Well I am offended by your remark about the Adams staff. Are they behind the 8 ball when it comes to having time with the kids? Absolutely. The Madden comment is what I take offense to. How many state titles have you won as an assistant coach? Just curious. The Adams head coach has the last two under his belt. I think his knowledge far exceeds that of a video game.

Last I recall I don’t see any assistant coaches in the win column in the record books and jumping on an established program that has had and had success (last night). Its a lot harder trying to win when you don’t have D1 recruits on both sides of the ball. Also, a little reading comprehension goes along way. I never stated he was a madden level coach I said the new coach has put together…meaning some of his assistants. But, appreciate the poor attempt to infer anything other then what I stated. But, Adams did lose and by a large margin 5.4 TDs.

Not offended. Just wondering if you have some real knowledge that has incited your disdain for these coaches or not. I have no need to offer a rebuttal, because I asked you a question.

Well all my predictions were on point and margin of victory as well, besides Boone Grove shooting themselves in the foot. Adams lost by 5.4 scores so I guess I know something.

This LV team is primed to make a run.  Great athletes that have a wealth of experience and one of the best coaches in Northern Indiana.  The stars are aligning for LV this year. I expect in to be a special season south of Lakeville.

Still not happening….Laville put up 200? Points last season to Andreans 400. Laville wasn’t beating Hobart then or now, nor putting up 21 against Merriville. Andrean will prove to be too much if Laville ends up seeing them.

  4. Valpo Penn - Balis and the kingsmen pound the rock and takes this one by two scores

Elkhart @ Concord- Lions just have too many healthy weapons not to edge this one by 3 scores

St . Joe @ Lakeland- they’ll look in one direction all night just like their 7 on 7s. Lakeland would have to man St Joes recruit with a 4 man bracket. Indians big.

Adams @ Northridge - Adams has done nothing the past 3 seasons and it’s not going to change in the two weeks the new coach has put together his case of Madden expert coaches. Northridge by 4 scores

Laporte @ New Prairie - if they can block the Cougars should take this one by 14

Mishawaka  @ Marian (Mish)- Marian lost its fire power to keep up with the well oiled ground and pound of the cavemen. Cavemen by 21

    South

Northwood @ Jimtown- Jimtown has no one to go toe to toe with the Panthers highly recruited WR. Northwood by 21

Bremen @ Laville - what ever offense Laville decides to bring to the table will prove too much for the Lions. Laville by 28

Glenn @ Boone Grove - just a guess

Hammond Central @ Washington- no clue another guess

Osceola Grace @ Clay- The bishop sycamore of the North takes this one by a lot.

Gary West Side @ Riley - south sliders take this one in a battle.

Interesting read about John Glenn in the paper yesterday

2 players transferred from Glenn to SB Riley

Austine White, a QB and  Dominic Jolley, a RB (Jolley's dad is an assistant coach at Riley now)

Nothing interesting to see. Since Austin White is Dominic’s brother. Dad got a new job and kids came with. Happens everyday…..Now if your speaking about Glenn’s offensive production from last season is completely gone now. Then yes it’s fairly interesting.

So theoretically what would happen if both teams show up to the first round sectional game with non-Wilson footballs?  Or what if one team has the correct balls and refuses to let their opponent use them?  Do you just delay the game until they can get the correct ball?

I've just always wondered how you would handle that as an official.

Would that fall under properly equipped?

Just received our order of footballs for the season.  They are not Wilson balls, recommend by the IHSAA., but rather a Team Issue ball from the NFHS.  Anybody else get these?

Program losing funding? AD might of went the cheaper route. Could be a sign 🤔. Can’t hurt to call the company…

Hopefully the O-line can put it together; that will be the key to a successful season for the cougars. No surprise about the defense, should be improved. Sinka really impressed me last year as a sophomore; the kid is a hard runner and hits the hole and falls forward. Guarantee to get you 3/4 yards every time he touches the ball. I hope the coaching staff finds ways to have Ryans, Sinka, Kmiecik, and Mungia on the field all at the same time. Frustrating last year when Mungia and Sinka would constantly sub in for one another. Just have them both in at the same time and make the defense respect both weapons.

What happened during the Marian game last year? Did Mungia get hurt?

