Bremen JV at Clay - Hey lets make it 3 in a row Colonials

Bremen at Tippecanoe Valley - TV should win easily. Bbbuuutttt they have a monster matchup round 1 of sectionals as a distraction. Think they still get it done but maybe a little closer than it should be.

Jimtown at Riley - Riley completes the 8-1 season and outright Championships of the NIC small schools

Glenn at Washington  - Glenn gets back in the "W" column before sectionals start

Marian at St. Joseph - Most intriguing matchup - I would of though ST. Joe takes this game easily but last weeks Marian win over Elkhart was a little surprising. Still think the Indians come out on top but the game is going to be a close one.

New Prairie at Elkhart - NP run game has done NOTHING the past 2 weeks. The stud QB was in the hospital hooked up to IVs this past week leading up to Penn; Penn still would of won but maybe that played some role in NP having 9 yards of total offense. Yes, You read that right. But if the NP defense competes like they did last week they will be a tough out going forward. The loss to Marian last week leads me to believe NP wins.

Adams at Penn - Penn should be able to name their score, they probably won't though. Can't imagine Adams scoring; Adams has scored 13 points this conference season and Penn has only given up 13 points this conference season. final score will be 35-0, just depends when Penn wants to get there.

I'm really hoping Parker is okay. If they want to have any shot at beating Chatard. He's gotta play.

The Judson / Pioneer game should be a good one, but it really doesn't matter who wins it.  Next week is when it matters.  I found it interesting that the frosh QB started last Friday rather than Hill.  Is he the QB going forward?  Or should we expect Rans back this week?

The Triton / Winamac game will be much closer than some might expect.  Winamac is a different team these last few games.  I would guess maybe a 2 score game, especially with rainy weather on Friday night.  Shively is much more effective when the playing conditions are favorable.

What will hurt Winamac will be losing Jadon Jones to a season ending injury.

I also think the last two weeks Winamac has been very turnover prone and no offense to West Central or Caston but Winamac has that many they'd lose by 5 or 6 tds to Triton. They'll have to really clean it up and someone besides Bucinski will have to carry the ball now with Jones out.

    Season has flat flown by . . . .

Here we go for Week 9 of the HNAC season.

    Culver at LaVille

    Knox at Caston

    North Judson at Pioneer

    Triton at Winamac

How do the Bluejays and the Panthers play this one since they drew each other in the first round of the IHSAA state tournament?
Or does it matter?  Both tied at 3-3 in the HNAC standings headed into the final week of the season. Placement in the conference standings up for grabs.

How you all playing this one?

    What say you?

as always, the game is better

    from_the_sidelines007

    LaVille big

    Knox big

    Judson

    Triton

Wouldn't surprise me whoever wins week 9 match up w NJ/Pioneer loses week 10.

    Caston at Winamac

The Comets get in the win column and saw a huge confidence boost last week hosting the Cavs. Winamac also has picked up a few nice wins and called their win last week against WC. I like the Comets in this game simply because of their linebackers. I believe Caston can pull out a huge win and continue building their confidence because they are tired of being bullied. Caston 36 Winamac 22

    LaVille at North Judson

The name of the game this week is resiliency. After watching the Jays last week, speed killed them last week against Triton. For the Lancers, do they take big shots down field? Or do they allow the Jays to keep things in front of them and clobber the run game and keep things interesting? You cannot look past the Jays run defense. LaVille 35 Jays 21

    Pioneer at Culver

Not much to say. I think the Panthers use this game to help clean things up and get kids healthy. Pioneer 54 Culver 0

    Triton at Knox

All of the odds are stacked against the Trojans this week and I think spoiling the Redskins hopes of being the lone conference champion is on the hearts and minds of everyone in Bourbon. Knox is riding high right now and their confidence is at an all-time high for the progrum and the same is true for Triton. I talked about resiliency in my prediction for the LV and NJSP game. I think the same is true for both teams in this game and how they handle things on the field. With rain in the forecast on Thursday and possibly Friday night, this could be the difference maker. I am going to go out on a lomb here and say the Trojans win this game because of the odds. Trojans 24 Knox 20

Castons linebackers were superb this evening, was very impressed with 19 and 21 on offense along with that #16 and #7.

Winamacs defense however kept them in the game while Winamac routinely shot themselves in the foot with atleast 4 turnovers in the 2nd half alone offensively and on special teams.  Caston absolutely out played and deserved to win but Winamacs defense made some nice stands.  Caston is gonna be pretty solid here soon.

Knox will do that to you if your not physically and mentally ready for them.

That's 100 percent correct, the new nsc is gonna be a doozy!

