I’ll be honest, prior to Radtke showing up I’m not sure I had ever heard of Knox. But here’s what will happen. Knox will be well prepared. They’ll have a great game plan and they will execute it to the best of their ability. And at the end of the day, they’ll lose to a better team, but they will show up and compete.

That's fair. John Hendryx was only there for 5 years and guided them to their first sectional title, he left to go to his Alma mater winamac and left arguably his best team at Knox which was Radtkes first team. That Knox team just had injuries and other issues

    Hendryx's five years.

    6-6

    9-3

    9-2

    7-4

    11-2 (sectional champs)

thats why I said he got them going and Radtke took the baton and ran with it. Knox has done well with their last two football hires.

Back to football. Has Knox played anyone this year? It looks like their regular season schedule is mostly 1A and 2A teams. They only beat 1A North Judson 22-18 and the best team they played all year, West Noble, they only beat 15-13.

Are they forced into their schedule due to conference rules or is it just too far for them to travel to play decent competition? I realize that it is easier to find tough games in the urban areas but wouldn’t it be worth it for some of these teams to travel just to test themselves?

If Chatard wins this game it will be the 10th hardest team they have played this year. Just a huge difference in preparation for the kids.

West Lafayette, LaVille, Triton, North Judson and West Noble all had fine seasons.  Chatards schedule definitely helps them but even if they played a weaker schedule or watered down they'd still be really good and probably still favored by a lot.

Tradionally they haven't been a good team until here lately. Radtke has that effect on programs. He almost instantly turns them into winners.

They are moving to a bigger conference next year with mostly 3a or 2a teams. Their current conference is mostly 1a or 2a schools but it's a pretty good small school conference. The Judson game is typically a terrible game to gauge them on with it being their rivalry.

Knox may play a perfect game and still get blown out in this game. I think the whole town realizes the uphill battle they face with playing the juggernaut of Chatard. Them trying to schedule a Merriville or Valpo (which i doubt the DAC schools would schedule them with them trying to prepare for the indy teams as well) wouldn't make that much of a difference for them. Except maybe cause a few more injuries and add a loss on their scheule.

John Hendryx got them going and Coach Radtke has kicked it into high gear.

Knox has had a great season, but it looks like the end of the line for them.  Next year should be interesting for them. Looking forward to seeing them play Tippy Valley, Jimtown, and Bremen along with LaVille and Glenn. They will bring back a lot of talent.

Wonder what their schedule will be

Tippecanoe Valley, LaVille, Glenn, Bremen, Jimtown and I know they are still playing North Judson.

I believe LaVille is keeping most of their schedule. They kept Glenn, Bremen, Knox, North Judson and Triton.  Added Jimtown and Valley. I think Central Noble and Whiting are the other two.

The biggest assist to P/P enrollment in the Indy area is the absolutely trash safety and education our kids would get if they attended an IPS school. Any of the public school parents out in the cornfields and mountains of this beautiful state should be counting their blessings that their kids get to participate in sports at the cost of only their tax dollars. Having to fork over more money as a parent just to ensure that our kids can go to a school where they do not have to pass through metal detectors daily and their education at least prepares them for college is not our dream. I wouldn’t mind at all if my kid could go to a safe, high quality school, win more than they lose in the sport of their choice, get to make great life-long friends and some day get to reminisce about the good old days.

Until then, I want the highest quality education, environment and athletics for my kid if I am writing a check. If you think you wouldn’t do the same in our situation then you are lying to yourself.

You could solve all this by moving out of a city.

North Judson's results have been weird this year. Competed really well with Knox who is playing for a chance to represent the 3A North at LOS. Lost to Culver Academy who doesn't look like they were very special this year. Lost to Triton big and then turned around and smoked them in sectional. I'm assuming they have dealt with some injuries??? It's hard to compare seasons, but the losses this year were wins last year with the exception of Laville.

The Sanchez boy missed most of the year up front on DL. He's a talented big strong kid. He's made a huge difference. I think Judson's pass defense struggled a bit against Triton and they had a lot of turnovers.

North Judson lost quite a bit from last season. Aldric Harper, Quinton Frasure, Cheyenne Allen and Logan Radtke to name a couple. This year was supposed to be a season where they took a step back or two which they have but still have experience and some talent back and some new faces playing. They'll be much better next season.