You have TurfToe or a concussion? I can buy most of what you have for the East/West Large school division, but the North/South come on.
Jimtown I can totally see them winning it again.

Glenn has been beating on door last couple years so may bump up to 2.

Riley at 3?! Again is it a concussion? They don’t appear to have competed in any game but clay last year. And year before beat Clay, Washington and Gary West. So we’re expected to believe a jump from 2 clay wins, a Washington win and a Gary West win to 3rd in conference? We shall see.

Have to put Bremen up at least 1 or 2.

And last two ok you got me there.

Bremen has 1? Skill kid and lost their starting QB. So if we are doing a side by side comparison. So what your saying is Glenn had 1 subpar win against a down Knox program? They beat Washington, Boone Grove?, Lakeland? Riley? For a combined opponent win record of 14 (above teams). Gary west side had almost 1/2 those wins by themselves. I know your a big Eagles fan but don’t be caught in the I told you so. Riley should of been #2 the last two seasons. But unfortunately the head coach seemed to have young assistants and 1/2 an o-line coach.

Yes it is for sure a tough schedule for them. It’s part of why there hasn’t been consistent winning in SB when playing those teams on that side of bracket. Maybe I’m getting caught up in reading newspaper headlines and not seeing the reality of what’s really going on over there. It does appear with a deeper dive it may not be such a rosey start over there as the multiple newspaper stories make you seem. Honeymoon maybe over before the wedding gets started, but we shall see soon enough. Have to compete week one, and win next 3. We can check back going into week 4.

It’s definitely going to be tough. Teaching a new line blocking schemes in a short amount of time is going to prove difficult and for them to get fluid at it by week 3 of august; won’t happen. Who have they scrimmaged? Going live against your scout D with more then likely lesser players with numbers being down won’t give you an accurate look. They’ll end up celebrating moving the ball mon-Thursday and on Friday be hit with the reality. The QB seems skiddish and appears to have difficulty connecting on the simplest of routes (last year). Good teams will bring pressure and rattle the Eagles QB. If they attempt to go spread they will struggle. The quick game is their only hope to move the ball with an inexperienced offense line. Seeing some highlights from this summers 7 on 7 team.  Looked like he struggled to throw the deep ball with no D-line coming at him as well. We saw how New Prairie’s line struggled early going from Radkes offense to the spread and new prairie had guys. Adams just won’t be there the next few years unless there is an off year for teams on their schedules. That just doesn’t seem likely to happen.

    The digest lists:

    OC  Damon Graves

    DE   Tom Bendy

David Lichtenberger, Any King, Kevin Smigielski, Damen Jackson, Tom Isenbarger

Looking through maxpreps and last years digest. Looks like Two Glenn coaches left for Riley. Wonder what happened there? Something the rest of us don’t know about Riley? Seems odd leaving a 5-5 Glenn that appeared to be on the right path for a struggling program.
The OC Damon is he the same guy that was Head Coach nearly a decade ago? When’s the last time he’s called an offense? Has he been coaching somewhere else? Not finding him anywhere in the north’s rosters. Is this why they resurrected the wing T?

LOL!! I wonder if any of his Plymouth staff went with him and who stayed on staff that was already at Glenn....

Obviously, the head coach. The offensive coordinator. Not sure if he pulled his two boys. Maybe someone else can answer that. If so, Glenn’s going to hurt at QB. Believe the secondary coach followed the OC don’t know his name and don’t know where though. Not too sure. If you look at some of their Twitter looks like everyone is the same from last years team pic besides one guy.

Someone is sounding a little jealous of the paper giving some positive stories on the Eagles. Don’t be mad that they brought in a young, winner to lead the team on the East Side. Maybe this shows what can happen at the other schools if they bring home a winner, and he reaches out and brings back other players who have a history with the program. Now have to agree it’s TBD on what results can be, but if you go off newspaper articles someone thinks it’s going to go well.

