    It would be so easy:

    EVSCs:

Harrison, Bosse, Reitz, Central & North

    Nots:

Mater Dei, VL, Memorial, Castle & Jasper

    Bosse, Mater Dei, Memorial, VL,

    Harrison, Reitz, Central, North, Jasper

Team with over 1000 students on one side. Smaller schools in another. Too much work for AD to schedule outside of conference? Is why we are locked in current model.

    Power Rankings!

    1. Reitz (4-0)- Defense is legit for the Panthers to the point where scoring enough gets the job done.

    2. Memorial (4-0)- Another legit defense and #1 overall in the SIAC, great passing game from the Tigers, and questions on the run game.

    3. Castle (3-1)- Very good offense from the Knights scoring around 41 points per game, still working on a few things defensively.

    4. VL (3-1)- Pretty good offense from the Alices too, seems like they are still figuring some things on the defense.

    5. Jasper (2-2)- Slowly getting there, but putting up 550 rushing yards is quite a feat no matter the opponent.

    6. North (2-2)- Still a lot of potential for the Huskies if they can get a few things fixed.

    7. Mater Dei (1-3)- MD well Defensively against Memorial last week holding them to 9 points. However, MD’s offense couldn’t do much last week against a very good Memorial Defense.

    8. Bosse (1-3)- Lots of talent on Bosse especially in Wagner, but lots to work on defensively.

    9. Harrison (0-4)- Gave Castle a game in the 1H for a bit before Castle completely took over. Long ways ahead for the Warriors.

    10. Central (0-4)- Same boat with Harrison.

I watched a replay of the MD /Tigers game. Any idea why 5 doesn’t get more touches? He looked more fluid and had some success. The run game looks off and 6 isn’t helping himself.

  3. Back on my rant about the travesty thats happening on 41 North. After watching last week game VS Reitz minus Vera and maybe Oxley North had the next 8 better players. Hazelwood is amazing! The offensive line giants, the defensive box as good as I’ve seen from the player perspective. Yet they continue to lose. The play calling is bland and wasteful. I feel bad for those kids. They play really hard. They will beat the bottom half of siac just by talent alone. They have way too much talent for that to be enough.

I love getting on here and people talking about stats. Yea, I agree, they are fun to look at and I appreciate the effort it takes to get the stats on here. But, if stats was such a huge deal as some of you are making it out to be. You would think that Bosse would be the team beating everybody. Does anybody every just look at the win loss record or is stats really that big of a deal. I'd take winning every game over being at the top in statistics. That's just me.  I know some people care about shut outs and big blowouts but what kind of football person wants to go see a blowout on a Friday night.

There is another side of the ball. No one’s talking about the fact Bosse D gave up 52 maybe that’s the problem. Stats are an indicator. Look at Memorial’s D and how many points per game they give up. Teams that are close to the top on both sides of the ball will be teams at the top record wise. If you think they don’t matter that’s being blind to vital information.

Not attacking your specific quote just using it to make a point.

I love people continuing to reference Bosse's great offense. Obviously it was way back in week 1 but VL had them all but contained (until they got a running clock and subbed everyone out based on the copy of the film I  watched). Bosse was only able to put up 8 points in the half and nothing from that film showed me they would've scored more than 8 more points the rest of the game had VL not pulled their starters.

Then, certain people want to come over here into the SIAC thread and say how bad the VL defense is. Sure they probably have areas of weakness and areas they need to improve, all teams do. I just find it ironic. But I guess both can be true.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

I get your points but sometimes you can throw out week one. It’s tough to judge based off 1st game of the season.

  6. Bosse-Jasper. Jaspers ball control offense limits Bosse’s touches Jasper by 10

Central-VL. Central lacks play makers and creativity on offense. VL secondary isn’t very good but it won’t matter in this one. Hunt with a big day and running clock.

North-Reitz North won’t lean on their strength upfront. They seem to get away from running the ball and try to throw with a QB who isn’t comfortable. Reitz offense has been below average. Vera should be the QB if they want to be more explosive. If North commits to run the ball it could be close. Reitz by 3

    Castle-Harrison

The Knights get a nice bounce back game after last weeks close one with Bosse. Harrison looks like a cub team. Castle by as much as they want.

    Memorial-MD

Memorial defense has been outstanding. MD QB has only had success on roll out passes. Once Memorial takes that away what does MD do next? Memorial by 21

Bosse to cover. what’s the over/under lol

I’m sure every D coordinator is  sweeting trying to figure out how to stop Bosse QB. A quick glance at their stats though looks like the RB and multiple WR are putting up good stats as well. Any team that puts up 40+ on Castle with their 30 coaches and 70 players is legit. Anytime a usually bottom feeder school competes I am all for it. Better for SIAC.

*****Please send me a PM for any corrections, as this is based on available information.

This is really cool thanks. When was the last time that Bosse was 1st passing and rushing. 1994 😂. Points per game is interesting for both offense and defense. I really think that’s where you see a difference in teams.

I think it takes a QB more than any position to have a special year. Right now Memorial has the best one. North is showing us why a QB is most important.

I agree it’s the most important. Fisher has been good, but I saw some clips of Wagner at Bosse the last two weeks and he might be special. Paper said he had over 300 yards close to 100 rushing and caught a TD of 60+ yards. Fisher definitely has a better support system but I can’t wait to see the Wagner kid in person.

