasn't playing for an undefeated season since the loss to Southridge. I would rather make sure my horses stayed healthy heading into sectionals than risk losing one of them in a game against a team with 1 win. I don't know what their thought process was but if they played 99 more times Tell City would win all of them unless it was COVID related or they were sitting their best kids on purpose.

Yes, I've seen tons of games like that and I've seen our coaches get the JV kids in early but I don't recall in my long history of watching my team play that they ever lost a game to a huge underdog team because they didn't care if they lost.  Not ever at Linton.  Every loss for the Miners is an unwanted stain.  That's just the way it is.  Maybe it's not that important at some other places.

I would say so as well... but I do think a lot more thought will be put into a rematch should it happen. Mentally...hopefully, there will be realization that this isn't 'just' North Knox...a  team we've beaten soundly year after year.  Not that it would have made a difference Friday, but maybe it will down the road.  Gonna have to find a way to defend it and make it work.

I was told the Miner practice was rather, shall we say "intense" last evening and I'm sure it will continue all week.  Through no fault of their own, Eastern Green is likely to catch the brunt of the Miners' ire Friday night.

Last time Linton lost to NK in regular season they played in sectionals Linton won 44-0.

I remember that 2009 loss well.  Linton lost at NK 15 -7.  Never were the Miner fans so angry and frustrated.  So was coach Weber.  That week Weber completely scrapped the offense they were running and started over.  They rolled through the rest of the season and the sectional including the 44 - 0 win over North Knox at home.  However, I can't see that happening if the teams should meet again.  Linton could conceivably win but it won't be a blowout.  Right now I would say that NK is better than Linton.  It would take a heck of an effort for Linton to turn it around.

  10. I'm still alive and well.  Actually not so well after my night at Williams field last evening.  It was painful to watch the Miners take a complete beat-down like they got from the Warriors.  The Linton line was completely dominated on both sides of the ball.  I think the outstanding NK back #12 had over 250 yards.  Very un-Linton-like defense.  Congratulations to North Knox.  They came to play and took care of business.  I'll have to do some checking but I know it's been a long time since Linton lost a homecoming football game.

So, what you're saying is ND's record really is a product of their schedule and they haven't improved.

Disclosure: Not a ND fan. Just trying to start conversation.

I do think that North Daviess is improved and getting better.  I just feel like the Miners' rushing offense will be too much.  If Linton wasn't so one dimensional offensively they could be really good but that one dimension is enough for weaker teams.  Against Boonville Linton put up 42 points in the loss but completed one pass for 3 yards.  It's not that they don't try to pass, they just have very little success.  As for the score I predicted,  I could be way off.  I just threw that out there.

Is there a chance this game is closer than the 43-6 prediction. I don't disagree Linton is probably better but North Daviess is quite a bit better, aren't they? Weak schedule aside, they are still a solid team.

My prediction is 59 - 13 with caveat.   ND won't be able to slow Linton's running game.  Second half running clock and how early JV plays makes final score prediction difficult.