So let’s take a quick gander….Eagles open up with Northridge…that’s an L….Then they face a Fairfield team who was young last year and gave the eagles a scare, that’s an L this year….Then they square off with cross town rival Riley who also has a new staff. The Eagles SHOULD beat them right? Powerhouse coach and 2000 kids to choose from….I’ll leave that as a W…St. Joe is an L. New prairie ? Elkhart? Penn? And Jimtown? Chances of keeping most of their Jefferson students are slim…

No one’s jealous of anyone, lol. TBD is agreed on. But, to jump to the conclusion that he’s come from a power house program coaching TEs? That he will miraculously turn the program around is laughable. Fairly easy to coach when you have kids coming up through a legit program top to bottom (youth league) and have legit talent on both sides of the ball.  I see the eagles 1-9..2-8…and it won’t be much better next year…IMO…Have you seen the south bend youth league? Most kids flee to granger rocket and end up going to other area schools.

This is misleading. While Karczewski still has to be formally approved by the board, he has been working with the team since it returned from moratorium on July 11. While still behind almost all programs, it's not the drastic circumstance people are being led to believe.

No not that drastic at all…numbers are down and having to install a new offense in 3 weeks. Should be fairly simple with all the experienced coaches he’s bringing in, the few young coaches that remained and a few old timers whose technique teaching has been outdated since leather helmets

Sounds like a lot of excitement over on East Side. He’s brought back ex teammates to help him and it’s looking like the Eagles maybe the team of the city this year and going forward.

Let’s slow your roll….Adams in all honesty should be the team of “the city” every year no matter whose coaching. They nearly double the enrollment of any other two schools combined. Clay can barely field a team, Washington runs a pop Warner offense and Riley the last 2 years have been non-existent. But, let’s be real. Adams returns no starters on the offensive line….they’ve run 3 different offenses the past 3 seasons….one of the coaches who was at Riley the last two season is now at adams in the same role. The new head coach though I wish him all the success… has he called an offense or defense? Any of his friends have they ever coached or run a drill other then on Madden skill builder? The only excitement I’ve seen has been from the Tribune.

Im not sure where you get Elkhart being in a rebuild?  They have a new HC so maybe a bit there, but this years team is beyond loaded and will likely be better and more talented than the 2020 team. They have 21 kids back who started at least 3 games last year.

The Top OL in the conference in 6a Jr All State returner Jellison (FCS offers).

The Top 2 Wrs in the conference and possibly the best pair in the Northern part of the state in Gates (All NIC as JR and D1 interest) and Echols who had 13 for 277 in only 2 games (against NP and Marian who were pretty good last year)

They have arguably the best QB in the conf in Krueper (big, smart, cannon arm, D2/FCS interest) who threw for 1300 from his back last year with mainly backups at skill positions.

At RB they have a kid who had 400 total yards in just 6 HALFS of football (Houser MAC/D1 interest) and kid who ran for 1000 yards (Leonard).

Newcomers are the younger brother (Teion) of Tyron Mason who is at Western and  a TE who runs on their 4x100 relay and is a legit 4.6 kid.

They have 5 other returning OL who started games last year.

Oh...and then the have Javien Sharp who likely would be talked about as one of the best players in the state had he not missed last season.  If he returns to form the offense will put up video game numbers, could do so even without him.

They are putting in a new offense and have a new HC so its not like they wont be without challenge, but they should be clearly favored in all of their games.

Penn will have top 5 6a defense as their front 7 is back, boosted by the Jones kid, and was very good last year.  They however return nothing on offense to speak of and they havent had a good offense in 5 years.

New Prairie will be really good and could possibly upset one of the top 2.  QB is great athlete and RB was all conf last year.  Front 7 on defense is back and will be strength of that team.

St Joe:  Mccullough will get them some wins.  4th place will come down to the Holy War game.

Marian: lost a ton for second year in a row.  QB Lasane is very good but wont have the weapons.  Will get better as season goes on and should be favored in 23 season

Adams: lost coach and top player.  Going to be tough road for them.  What should be SB's best team is in for a massive rebuild.

Ooo, I must of struck a nerve. I said what I said…with 3200 students if you can’t find potential talent roaming the halls. Then you didn’t look hard enough. I wasn’t impressed with the 2020 team. Sure they had some talent and this years might have some kids that are getting looks. But, the 2020 played 4 teams that ended with winning records and played Washington 650 students?St Joe and Adams….they beat Penn by 1, Mishawaka by 7, Chesterton by 4 and when it counts loss to Merrillville. Elkhart could slide out of sectionals but we all know what happens to the North once it goes South of Kokomo. Let’s not forget kids we’re trying to jump ship several weeks ago….glad they kept the DC on board.
