  1. Carmel and Westfield in the same sectional should be interesting. Not saying Carmel is on Westfields level, but the coach they hired sets them off to a good start. New Pal and Cathedral in the same sectional. First round matchup? The blind draw is an absolute utter atrocity.
  2. Nah, there are many coaches who won't take their kids into some of the older facilities at halftime when it's hot out. They'd tell you point blank if they'd post on here. But they just read.
  3. The new trend is to not go into the locker room at all during halftime in the hot months. Depends on the facility of course.
  4. Not saying you or he are wrong, but Suburban Indy football is reliant on at least 22 above average guys to be competitive. Having a good quarterback is certainly a good start. Good luck to them.
  5. I watched a game in which an entire team cheered when the snow started flying in the second half. They were going head to head with a team that had a prolific passing attack. I get everything your saying and respect your insight. There are absolutely things you can do to prepare your team for bad conditions, I understand that. It still doesn't take away the fact that bad weather levels the playing field.
  6. Well, yeah, but that's not what we're really talking about here. We're talking about a three or four star athlete performing like a zero star athlete during inclement conditions. The more athletic team comes down to the level of the less athletic team. It's always going to be and X's and O's game, and you're exactly right with your post. Let's ask 100 coach who are favored to win by two touchdowns if they prefer good or bad conditions. All 100 would say "good." Then ask 100 coaches who are favored to lose by by two touchdowns the same question. I bet a good number of them hope for "bad" conditions in hopes to slow the better team down. This is really a silly argument that shouldn't have gone past a few posts. Anyone with common football sense knows that bad weather levels the playing field when two teams of unequal talent square up. Facing a 5 star running back? Who cares on a muddy field. Five star quarterback? Doesn't mean much in a snow storm.
  7. How does checking the weather help your quarterback throw down the field in a snow storm? How does checking the weather help your running back's footing when playing on a muddy field or wet grass?
  8. Coach Speak What you're suppose to say: "Both teams had to play in the mud and affected us the same, losing isn't an excuse." What they mean to say: "Damn, that mud f***** us. We had the better team by far and it slowed us down." What you're suppose to say: "We play where the ping pong balls tell us to play. We'd have to play them eventually anyway." What they mean to say: "This is b*** s***. This damn sectional needs to be seeded."
  9. 2023 was a typo. You knew that. Show me where you answered the question. It's okay, you have a round about way of acknowledging that bad turf can bring a great team closer to the level of their opponent.
  10. Great example. Central beat Memorial that year 63-7.........Jasper beat them 16-7. Only common opponent that year I believe. Not sure why it's hard for some to grasp the fact that bad weather brings unequal teams closer together.
  11. He's staying quiet, probably doesn't feel the need to engage. It's really hard to argue my point here. Bad weather is the great equalizer whether one likes it or not. I've seen it burn the teams that I follow, but I've also seen it help. It does the better team no favors.
  12. The question was: "would Warren Central have beaten Penn by 50 points in three inches of mud?" I never mentioned "time frame." We're talking about that one game in 2023. Answer honestly please.
  13. I don't think stating that's it's "fact" is anymore crazy than stating that it's "bogus." Tell me, in 2003, would Warren Central have beaten Penn by 50 points in three inches of mud?
  14. Not opening up that can of worms. I'd argue that the second sentence it absolute fact.
  15. Actually, it did happen recently in one of the top 3 classes. Yes, normally the team that plays better wins, lol. But it doesn't mean they could duplicate their efforts on a dry field versus playing in three inches of mud. Inclement weather tends to even things out.
  16. No, it's not a 14 point swing in all circumstances. There are different variables involved with each team......strengths, weaknesses, etc. But it's certainly not a "myth" either. Let's roll with a difference in "opinion."
  17. I'd rather refer to it as an opinion. But if you want to roll with myth, I'll come back with fact.
  18. An advantage nonetheless. And were not talking about 1.93 here. It could be a 14pt swing.
  19. Team A hosts Team B on a grass field deep into the playoffs. Team B has yet to play a game on a grass field. Massive homefield advantage to the home team. So yeah, there are circumstances where turf comes into play. The biggest factor as to why there isn't much homefield advantage at the high school level comes down to several factors. No overnight stays. No jet lag. No crowds of 80,000 fans making it difficult to hear snap counts and audibles.
  20. Alexander did pretty well. He was the first one taken in the third.
  21. I know of four, but there must be more. Kenneth Grant - Merrillville 1st Round Darius Alexander - Wayne 3rd Round Jack Kiser - Pioneer 4th Round Bam Scott - Snider Undrafted - Signed
  22. I get the math. If that's what it comes down to, then yeah, make it a spring sport. I just don't think it's a good idea for football and track to compete with one another. Either way, there's going to be some disappointed girls that they can't play because it interferes with their sport. . It is what it is. Look, I've never been a fan of some the IHSAA's decision making, but I don't think it's fair to say they're "not using their head."
  23. One post in particular might suggest that the entire football field be bricks.