LaVille offense is/was awful. They need to diversify some to be effective. I’m not sure they are capable of tweaking their offensive scheme.

Obviously, you need to score points to win games and that offense vs LCC was not going to score.

Also, hats off to #75 for LaVille. He’s one heckuva a player. High motor, big kid. Is he playing somewhere in college?

I wonder if Rochester is kicking themselves in the pants.

Even the slightest passing game or a kicker for that matter...they are more than likely playing Luers.

I could see the field somehow getting "muddy" by Friday even without it raining all week 😎

think this is a bad take.  CC was just a better team and most knew it. Really don’t think the new conference will help LaVille that much.

West Lafayette played those same teams and Knox beat them without completing a pass. LaVille had a good season and had some big boys but didn’t have the athletes to compete with CC.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying.  I was basically saying (in this instance) that I wish that LaVille fan would have realized that LCC has "played big boy" football.. playing the schedule and the teams they do makes them prepared for "big boy" football.

What makes you think LaVilles new schedule won't help them that much?

Valley is an upgrade compared to any HNAC school. Jimtown, Glenn and Bremen would compete against every HNAC team and would beat most.

    Minding my own business.

I'm happy for LaVille that they reached Regionals but sometimes I wish fans would know what size schools their opponents play.

West Lafayette, Guerin, Hamilton Heights and Western are four teams LCC played and are bigger than Knox and Glenn (two biggest LaVille played)

I do think LaVilles new conference will help with them adding Jimtown and my alma mater Tippecanoe Valley though.

I imagine not if it was across from those LCC teams with Cronk and Jackson on them.

I remember in 2012 with like 50 seconds left before half Central Catholic threw 4 passes to score a TD right after Winamac got within a TD and CC had zero time outs. I looked at my girlfriend and said "it's like watching Monday night football " haha.

Barrett was also a very special player.

Has LaVille played anyone with a passing game like LCC's?

Bremen has a QB that threw for over 2k and had one receiver at 700+ and another over 1200 but not sure their skilled guys as a whole are as good as CC's.

Glenn also had a capable QB and some skilled guys he could throw too but again not sure if they stack up VS LCC.

Scott Ballentine had 124 yards Passing against LaVille, the 2nd lowest total he had this year.

So LaVille has faced 3 teams with throwing QBS and went 4-0 against them but one thing LCC has in spades is skilled guys that are very athletic.

    Should be a dandy.

Yeah after watching Laville play against pass happy 320 plus offensive lineman I’m ago with Laville

DeWitt and crew were born a year too early, imo that team is 100 percent the 2a representative in the north this year. Laville has a good shot but Central Catholic will be a test and one they may fail. Plummer is legit as is Allen.

Attended the LCC game last night.  Metzger had 345 passing last night against Winamac.  Hit a lot of different guys and was dangerous in long ball plays.  I think LCC had at least three TDs on pass plays of 50 or more.  The thing of interest was that LCC seemed to be good at was not abandoning something that had promise.  They had a crossing play that misfired for the first 3-4 time they tried it.  Most teams would have given up after the first two times it didn't work.  Just when the fans were probably thinking that they would put that thing back in the play chest for another weekend ... BAM ... 6 points.  And it wasn't the first time it produced fruit last night.  Just to indicate that quick strike potential, first offensive play of the second half was a 65-yard pass to Clayton; sending the game to running clock.

If folks are expecting Rochester to only put up a couple of touchdowns, then Rochester will need an outstanding pass defense.  Prior to last night, LCC's putting up 32 passes a game with a 60%+ completion rate.  They put up about a TD every eight completions.  By contrast, Rochester's had 43 passing attempts for the whole year.  Rochester is the complete opposite of LCC with a huge running game; putting up about 40 running plays per game with a TD about every nine carries.  LCC's a bit off that mark on rushing putting up a TD about every 13 carries, but only running an average of 18 times a game.

LCC's three losses have all come against 3A teams: #7 in class Sagarin Guerin, #11 in class Sagarin Hamilton Heights, and #17 in class Sagarin West Lafayette.  All three advanced in their initial sectional game.  Rochester has two losses: #10 in class 3A Tipp Valley and #16 in class 3A Peru, who both lost their sectional contests last night in the Sectional of Death.  Guerin defeated Peru 27-19.