Those kinds of players are rare. Branson was easily the best two-way player in the SIAC in decades. Brodie won state in the 100. Nobody has those kinds of players in SW Indiana this year. I am curious though, what SIAC teams have "game breakers" in your opinion? Who had them last year? MD won state, who was their "game breaker"?

I agree with Screagle. Whoever wins 24 is going to have their hands full against EC.

Xavier Thomas was a game breaker. I agree that Combs was the best player of the last ten years. Vera at QB was one. The kid from Castle looks to have that potential this year. You can win in 1A 2A without one. You can’t in 4a and above. I’m not taking anything away from Memorial this year. They are going to be very good. My point was they are missing one kid who could take them to Indy. Years past they did. Both Combs, Irvin, Brodie had that ability etc. This isn’t a dump on a team post it’s just an opinion on what it takes to have a special year. To add to that Reitz lost early so it’s not a guarantee it’s just a part of what it takes.

Memorial no true game breaker. Lmao. You obviously haven’t paid attention to their skill guys last year and this year. Fisher and Ellsperman are game changers. Broshears is one of the baddest dudes on the field every Friday night. Then mix in the best offense coach and D coordinator in the SIAC.

You are saying Memorial will be ok until tournament then struggle ?
Again, you obviously have paid little attention to the best tournament team in the area over the last 8 years.

I have paid attention. RB1 looks slower than last year. RB2 is faster but runs soft. There is no Combs or Brodie on this team. Ellsperman has played great. He still isn’t them. QB has had success on quick screens and tunnel screens. He has been fine but not able to read defenses . The D has played great. They are yet to be tested in the passing game. Yes this team could win a sectional. It’s going to be difficult after that. I’ve seen every snap. I’m just not delusional. It can still be a good year. Just not a great one.

Castle (-27) at Bosse, 96% chance of victory for the Knights

Harrison at North (-41), 99% chance of victory for the Huskies

Memorial (-62) at Central, 99% chance of victory for the Tigers

Reitz (-10) at Jasper, 74% chance of victory for the Panthers

VL (-26) at Mater Dei, 95% chance of victory for the Alices

Castle vs Bosse 27 seems about right. Impressive what Bosse has done with such a small roster, but they can’t compete with the Knights.

Harrison vs North another year and it’s still the same, the worst coaching job in the SIAC belongs the the Huskies. D1 talent. Incredible size, speed, rosters size and can’t score a point. Harrison felt like maybe last year was the start to something. That seems wrong now.

Tigers vs Bears Memorial seems to lack a true game breaker. It won’t matter until tourney time. They are well coached and play so hard. The Bears look to be years away.

Reitz vs Jasper the Panthers are loaded. I hate that I have to watch Jaspers offense another year. Some may like it, but it’s painful for me.

    VL vs MD

VL is above average and will finish around 500. Is this the worst MD team of the last 20 years? I bet they have already started practicing twice a day and if anyone can fix it MG can. But man are the struggling.

The lights in all of the EVSC gyms were replaced this summer but nothing has been addressed with the lighting at Enlow or Reitz

Instead of spending the money to fix this, they just moved up start time. It won’t be dark until 4th quarter. I will miss Friday night light!

  15. Why is Vincennes not talked about here as a potential SIAC champion? They beat MD last year. Lost to Reitz by 3. Could have beat Memorial, and close games against North and Castle. Bring back SIAC player of the year at QB and only lost 3 or 4 starters. Seems like a team that’s loaded with returnees and doesn’t get much attention.

  16. 1 hour ago, Screagle said:

Improved? Crazy to think just yesterday I had a paid asst football coach at Reitz  tell me there’s no way the suspended player should be on or near the team ever again.
I guess the HC and asst coach may not be on the same page.
Maybe this is just an isolated incident under Brunson .

All this talk about it. What actually happened at Reitz?

Just saw North’s Hazelwood has been offered by Miami (OH), huge returning lineman for the Huskies

North will have the best oline/dline in siac this year. Big, strong, experienced. If that program can figure it out they could push towards the top.

  18. 3 minutes ago, Football Fanatic said:

Feel bad for the kids and the program overall. It's hard to blame the ones that found better homes though. Just not in a good spot right now. They went from 12-1, to 2-8, to 0-10. Hopefully they can find a coach willing to stick it out and rebuild from the bottom up. May be a while before they are competitive again but it's going to take a lot of time and effort.

I agree. I still thinks it’s the third best EVSC job though. Reitz, North, Central, …….Harrison Bosse …Big enough enrollment to get it going If they have the right backing.

  19. 1 hour ago, Screagle said:

Good year to be decent in hoops. SIAC looked like a 2nd tier basketball league in SW Indiana. Jury still out on football after getting boat raced by Boonville when it mattered the most.  JMO. This reply could age poorly but I’m taking the field ( top half of siac ) to be right there.

The new scholarship packages at MD and  Memorial include lots of NIL money opportunities.

MD and Memorial will be less effected. Teams like Central, Bosse , and Harrison who are already struggling in football but could depend on at least having “basketball player athletes” for football could fall further behind.  If those kids all end up on the hill. Line play is already an issue now if the skills leave it’s trouble. It hurts the strength of SIAC as a whole.

  20. With the success last year of the Reitz football team and now the basketball team. It feels like Reitz is about to go on a big run. The “transfer portal” will be buzzing straight to the west side. It feels like it’s going to be Panthers then everyone else.
