What are the biggest issues facing whoever Elkhart and Goshen select as their new head football coaches?

I heard there are a few players living in the Goshen District but attending either Northwood or Northridge.

We have some of that in Elkhart with kids going to Concord and Northridge

I looked and Goshen's enrollment has actually increased to the point they are getting close to 6A.

I know Fairfield has also seen an increase as well.

Both Goshen High School and Elkhart High School have Football Head Coaching Positions Open.

I really thought Goshen was lucky to get Tom and with his history of turning a program into a winner like he did at Northridge was just what Goshen needed.

Does this have anything to do with the new A.D. who wasn't the one who hired Tom?

Saw a Tweet by Channel 46 Sports former All State Player and long time Goshen Assistant Coach Steve Swihart passed away. I remember coach Swihart as being a very good defensive coach in the Redskins successful years. Always wonder why Goshen never made him head coach after Park retired.

I don't fault Northwood at all for turning in the violation to Northridge. 

I do find it concerning that they wait till the day before the sectional final to do it.

If you have that information share it with the Northridge administration as soon as you have it.

There is a lot here to digest. From reading the post the Northridge QB was suspended because of a video Northwood had of him making a bad decision this summer and Video wasn't made public until the day before the game? When I got home from the Penn game I watched the tape delay on TV and they just said the QB and another player were suspended.

Northwood vs. Northridge game is interesting because 2 good teams with contrasting styles.

Northridge is just what Northwood struggle with in a team with a strong O-line/running game and a physical defense.

Likewise Northridge struggles with teams like Northwood with speed and a dynamic passing game.

2 great teams and should be a good game. Winning the turnover margin will be the key.

This games shows how strong the NLC is as neither of these teams were top 2 in the conference.

Big Sectional Finals week for the NLC.

Warsaw vs. Penn

Northridge vs. Northwood Rematch

Concord vs. Mishawaka Rematch.

Would love to see Warsaw beat Penn showing them the strength of the NLC.

Not surprised Wawasee beat Riley. Wawasee is vastly improved. They lost one score games to both Warsaw and Northridge.

Congrats to Wawasee on beating a 8-1 S.B. Riley team Friday.

2nd half of the season has shown big improvements by the Warriors. They must have played well against Warsaw and Northridge the first time as each game were only 7 point losses.

Can Wawasee take the next step and knock of Northridge? Maybe catch the Raiders looking ahead to Northwood?

Read in the paper where this Friday is the 100th anniversary of Goshen's Field.

Which QB did Goshen Play?

I know the freshman they were starting I heard is out for the season and when they played Concord they alternated QBs and threw almost every play.

Northwood Mishawaka game should be an interesting contrast in offenses.

Can the Redhawks finally get a victory at a improved Plymouth?

Was at the Northridge game and was not impressed with their play. Looked like they took the opponent lightly.

Heard Goshen alternated 2 QBs and threw almost every play. I was thinking the game with Concord might be closer.

Heard Concord Special teams were really good.

Only competitive game this week is Northwood at Warsaw. Big contrast in styles. Air warfare vs. Ground attack.

My prediction is Northwood gets back to their winning ways. Look for their QB to rebound.

Was shocked that the week 3 sinning margins were as big as they were. 

Not shocked with who won, but thought scores would be closer.

Should be some really good games tonight in the NLC.

Northridge vs. Mishawaka

Should be interesting to see who gets a leg up on the title chase.

Wawasee vs. Goshen should be interesting to see who can get their first win.

Talked to a co worker who's son plays for Schmucker 8th grade team.

HE said they got beat this week by Goshen by 3 touchdowns. Said Goshen had over 40 players and were really well coached.

Maybe the future is bright for coach Wogomon at Goshen.

I would agree that the Fairfield game isn't holding Goshen back...unless they lose the game.  That will have an effect on the players currently on the team and those of the fence about joining the football team.  This is not a knock of Fairfield as they have come along way from playing their JV and Freshmen against Varsity teams and have a good thing going and the game for them is a good thing...If they win, its a confidence boost / preparation for smaller opponents, if they lose...its kind of the same benefits.

If I was Goshen I wouldn't like the  Fairfield game but I agree this isn't holding the program back.

I was also told the administration has hired a full time strength and conditioning coach for all of the athletic teams.

Coaching hires and coaches on staff in building would be my primary barometer for "support".  How easy is it for you to get the people you want on staff into the building?  Is your athletic department on board with growing your program?  Or is it still scheduling you to play small schools out of "tradition"?  

"Scheduling out of Tradition" I would guess you are talking about the Fairfield game. I looked it up and their other non-conference game is New Prairie.

Need a large amount of admin emphasis to overcome this.....from what I understand it just isn't there.

I looked up school size and Goshen is the 2nd largest school in the conference and almost 6A just behind Warsaw.

They were the first school in the conference with field turf and have a really nice stadium. I also hear they have a fantastic weight room although I have never seen it.

Also hired Wogomon. I would think all that would show some kind of administrative support.