I was at the Valley/Chatard game I was getting updates of the LCC/Winamac game.

Winamac's secondary isn't so bad at stopping the run but the pass defense struggled against LaVille, West Central to an extent and Triton. I knew they'd have major issues with LCC, was told their run defense was OK.

I also think Rochester struggled with Valley’s passing some and Central Catholics QB is much better.

Should be a great game!  Rochester will have had two weeks to get ready.  I think it will be a 14-13 type of game.  Is Rochester going to throw the ball this year?  They didn't throw the ball one time in the first half of last years game.  The winner of this game has a great shot to make it to semi state.

I think they'll have trouble stopping Central Catholic's pass game and with so many guys going both ways might wear down.

Knox @ Lakeland- I think its a matter of when not if, the Knox Football team's weak schedule catches up to them... but its not this week.

Andrean @ LaVille- Andrean is not the same Andrean of the last few years, but their schedule has prepped them for the 2A postseason.

Winamac @ Central Catholic- Knights win big over the Warriors. Has Winamac gotten better or have they just hit the soft spot of their schedule?

Triton @ North Newton- Trojans get healthy for a couple weeks while they start prepping for Judson or Pioneer in the sectional championship.

Culver @ SCUM- Satellites win the rematch from earlier in the season over the lowly Cavaliers.

Caston @ North White- Taking the Comets here as they look for their first sectional win since 2020.

Pioneer @ Judson- The difference in this game to me is which Pioneer team shows up? Will it be the turnover prone, mental mistake team we saw last week, or the Panthers that were aggressive and confident the other half of the year? Judson is a well coached and quality team that will make few mental mistakes and take care of the ball. If the Panthers have 3-4 turnovers like they did last Friday they will be dribbling basketballs next week. As another poster mentioned, both teams were more vanilla than usual last week with the weather conditions, which suited Judson. I expect the young Panthers to come out swinging this Friday and win in a tight one.

I would say Winamac got much better, early on it looked like they probably wouldn't win a game and they won 3 and played North Judson very tough and played Triton pretty well for 3 quarters. I think the Pioneer/Winamac match up would have been much closer later in the year especially since Allen, Jones and Fox missed the first match up. The Warriors lose quite a bit but have some key guys return and with a lesser schedule (no laville and Knox, replacing them w North Miami and South Central+ switching North White with Frontier) could see Winamac win 4 or 5 games and start to trend upwards after 2024.

Culver at LaVille - Despite the weather, this should be a good senior night for the LaVille crowd.  Hoping everyone stays health as LaVille romps over the Cavs.  Lancers 51-0

Knox at Caston - This will be decided early and finish with a running clock.  McLaughlin will have a crazy big night!  (Isn't is incredible what that guy has done!  School career rushing record in his sophomore season!  Wow!)  Six TD's and 5 conversions.  Redskins 46-0

North Judson at Pioneer - Getting Toloza back is great for the Panthers!  And this week should help the frosh QB get a little more comfortable under center.  You always want to win every game, but this week is about preparing for next week.  However, I think Pioneer will play with a little more intensity at home and win this one by going 2-3 on 2 point conversions, ending the Jay's regular season with a disappointing 4-5 record.  Panthers 22-21

Triton at Winamac - After pummeling Culver and handing West Central their only loss, it sounds like the Warriors had a little trouble hanging onto the ball last week against Caston.  It could have been a much larger margin.  Unfortunately Winamac got a nasty draw having to head to Lafayette to meet up with the LCC Knights.  That won't go well.  So this week is Winamac's chance to turn some heads.  I think they'll play inspired ball and make this a decent game, even without their main RB.  But Triton should have plenty of weapons to take this one on the road.  Trojans 28-14

It wouldn't shock me to see Triton at Semi State.  May, Shively and Prater are super athletic, really impressed with Renforth and #52 defensively.

I'd say outside of the first Q, Winamacs defense held pretty strong. They've just been struggling with turnovers.

How are the numbers for most of the MWC teams this year? If low, have any of the teams considered going 8 man? Crazy to think of the drop off from some of these teams since the HNAC/ MWC split.

Isn't that why Pioneer and Winamac got out of the MWC? Enrollment decreases, low numbers and big talent drop offs?