Not that they can necessarily score more than them. Just think Caston can stop Winamac from scoring more than Winamac can stop Caston. Now I could be wrong and they could prove it. But I think Caston's back will cause too many problems. Caston held North White QB to only 103 yards when he's averaging 225 yards a game. Not saying their Offense is show-stopping but their defense is what will be the difference.

Yes, Caston did slow Quasebarth down and he tore Winamac up but again Tucker Fox and Jadon Jones didn't play in that game either and both are starting linebackers and Fox is their best defensive player. Those earlier games happened but Winamacs defense has been playing very well last few weeks and Castons offense struggled quite a bit against North Whites and winamac minus their top two rushers and tight end still managed to score more and have more yards of offense against the same North White squad.

It'll be a hard hitting game, I think Winamac is favored but Caston will be absolutely ready.

I think the biggest thing in this game is who wants it more. Caston's linebackers have been getting nothing but praise and are the focal points on both sides of the ball. Winamac has just been underwhelming. Have the Warriors done good stuff? Absolutely. But both teams have played the same schedule up to this point. If Winamac doesn't match the physicality of Caston, 100% Caston wins this game. Just my take on the situation.

I'm just curious on why you think they'll score more than what North Judson and West Centrals offense did against Winamac.

Can Caston absolutely win this game? Yes, Winamac doesn't have the talent to overlook anyone but this team the way they are now are much better than what they were week 1. Tucker Fox and Tearson Wolford have really reinforced winamacs defense at the LB positions and Garner and Keller have been pretty solid on the defensive line and Cash Roth being at QB has opened up the run game for Jones and Bucinski.

Caston is much better than years past and will start getting good here soon. I imagine it's a pretty exciting time to follow football and boys basketball over there.

Caston @ Winamac: Caston got a win against a conference team while Winamac won against use to be undefeated West Central team. If this doesn't shows how strong our conference is I don't know what will. I think even though they both got some boost on confidence, I think Caston gets the win here and by a good margin. 21-6

Laville @ North Judson: After last week I think we saw some weakness out of NJ. Laville is a fast team as well and with another solid QB. I think Laville will take this one by 2 touchdowns. 28-14.

Pioneer @ Culver: Pioneer finally catches a break in the schedule after play 3 of their toughest 4 games. I think Pioneer takes this time to try some things out. Pioneer takes it 42-7

Triton @ Knox: Knox had a close game against NJ a week before Triton and NJ played and we all were shocked by the outcome of last week. Knox will beat you with hard-nosed football. Triton will kill you with everything else. I think it will be a shoot-out for sure. I could see this game being able to swing either way and it's hard to say who. I personally would like to see Triton take a share of the conference to make things interesting. It will come down to who has the ball last.

Winamacs defense gave up 14 points to North Judson and 14 to West Central but you think Castons offense can score more than that? Look, I understand that Winamac didn't score really much early on or play well at all but making switch at QB, getting healthy and moving guys around on defense has made this team better than the 2-5 record they have.

We're in the home stretch of the regular season.

Does Knox take a step toward the 2023 HNAC Championship?

Or can Triton step into the HNAC spotlight?

Culver at Caston: I think Caston finally gets a win and can build their confidence. Caston has a good physical YOUNG group. Culver 6 Caston 21

Knox at Pioneer: If Pioneer sits their QB and FB then Knox all the way. If Pioneer doesn't it'll be close and I think the winner wont be known until the 4th Either way With QB and FB Knox by 7. Without Knox by 21

Laville at Glenn: I think Laville comes out with vengeance here. It seemed they had multiple times to score but didn't. If they can capitalize against them It'll be hard to beat. Laville 28 Glenn 7

North Judson at Triton: After the Pioneer games it seems that if you can game plan to stop Plummer, you can win. With ANOTHER on of his weapons sounding to be out, North Judson just needs to lock in on him.  North Judson 34 Triton 7

Winamac at West Central: If Winamac comes out like they did against North Judson then it'll be hard to stop them. But what are the odds of that happening again? Winamac 13 West Central 14

    Caston 33 Culver 8

    Knox 30 Pioneer 13

    Laville 21 Glenn 7

    North Judson 26 Triton 20

Not so sure about the Winamac game but the improvements from week 4 on has been a nice thing to see.

I think sliding Talen Garner and Max Keller down to the defensive lines where they are better suited helps the DL a lot, getting back Jadon Jones and Tucker Fox as the OLBS has made a huge difference as well. I think moving Tearson Wolford into the MLB spot has been a big plus to the defense.

Cash Roth back at QB gives Winamac better options as far as offense goes. Garner, Addison Allen, Jones and Maddox Bucinski seem to have better holes to run through because the option to throw is there now. Those guys along with Jayse Bentle are threats in the pass game which really wasn't there early in the season.
